FOOTBALL SECTION
First off I think I should tell ya that football is probably my favorite sport on the face of the earth and that you have no idea how happy I am that it's finally rolling around again. OK, to be honest I really have no qualifications to run an informational fantasy site, other than the fact that I am a complete fantasy football and basketball nut. I should warn you that although i have done pretty well in my fantasy leagues, (placing first and second in the last two) I have absolutely NO knowledge of baseball, so please don't expect to see any baseball reviews or predictions on this page, and don't expect replies to emails with questions about baseball. Which brings me to another point, feel free to e-mail me with any inquiries pertaining to advice for fantasy basketball or football. please sign the guestbook to let me know what you think and also pass this site on to your friends as a good source of fantasy news and ratings.
Our first quarterback controversy

Well for our first quarterback controversy of the year, the big question seems to be which quarterback to select first supposing that you actually have the #1 pick in the draft. The first thing you need to know is that in the leagues I play in quarterbacks are worth the most even though we only start one each week. Yardage is a one point per yard no matter who gets it so naturally quarterbacks are worth the most. Touchdowns also count but not as much.
So the big choices at quarterback seem to be the great one year wonder Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Steve Beuerlein and some even throw in a Steve McNair or Brad Johnson, but we know neither of them belong in that group. So here it is plain and simple, Beuerlein has to sit at the fourth spot on this list for the simple fact that in no other year in his career has he thrown for over 3200 yards before the 4400 yard explosion last year, although it was also the first year he started a full 16 games. I just can't see someone with such a bad history stringing two NFL leading years together in a row.
Third on this list has to be Favre. This isn't so much that he's gonna be bad, but Warner and Manning should be great. He should bounce back from his thumb injury, and with a healthy Levens, Freeman, the emergence of Shroeder (1051 yds) and new capable TE Bubba Franks, he really has all the weapons and will look to once again join the ranks of the elite along with his team.
Second place consolation goes to Warner, almost by default. Hey it's not that I don't trust this guy, but after just one year of greatness I can't allow him to top my list. I can say that with his weapons at reciever (Bruce, Holt, Hakim, Proehl, Horne) he almost HAS to have another great year, especially when you throw in Faulk and his yards recieving.
All which brings us to the #1 pick in the 2000 draft of my fantasy league (supposing I get the first pick) Peyton Manning. Along with a rookie year most veterans would die for, Manning did nothing but improve his sophomore year. In 42 less pass attempts he had 5 more completions and 400 more yards, increasing his rating nearly 20 points from 70.2 to 90.7. He threw for 26 touchdowns both years but had only 15 interceptions his second year down from the 28 his first year. So what more can I say here. Oh yeah, he's got arguably the best reciever in the game in Harrison and the same at RB in James. So there it is for all you players out there, if I have a #1 pick, the cats out of the bag, and Mannings off the table.
