CRASH'S GHOSTFIGHTER: THE QUEST FOR THE POWER STONE
*White mist glides past the camera as the scene opens*
In the distance a kookaburra bird's voice echoes as the camera floats over the lush green canopy of the rainforest. In the distance a flock of white birds are seen flying out of the trees, as a strange wailing noise floats through the misty air. The scene fades away to blackness.
Crash's Ghostfighter: The Quest for the Power Stone
Crash: All right, come to papa!
The scene shows Crash standing beneath the shade of a wumpa fruit tree, his arms wrapped around the trunk, shaking the tree with all of his might. Droves of wumpa fruit come plummeting from above, landing on the ground all of around him.
Crash: (wipes the sweat from his forehead) Phew!
He plops himself in the grass next to his bushel basket.
Crash: (yawn) I could go for a nice... nap… right… n.… *zzzzzz... zzzzzz*
He falls fast asleep in a matter of minutes. A cold breeze rustles the boughs above and Crash's eyelids flutter as he struggles uncomfortably. Crash stirs and half awakens. He groggily lifts his head.
Crash: (sleepily) Aku? Aku, is that you?
He listens, but the only sound is that of the trees rustling. Crash lays his head back down and turns over on his right side and falls asleep once more. From the darkness of the forest, in the distance, a voice seems to whisper. Someone or something has its eyes focused on the sleeping bandicoot.
*The scene goes black, and opens showing Coco and Pura sitting in the shade near their house.*
Computer keys click away busily, and Pura rests his head, and rubs his soft fur against the denim of Coco's overalls, purring happily. Suddenly he lifts his head and his ears prick up.
Pura:(in a soft wavering voice) Meeaoow...
Coco looks up from her typing.
Coco: Pura? What's wrong?
Coco frowns and looks in the direction of the forest where Pura is looking but sees nothing. Yet, somehow, she too begins to feel very strange inside. Aku comes floating out of the house looking distressed. He squeezes his eyes shut and moans.
Coco: Aku?! Aku, are you alright?
Aku: Coco... I... I feel a terrible disturbance.
Coco:(terrified) Is it Uka Uka?
Aku: No. It is something like I have never sensed before. It... it's almost worse than Uka Uka....
Coco: Worse?!
Pura's fur was standing on end and he was meowing uneasily.
Aku: ARGH!
He begins to glow a strange white colour. Pura flees into the forest.
Aku: COCO! RUN!! RUN!!!
Coco screams and flees in a panic, in the distance Pura shrieks in pain...
Coco: NOOOOO!! Pura!!!
The scene blacks out. Then the scene opens in a dark room of a castle tower...
Uka Uka is hovering near the window, glaring at the bleak, foggy air surrounding the cliff.
Uka: W, what could this possibly mean?
Cortex is standing a few feet away from Uka, glancing uneasily towards the window.
Cortex: M, m master, what do you feel this force is?
Uka: (angrilly) If I knew I wouldn't have questioned its origin, you incompetent!!
Cortex shrinks away from Uka, shaking in fear. The room seems to grow ever darker, and a strange wind whistles in the eaves. Uka Uka glances about tensely.
Uka: No, no, it, it can't be! This... this force feels even stronger than I!!
Suddenly this strange light glows from Uka Uka, it is a dark light, and Cortex thought to himself that it hardly seemed possible that darkness could emit light.
Cortex: (now frightened) What's going on?!
Uka begins to scream as the black light engulfs him. His screams echo through the dark halls of the castle. Panicked, Cortex flees from the room and down a dark corridor. A glowing red light flashes in the distance, and Cortex freezes too shocked to move.
Cortex: Oh... my... gosh…
There is a streak of red light and a rumble as the hall is engulfed in total darkness. Cortex's painful screams echo through the halls and then there is a deadly silence. From the distant shadows a voice seems to whisper, then fades away.
The scene now changes, and Coco is seen tearing through the forest crying, and ducking branches.
Coco: Pura, oh Pura!!
She halts and looks all around her, turning her head she throws a glance back from where she had fled. An eerie white mist drifted through the shade of the forest. Coco shivered, and wrapped her arms around herself. It was no use; she now realized that she could never find her way back. She collapsed on her knees and buried her face in her arms sobbing. Then Coco began to have the strange feeling she had before Aku told her to run away. Her fur stood on end, and suddenly she felt this icy chill drift through her entire body. She gasped and turned around...
Coco: W, w, what's happening?
She realizes she is completely surrounded by this white mist. The scene fades white and Coco screams. The scene then fades black and the wind is heard whistling.
