NEW TOYS
For Gamers in the Russian Civil War Period

Latest update - May 2001

Looking for RCW aircraft models in 15mm? Model Power has released several WWI metal assembled models including a Fokker DR1 (too early for us I think) and a Sopwith Camel. The box states that they are 1/100 scale (15mm). I bought two of them, left one in the British color scheme and painted the other grey with red stars for my Red flying corps.

The only problem is, they are not 1/100 scale (15mm). Although the box clearly states 1/100 scale the models are 1/72 or thereabouts. This is apparently the old "make it to fit in a certain sized box and don't worry about the scale" game. The price is only $6.99 assembled and painted which is cheaper than the plastic 1/72nd models which were my other choice. A photo or two will follow shortly.

For all of you that have been struggling to make your own ruined towns, cities, etc weep no more. Mal Wright has designed the ultimate "Really Ruined Range" of buildings for you! There should be more than 20 different ruins by the time they are all manufactured, but they are designed to be interchangeable. Throw two or three building clusters together and you have a destroyed town or village. Throw 5 to 10 together and you have a very nicely damaged city. Put the whole range together and you have a mini-Stalingrad (Volgagrad/Tsarystin)

Those of you fighting in the modern era of warfare (All WWI, RCW, WWII, and modern) should really take a look at these buildings. Mal was kind enough to paint some up and take some photos of them. They look fantastic!

These buildings are made by Battlefront Miniatures out of New Zealand. They are not in the on-line catalog as of today, but should be available shortly. Send them email to ask for availability. They are 15mm in scale, but Mal tends to make his buildings to work with both 15mm and 20mm.

Hentry Lubbers writes about the EMHAR MODELS 1/72 WWI line: I have finally found a source that you may wish to pass on. It is Ken Sprecher's Toy Soldier HQ Inc. web page. He sells plastic soldiers of all types. The Emhar items are:

All are in the 1917/1918 uniforms and the U.S.price shuld be $7.00.

True North Productions Apparently missed their projected delivery date, but the company's owner, Dave Jackson has announced that the Russo-Polish War line of 15mm figures has several new items now available in spring/summer 2001. Later this same year (spring 2001) more RCW items will appear. For a small company, True North has such ambitious plans! I know that these will be great items when they finally are available! (Jay Stribling)It seems that this is part of their "Tween Wars" range which will include many other periods.

Some useful items for the RCW or Russo-Polish gamer are:

Some remarks by Dave Jackson of True North are ".... as I have a client who is taking advantage of my sculpting service to do some Russian WWII equipment, I have decided to do some Early WWII Russian infantry/heavy weapons/cavalry. This will also mean that I will effectively be able to issue Russians for the Russo-Polish War (and Russo-Finnish war I guess!!) earlier than expected. Therefore, because of interchangeability of these figs with other eras, I am switching the release of the Russian Civil War range and the Spanish Civil War range, which means expect to see the start of the RCW BEFORE the SCW....

You can send mail to Dave at: truenorth_productions@yahoo.com

Tim Latham has just accquired this plastic kit of a WWI/RCW Russian bomber. I can hear his hear his socialist heart beating wildly now at the thought of bombing the white armies with his new toy (or was it the other way round?).

Eric Burgess writes: "Just wanted to let all those RCW or WWII Eastern front fans know that Musket Miniatures has just released 15mm Russian buildings. I've gotten the all five non-damaged buildings on the list and they are very nice. I plan on taking photos of them for Musket's website to use so keep your eyes peeled.
