Part Two of:
The Three Block War

Ed Sansing used the rules Ambush Alley when running this game. Each player had a play-sheet but Ed had to talk us through almost everything.

Many of the buildings were constructed by Vince Clyant, formerly of the London War Room in Petal Mississippi. Vince painted some of the troops and vehicles too. Other buildings were painted and constructed by Ed Sansing as were many of the troops.

Same scene as previous photo but from the rear. The Scots trot out into the street headed down towards the Mosque, escorted by the two armed land-rovers. "Lookout Gordie! Can ya'na drive on the road properly?"

Meanwhile, more insurgents in the courtyard of the neighborhood mosque began to move to the gate to investigate the engine noises. But they get too close to the gate and are gunned down by the SAS machinegunners.

While all the insurgent attention is elsewhere the platoon commander directs his men around the side of the courtyarded house to discover a better way inside.

After the insurgents in the mosque courtyard are killed, a Scots fire team moves in to ensure there are no more there.

The two SAS gun trucks go around the side of the mosque and begin to engage insurgents in an old garage. The SAS gunners are more than a match for the insurgents, eventually killing all in the garage.

Finally the insurgents in the courtyarded house realize that they have been hoodwinked by the Scots. But the Scots have overwhelming firepower and cut down three of the seven insurgents as they come charging through the inner gate.

The remaining insurgents retreat back around the corner but the Scots are coming after them, led by a SAW gunner. The insurgents will not stand a chance!

The Game-master, Ed Sansing, catches up with paperwork and plots devilish things to happen to the players.

Jim Pitts looks up from photographing the action, and Ed Seems to be saying, "Can we get on with it?"

A "top down" look into the garage which was an insurgent entry point. Ed's copy of the rules is on display, neatly arranged and indexed.

The Western vehicles head towards the garage. The Land-rovers were fast and well armed, but had no armor. In the background, the Scots wait, lined up along a wall, ready to storm through the door to take out the insurgents in the courtyard.

Commandoes advancing from the east pass by a smelly outdoor "Comfort Station."

A closer view of the Scots as they hold a native hostage, preparing to rush through the door and "have at" the insurgents.

A light machine gun team attached to Phil Young's troops. The loader is crawling up towards the gunner. This team was taken out by spectacular shooting from some insurgents half-way across the game table.

Jay Stribling's mortar team has climbed to the roof of a building, searching in vain for a line of sight to any target. Alas, they did not fire single round in the entire game!

So, Who won this battle?

The Western Forces won, fairly easily. After the game, the players felt that to make the game more challenging, more insurgent troops were needed and/or more places for them to enter. The Game-master felt almost overloaded as it was and announced that he might have to conscript a player to help him with the work load on the following game!