The scene flashes and Crash is fast asleep beneath the wumpa tree. He twitches, then shivers and awakens with a start.
Crash: What the...??
He freezes and glances all around.
Crash: Eh... ok... that's weird...
The thick white mist clouded the forest and Crash could barely see two feet away from his resting place. He shivers again and wraps his arms around his body.
Crash: Brrr... This is c-c-cold w-weather for these p-p-parts of the jungle. S-s-strange...
Crash began to feel an icy coldness drift through his body, and he soon began to wonder if it were really the cold that he was shivering from. Then... That was when he heard it. A whisper... it was so soft it was barely perceptible, but Crash's keen ears picked it up.
Crash: H-h-hello?
There was silence, a dead silence. The mist drifted around Crash and he thought to himself it seemed almost too quiet. He began breathing quickly as this freeze shot through his body and a shadow hovered behind him. He leapt on his feet and this impending panic wracked his every nerve. A terrified scream sprang from his throat, but it sounded strangely muffled by the thick air. Something grabbed him by the arm. Its long, thin hand was so cold it almost burned.
Crash: AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!! Get the heck off of me!!!
There was a rumble and a flash of red light, follow by a blue flash and a clap of thunder. The thing released Crash's arm and he was thrown backwards. He hit the ground and gasped for breath. He felt two warm hands grab his arms.
Crash: NNNNOOOOOO!! Leave me alone you darn thing!!
All at once, as if by magic, the mist cleared away.
*The scene shows a view of Crash from above and a huge shadow hovering over him. Crash's eyes met with the face of what had a grip on him. His screams rang through the forest and the scene blacks out.*
The scene opens, showing the window of Crash's house. The purple curtains are closed, then there is a rustle, and a white head peaks out the window.
Polar: Arf, graowl?? (Where's Coco?)
A green head peaks out from behind the curtain.
Baby T: Grrrr… ( I don't know)
Polar: (begins to whimper uneasily) I, I have a bad feeling about this. And where could Pura have gone?
Baby T: And Crash and Aku??
The camera now shows the pets from the back. They are standing on the top of the couch and a white mist begins to drift past the window outside. Suddenly they both yelp and leap down from the couch. The curtains fold shut and the room is left in near darkness. Rex and Polar dashed into the kitchen and hide beneath the table, whimpering fearfully. From the darkness of the living room there is a whistling of wind from the fireplace. The pets huddled together and shut their eyes. Rex peaks out from the tablecloth just in time to see a flash of red light in the distance. The scene blacks out and Polar and Rex are heard crying out painfully, their screams echo through the void opening of the unlit fireplace.
The scene now flashes and is zeroed in on Crash's face. He is staring upward, his mouth wide open and his eyes widened in horror. The hands that clutch him grab his arms tighter, as he squeezes his eyes shut and cries out struggling.
Crash: NOOOOOO!!!!
A voice speaks and Crash freezes gasping for air. He opens his eyes and hovering over him is an unusual looking animal. Though she was a bit different, her wide green eyes looked soft and kind. She seemed to be a cross between a cat and a bandicoot, her hair was a dark blue and her fur was a golden-brown shade. She wore a grey t-shirt, and a pair of blue jeans. The cat was grasping Crash's forearms and looking into his eyes with extreme concern.
Kitty: It's all right. I'm not going to hurt you.
Crash was too shocked to move at first. He just starred at the cat, speechless and out of breath. She slowly helped him up from the ground.
Kitty: Are you all right?
Crash: *catching his breath* Y-y-yeah, I, I'm ok.
Kitty: *breathing a sigh of relieve* Good thing! I thought for sure it had got you.
Crash: "It" what? And who are you anyway!?
Kitty: My name is Kitaria, but you can call me Kitty...
Crash: I'm Crash Bandicoot, and I'm also totally CONFUSED!!!
Kitty couldn't help but laugh.
Kitty: I know, in a way so am I. It seems as though everything has been out of balance lately, and I doubt it is within my control to stop it.
Crash: *shuddering* W-what was that thing anyway?
Kitty: *whispering quietly* No one really knows for sure, my guess is that it is another "wandering soul."
Crash: Y-ya mean a ghost? And... Wait a minute, there's more than one of them??!
Kitty: There may be, it is extremely hard to tell due to how elusive unconstrained spirits are. What that means is that this spirit is without a mask!
Crash: So what? So it's a spirit without a mask, big deal! I still don't see how it can be more dangerous than Uka Uka or somein'! As a matter of fact, I don't think you know what the heck you’re talking about. I'm outta here!
With these words Crash turned and ran towards the direction of his home.
Kitty: NO! Crash, wait, it isn't safe!
Crash: *pausing and turning* I don't need to listen to you, cat woman! Adios!
Crash continued to run into the distance.
Kitty: CRASH!! You don't understand! "It" has Coco!
Crash: *halting dead in his tracks* COCO??
He turns and faces Kitty and walks slowly up to her, his face full of worry.
Crash: But, but how do you know who my sister is?
Kitty smiles and her eyes seem to almost glow. Crash thought to himself that she looked like she was keeping a secret, something only she knew about.
Kitty: Let's just say, I know who you are and that is why I am here - to help you. But I cannot conquer this force alone, I need your help, Crash.
Crash gazed and Kitty uneasily. Somewhere before he remembered hearing the words "I need your help" and he knew what almost happened. Still, he trusted Kitty enough to help her in the fight. Crash opened his mouth to say he would help her, when a clap of thunder from above interrupted him.
Kitty: AAAHHH!! CRASH, RUN!! It's Ahrim!!
Crash turned and fled into the forest... that's when he made his first mistake.
Crash: Arrrgghh!! Hey, I can't see!!
Crash found himself surrounded by the same swirling white mist. The terrible chill crept into his body once more, this time it was so powerful Crash dropped on the ground shivering uncontrollably.
Crash: K-k-k-k-k-kit-t-ty-y, w-w-w-w-wher-re ar-r-r-r-re-e y-y-y-you-u-u-u???
Crash was now rolled into a ball face down on the ground. He managed to lift his head, and struggled to see through the thick mist. Suddenly everything was silent. The only sound Crash could hear was his teeth chattering and his rapid breath. It was then that Crash heard it... a whisper so quiet it was hard for him to discern whether it was real or his imagination. Then through the mist there were several flashes of red light.
Crash: AAAAAAHHHHH!!!
The vapours swirled around him as a dark shadow began approaching him through the mist. Crash froze in fear, panic seize his heart, which felt as though it would burst out of his chest. He listened intensely to the whisper so he could run in the opposite direction and hopefully escape what was looming in the shadows. As he listened closer, he could make out words, but he couldn't understand them. The whisper grew louder and the mist swirled faster and faster, chilling Crash even more. The voice echoed over and over as it grew louder. A bright flash shot through the mist. The scene blacks out as Crash's painful screams echo through the dark forest.
The scene opens; the camera follows Kitty as she is tearing her way through the forest in panic.
Kitty: CRASH!!! CRASH WHERE ARE YOU??!
Kitty stumbles over a tree root and collapses to the ground. *the camera zooms in a Kitty's left wrist.* A golden bangle was clapped around her wrist, and on the top, middle portion of the bangle, a round, glowing white crystal was set. It began to grow brighter and brighter...
Kitty: *slowly picking herself up* Argh. Crash??
Kitty glances at her golden bracelet, and stares in horror at the crystal stone.
Kitty: No, it can't be, it just can't!!
She casts her eyes to the dark clouds overhead and screams.
Kitty: NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!
The stone glows so bright, it's rays fill the forest. As the scene blacks out, Kitty's screams fade in the wind.
A ray of light penetrates the darkness. The camera now shows an overhead view of Crash lying on the floor in the inside of an ancient temple. The light was glowing forth from the pyre filled with flames, that sat up on top of a long, stone table on an alter. Crash groans wearily and sits up.
Crash: *gazing around fearfully* Where the...?
He looked all around the dark temple, with it's high ceilings, and strange carvings on the walls. He felt a draft from behind him, and he yelped and twisted himself around. The draft then touched him from behind, and he turned once more... coming face to face with a pair of terrifying yellow eyes.
Crash: AAAAAAHHHH!!!
Hovering in the air above him is a man, whose evil, yellow eyes glared down at Crash.
His body was a strange, bluish white and Crash was struck in awe by its translucence.
White mist swirled around the figure as its eyes glowed brighter. Then... it spoke. Its voice wavered in an eerie whisper, yet it sounded strong and powerful at the same time.
Spirit: Crash Bandicoot...
Suddenly, from all sides of the room there was a loud rumbling. Crash was now able to see better and noticed that there were three doors that had opened - one behind him, and two on either side.
Spirit: Behold. I am the omnipotent and almighty, Ahrim Ahrim. I am the spirit of all spirits, ruler of the four elementals and guard of the balance between good and evil. I have been awaked from a 2,000-year rest in the temple of souls, and my wrath has been evoked!!
Crash: What did I do to anger you?
Ahrim: You and your friends as well as your enemies have angered me beyond all earthly comprehension!! Your loathsome malice for one another has disturbed the karma that once existed. To matters worse, someone has stolen the sacred and ancient power stone. This single stone contains my power which is used to balance nature and the heavens. I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I SEEK VENGENCE ON THE THIEF OF THE EARTH'S KARMA!!!
From the darkness of the right hand door a white, floating image appeared. It looked just like Coco only it was white and see through.
Crash: Coco... is that you?
Coco: *sadly* Yes Crash... I'm on the other side now.
Crash: You’re... dead.
Coco: *nodding sadly* Yes.
Crash felt tears sting his eyes, and felt as though he himself would die. Ahrim Ahrim rose above the burning pyre.
Ahrim: Take a glimpse of what the future holds for you... BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Ahrim's eyes glowed brightly as more spirits began entering from all three doors.
Crash: Oh my gosh!
He gazed all around, and realized that he recognized all of the ghosts. Pura, Cortex, Polar and Baby T drifted towards the altar near Coco and Ahrim.
Ahrim: I know that you possess the skills to conquer over evil Crash, and now is your opportunity to prove this to me. If you locate and capture the thief of the power stone your life shall be spared, and these spirits will be restored back to life. BUT, IF YOU FAIL to retrieve the power stone, I shall kill you and imprison you with the others... forever.
Ahrim smiled evilly.
Ahrim: And I can promise you... the way in which I will dispose of you will not be pretty.
Crash looked at Coco and the others helplessly. Then, his eyes fell upon the spirit of Cortex.
Crash: YOU!!! It was you who stole that stone for your own greedy purposes! HAND IT OVER if you know what's good for you!
Cortex: (indignantly) WHY you imbecile!! I didn't touch that stupid stone, I wasn't even aware that it existed...
Ahrim: (flaming with anger) SIIIILEEEENNNCCCEEE!!!
Everyone was silent, and Crash turned his eyes away from Ahrim, he just seemed so powerful and intimidating. Crash thought to himself that it was unusual to be so afraid of an enemy... but then again, Ahrim was, well, different. Crash looked at Ahrim once more.
Crash: Where are Aku and Uka?
Ahrim: I have trapped them in the temple of souls, and I shall not release them... until...
Crash: *solemly* I'll do my very best to find that thief! * He glances suspiciously at Cortex* And once I find them I will bring that power stone to you... as long as you will keep your promise and free everyone.
Ahrim: ARE YOU QUESTIONING MY WORD?
Crash: *gulp* Heh, nnoo.
Cortex: Stop lying Crash and fess up... YOU stole the power stone!!
Crash: *to Ahrim* On second thought free everyone except for him and Uka.
Ahrim: Crash.... GET GOING OR ELSE!!!
Crash: *hurriedly* Aye, aye sir!
Crash turns and runs out the door behind him, and another door at the end of the hall opened and daylight shone in. Crash found himself back in the jungle again with no clue of how to track down the thief.
Crash: Aw, bummer! How the heck does that jerk expect me to find the thief, there's no evidence whatsoever!!
Suddenly, from behind a tree, Crash thought that he saw something move. He stared into the shade of the forest, but saw nothing. He began his trek through the jungle. Then... he happened to notice a tree nearby.
Crash: What the... *gasp* What could have possibly done this??
Crash reaches out his hand and touches the mangled tree. One side of the tree was stripped of all of it's bark, and there were huge gashes... they looked like very large teeth marks. Then Crash noticed that on the muddy ground a few feet away were giant foot prints, as long as himself in length.
Crash: Those... they definitely aren't Tiny or Kong's...
It was then that Crash began to feel very uneasy. He began to realize he was being followed from behind, and he heard an angry breath and a rustle of branches.
Crash screams and the scene blacks out. The scene opens at Crash's house...
Kitty is standing on the doorstep. She glances all around cautiously and then observes the stone in her bracelet. It is glowing so brightly that it's light casts a shadow of Kitty on the door.
Kitty: This is not... good. Ahrim Ahrim is angrier than ever. Oh... where can Crash be? He's not home, and... and this stone is draining my energy.
Kitty sits on the step and holds her head painfully. A flashback begins taking place in Kitty's mind. *the scene is slightly blurred*
Kitty is standing inside of a dark laboratory, and Cortex and Brio are standing in front of a door barred shut with heavy iron bars.
Cortex: *grinning maliciously* There is no escape now - in a matter of minutes you shall be annihilated!!
Brio: Dr. Cortex, is it safe?
Cortex: Yes, release the lever.
The bars on the door rise, and a growl is heard from within. There is a scratching sound and Kitty begins to back away fearfully. The doors blast open and fragments of wood fly in every direction. Standing in the doorway is a gigantic, blue creature. It stares at Kitty with its immense, round eye, situated in the centre of its face. Kitty soon passes out, and the creature approaches her. It is a rabbit, seven feet tall and possessing razor sharp teeth similar to those of a Saber-toothed tiger.
*scene flashes back to the present*
Kitty: *staring into space* The Hareclops...
The scene now flashes back to Crash who is covering his head and ducking, as there is a rustling and snapping of branches and a ferocious growl. Crash turns and comes face to face with a hideous beast. He stares into its giant yellow eye. He quickly becomes dizzy and confused, the eye seems to spin around and around in circles and there is a strange humming noise. Crash could feel and smell the horrible odour of the creature’s breath as he grew more and more faint and eventually collapses. The creatures bares its blood stained teeth and salivates in preparation for the kill... It was then that a flash of bright light shone from behind Hareclops. The beast growled in fury and spun around gnashing its huge incisors. As soon as Hareclops looked away, Crash was awake again. He looked up and gasped, he could hardly believe what he was seeing. Kitty was standing a few feet away and she had a stern look on her face and was holding out her left wrist. The light from the stone shone so brightly it hurt Crash's eyes to look directly at it. Kitty was careful not to look into the Hareclops' eye, and kept her glance shifted away. The stone shone brighter and brighter as the Hareclops began to groan wearily, and seconds later collapsed into a deep sleep.
Crash: Whoa!! That was sooooo bomb!! How d'ya do that?
Kitty: *smiling* With a little help from the power stone!
Crash: *gasp* That... that's what that thing is?
Crash felt adrenaline rush through his veins as he stood up, seething with anger.
Crash: KITTY, how could you?!! All this time it was you who had the power stone!!
Kitty: W-wait Crash... you… you don't understand... this isn't THE power stone.
Crash: Whaddaya mean not "THE" power stone?
Kitty: *sigh* Crash... there is something I... I need to tell you...
Crash looked into Kitty's eyes and quickly looked away. He gulped, and prepared himself for the worst.
Kitty: I...
Crash: Well... you what?!
Kitty: I'm working for Cortex.
Crash felt as if the world were crumbling around him. He became lost in shock and stood there staring at Kitty in horror, speechless
Crash: I HATE YOU!!! YOUR'E NOTHING BUT A BIG CON ARTIST!!
Crash was out of breath with fury.
Crash: *narrowing his eyes* So... this was all part of your grand plan for destroying me. You sent that bloodthirsty rodent after me, and then pretended to save me so YOU could have the pleasure of KILLING ME, yourself!!!
Kitty: CRASH!! You don't know the full story, it's so long and complicated...
Crash: Oh, sure, go ahead! Think up another lie to feed me. I'm through with you... and I'm through with everybody! Go find yourself another poor sap to use!
Crash turned and stormed off through the underbrush.
Kitty: FINE!!! Be that way! You won't listen to what anyone is trying to tell you, so GO!!
Crash kept walking and never turned back, he had disappeared into the forest. Kitty felt an aching inside herself as tears stung her eyes. She knelt down next to the sleeping Hareclops and reached her hand towards his mouth.
*The scene now changes. The ghost of Coco is sitting alone in the temple near the altar. She gazes at the high ceilings and wraps her arms around her cold mistiness.*
Coco sat and thought to herself how quiet and lonely it was. She had this constant empty chill with her all of the time, and a feeling of emptiness. It felt like she was nothing more than a cloud in the sky, observing life here on earth... but she wasn't a part of life anymore.
Coco: So this is what it feels like to be dead. *a flashback takes place in her mind*
She closed her eyes, remembering how Ahrim had grasped her arm with his icy hand. How there was a blinding flash of red light. She slowly felt herself slipping away as pain began to throb throughout her body. Then she remembered hovering over her own body and floating.
Ahrim: Coco Bandicoot, you are now one with the land of the nonliving.
Then a beam of white light shone from his eyes onto her former body, lying on a stone table. Coco watched in horror as her body became crystallised in a bluish green crystal.
*Scene flashes back to the present*
Coco:*sigh* Oh Crash, please, your'e our only hope.
From behind her emerged another spirit.
Coco: Cortex!
Cortex: Hello, talking to ourselves are we?
Coco: *angrilly* And what business is it of yours?!
Cortex: *smiling evilly* Suppose that I were to tell you a bit of information you might want to know about?
Coco turned abruptly to face Cortex.
Coco: What?? What information?
Cortex grinned as the camera backs up showing a view of the whole, dim room. Cortex's laugh echo's through the temple and the scene blacks out.
The scene flashes back to the forest. Kitty has her hands around Hareclops' neck and is fumbling around with some sort of chain.
Kitty: *nervously* I better hurry up and get this thing off of him before he awakens. I think the power stone is running lower on energy!
*The camera zooms in on Hareclops' massive neck.*
Beneath a layer of thick fur, a silver chain emerges. Dangling from it is a round glowing blue crystal ball the size of Kitty's fist. It is encased in four silver prongs.
Kitty: *laughing happily* At last! I've found you!
Kitty unsheathes one of her razor sharp claws and saws away at one of the thinner links of the chain. Suddenly, the beast begins to stir. Kitty gasps and checks her bracelet finding that the crystal was no longer glowing. Hareclops opened his giant yellow eye, and Kitty saw a flash of burning rage from within it. Kitty backs away from the Hareclops as it stands and hisses baring its sharp teeth. Kitty hisses back teasing him.
Kitty: *thinking to herself* I hope this works!
The Hareclops leapt at her, foaming at the mouth, the crystal power stone dangling from its neck. Kitty crouched down and sprang on top of the Hareclops' head grabbing a hold of his ears. He leapt nearly ten feet off of the ground, but Kitty kept her grip with her claws. She was now sitting on the beast's back and riding rodeo style.
Kitty: Yee Haw!! Ride 'em cowgirl!!
Kitty pinched his right ear and he swung his head around. Kitty leapt off and while Hareclops' head was facing the other direction she grabbed the power stone and pulled it with all of her might. It finally snapped free, much to the enragement of Hareclops. He began chasing after her bounding in gigantic leaps, Kitty tries her best to scramble away. Then... there is a painful scream and the scene blacks out.
*It flashes back again and Kitty is up in a tree clasping on to the bark and gazing down in horror at the Hareclops, jumping higher and higher chomping its deadly jaws.*
Kitty feels a pain in her left leg, and something wet running down it. She looks and finds a large rip in her pant leg, dripping red with blood. She winced painfully and tried to keep her grip, but she began slipping...
Kitty: Aaaahhh!!
She dug her claws into the bark of the tree, desperately, but her leg was so weak she couldn't support herself. Kitty shrieked as she skidded down the tree and started to tumble backwards... It all happened so fast she hardly knew where she was. One minute she was falling from the tree, and the next she could hear the chomp of Hareclops' razor sharp teeth. Someone grabbed her from above and she was instantly swept off of her feet.
Crash: *Tarzan style* OOOOOAAAAAOOAAAOOOOAAAAAAAOOO!!!!
Kitty: *screaming in surprise* CRAAAAAASSHHH!!
Kitty wrapped her arms around his waist and closed her eyes as a large tree grew closer and closer. The vine Crash was hanging from swooped quickly towards it.
Kitty: CRASH! Watch out for that...
Crash: JERONIMOOOOO!!!
He let go of the vine and they both screamed as they plummeted down into the river below. Crash was submerged under water struggling with all of his might.
Crash: Help! I just remembered - I cannot swim!
Kitty: Grab my hand!
Together the two of them began struggling to the riverbank, but the current was so strong they fought in vain.
*The scene flashes back, showing the outside of the temple where Ahrim and the others are. Then it shows the dark inner room.*
Coco is staring intensely at Cortex as he grins vilely.
Coco: It's something about Crash isn't it?! What have you done to him??!
Cortex: *casually* Chill out... oh, yea, you already are chilled out... so THAW OUT!
Coco: *sarcastically* I shall... oh oneness... as soon as Ahrim gets things fired up. DUH! It doesn't take a scientist to figure out that if we ever want to be alive again we need Crash to help us!!
Cortex: *tisking and shaking his head* Coco, Coco, Coco... I haven't done anything to Crash.
Coco: You haven't?
Cortex: *smiling* No... but let's just say that a cat-bandicoot hybrid and a one-eyed, carnivorus blue rabbit... have.
Coco: WHAT?! You dirty sneak! You went and created more minions!
Cortex: BINGO! Correct answer miss brainiac... but this time you aren't going to look so smart!
The scene fades away...
There is darkness... then Ahrim speaks softly. He has been hovering behind a pillar, watching Cortex and Coco arguing and he stares at them angrily as his eyes begin to glow.
Ahrim: You all shall pay for this...
*The scene now flashes back to the river*
Crash: *shouting over the sound of the rushing water* Darn it! The current is too strong!
Kitty: And my leg is killing me! We gotta keep trying though...
Crash: I don't think I can go on much farther...
The two of them are carried further and further along down the river. The rapids became stronger than ever and the river ran faster and faster. Crash and Kitty were clasping hands, and trying their hardest to stay afloat. They both looked at each other...
Crash: Uh... Kitty.
Kitty: Yeah, I think I know...
Crash and Kitty: WATERFALL!!!
They scream as they are swept away by the foaming rapids and cascaded down the entire length of the waterfall, disappearing beneath the rolling water and jagged rocks.
*The camera backs away and shows a distant view of the raging waterfall and the scene fades*
The scene opens showing a dark night sky, and a full moon. The camera begins to lower, showing the pitch-black jungle. In the distance and owl hoots and the wind rustles the trees. The camera now moves through the dark jungle, and the rushing sound of a river is heard. The dark waters flow by, distorting the moonlight shining on its surface. The waterfall is drowning out the sounds of the night, and on a rock nearby the bottom of the waterfall, two glowing creatures can be seen. *The camera slowly moves in and focuses on them* They are two ghosts, one of them is a bandicoot and the other a cat hybrid. They are both sitting silently and staring into the water.
Kitty: *after a long pause of silence* This was never supposed to have happened.
Crash stares into the water silently and shivers as the constant chill ran through him.
Crash: This is all my fault.
Kitty: No, Crash, please don't say that...
Crash: It's true.
Kitty: *looking into Crash's eyes* You risked your life to save me... that was a very noble thing you did... but I don't understand... why did you look for me after you ran away? I thought you said that you hated me.
Crash: *After a long pause* I'm sorry. It's... it's just that I felt so angry and hopeless... my, my sister...
Crash buried his face in his hands and Kitty embraced Crash in her arms as tears ran down her cheeks.
*The camera backs away showing the scene from a distance.* BBMak 'The ghost of you and me' plays and the scene fades.
The scene opens showing an overhead view of the jungle. It is morning and the sun is just beginning to peak the horizon. The camera moves down through the branches, then begins moving forward as leaves brush past it. A massive, stone temple comes into view.
*The scene flashes*
The fire on the altar is still burning and flickering, casting shadows on the high walls. The eternal darkness renders it impossible to tell whether it is night or day. Coco is curled up next to the altar fast asleep. She stirs and lifts her head, and glances around the room, whispering to herself.
Coco: It hardly seems possible.
Last night, as the wind whistled outside and she sat curled up in a corner, she kept praying that this was all a bad dream she would wake from... but she knew deep in her heart that she may never have the chance to live ever again. Crash hadn't returned, and Coco began to fear the worst. Cortex had refused to tell her anymore, and Ahrim kept constant watch over them. Nothing could be discussed in his presence. Coco glances at the steps at the bottom of the altar. Polar, Pura, and Baby T and all huddled together, fast asleep. It almost seemed as if they overlapped into each other... they were so see through. Cortex was asleep on the floor near the other end of the stone table. Coco soon began to have a very uneasy feeling inside. She shivered, wrapping her arms around herself, squeezing her eyelids shut. There was another presence in the room... being a spirit, Coco could sense these things. A draft was blowing on her and her eyelids flew open as she gasped. Hovering before her was a spirit, but it wasn't Ahrim. This spirit was so transparent he could hardly be seen. Coco could make out a faint outline of his face.
Coco: *shivering* W-w-who, are y-you?
The spirit remained silent, and lifted its hand towards Coco's face. The draft blew harder and harder, and Coco now realized its origin was from the spectre's hand. Soon the wind was blowing so hard, the fire blew out... The room was left in total darkness, and from all corners of the dark, eerie voices began whispering and echoing. The only thing that could be seen was Coco, Cortex, and the three pets. The pets whimpered and ran to Coco for protection.
Pura: Mmmeooew??
Coco embraced all of them tightly.
Coco: D-d-don't b-be afraid, I… I'm here f-for y-you.
She realized that she too was deathly afraid. The voices grew louder and began laughing evilly. Cortex gasped and dashed over the where Coco and the pets were huddling, covering his face in his arms.
*All of their terrified screams could be heard echoing over the powerful wind and voices laughing. Then...there is a deafening clap of thunder and the scene blacks out.*
The scene opens showing the ghosts of Crash and Kitty soaring through the jungle. The camera is following them.
Kitty: I think I remember the Hareclops being near these trees over here.
She motions towards a few old, gnarled trees on the other side of the river. Crash and Kitty both fly over to the other side.
Crash: Heh! If only crossing the river was that easy before. *sigh*
Kitty was darting around the tree trunks searching about frantically.
Kitty: Ah ha! Just as I thought, there are claw marks all over this tree. This was where I battled Hareclops!
Crash: Alllriiiight!! Cool, now let's just find that stupid stone and get the heck outta here.
The two of them got down on their hands and knees and began searching through the tall grass.
Crash: I can't see a thing! This grass looks worse than my front lawn at home!
Kitty: Just keep looking...
Crash: Suppose ol' one eye made off with it?
Crash collapses onto his rear and tosses his hands up in despair.
Crash: That's it, it's completely hopeless... that stone could be miles away from here by now. WAAAAHHHH!!
Kitty: Oh Crash! Stop your whining! I bet this stone is right under our noses!
Crash: *sniff* I need a nap. I didn't get a wink of sleep all night. *yawn*
Crash flopped onto his back and whacked his head against something hard.
Crash: *springing back up and holding the back of his head* WHOA!!
Kitty: CRASH, you found it!!!
Crash: *holding his head looking at Kitty, confused* I did?
Kitty picks the stone out of the grass and holds it in the palm of her hand. She then grabs Crash *a little too tight* to hug him, and her arms drift right through him.
Kitty: I knew you could help me!
Crash: *breathing on his fingernails proudly* Well... of course, I am a high performance bandicoot. I can go from ridiculous to sublime in 3.5 seconds *rubbing his head* Ow, think I got lump.
Suddenly... from the distance there was a rumbling and a strong wind began to blow. Crash glanced at the Power Stone that Kitty was holding and gasped.
Kitty: W, what's going on??
The stone was glowing a bright blue and the light grew stronger and stronger.
Kitty: I feel very strange...
Crash: Something is inside of the power stone!
Kitty looked into the round, glowing orb and could make out a picture of something. She squinted and looked harder, then gasped. Speechless, she pointed to the ball as both of them gazed in horror.
Crash: My gosh! *a lump came into his throat* That's... a...
Kitty: Picture of us lying in the bottom of the river!
Crash: *shuddering* Gruesome!
Kitty: Look! The picture is fading!
Both of them stare into the ball intensely. Then a shadow hovers over them and a voice speaks.
Voice: Yes. Gruesome indeed, and it shall only get worse!
Crash and Kitty jumped startled out of their wits, and look up coming face to face with Ahrim Ahrim. He stared coldly at them and narrows his evil eyes.
Ahrim: So I see you have FINALLY managed to retrieve THE power stone. * he chuckles maliciously* But in the process you have killed yourselves.
Crash: Uh... yeah... well we found the stone, so ya think you could make us and the others alive again.
Ahrim stared at Crash blankly.
Ahrim: Hand me the stone.
Crash held out a trembling hand and gave the glowing stone to Ahrim who clasped it as it grew brighter. He began to laugh evilly, and Crash and Kitty slowly backed away.
Ahrim: At last! The Earth's karma is rightfully mine! But... you my friends will not be so lucky. Mhahahaha!!
Kitty: But YOU PROMISED!
Ahrim: Yes, I promised I would restore the others back to life, but I never mentioned anything about you! Ah... my sons will be pleased...*smiles* well at least one of them will.
Crash: *gasping* You mean...
Ahrim: That's right, vermin. I am Aku Aku and Uka Uka's father!
Crash: Yipes!!! *he pauses* Oh man, that would make you what, like at least a trillion years old?
Kitty: *through clenched teeth, elbowing Crash in the side* Crash... knock it off.
Crash: What? Ya gotta admit he's older than dirt.
Crash paused a moment, surprised at his own bravery. He glanced at Ahrim who was turning bright with anger.
Crash: *clears throat* But... b-but h-honestly, you don't look a day over 20 million.
Ahrim: *harshly* Flattery will get you nowhere, you impudent rat! The only place you will be going is into eternal imprisonment!!
There is a burst of white light and as four more spirits appeared. One was almost completely see through, another was a deep, flickering blue, the other was a tanish color, surrounded by dark mist, and the last looked like a burning flame.
Ahrim: I'd like to introduce you to the four elementals. They work under me, and their duty is to carry out nature’s order - Wind, Water, Earth and Fire. And just for the record... it was the water elemental who caused the river to rage...
Kitty: Why are they after us?
Ahrim: YOU KNOW WHY THEY ARE AFTER YOU!! Because you stole the power stone, Kitty Coot, and now it's payback time for both of you!!
*Ahrim grows larger and raises both arms. The elementals raise their arms and there is a rumbling in the earth, followed by a lightning bolt and a clap of thunder. The scene blacks out.*
The next scene opens inside of a small temple. The walls inside of the temple are covered in dimly glowing blue crystal. Aku Aku and Uka Uka are both frozen in a transparent wall of crystal, from which they are unable to break free. Suddenly, the top of the stone table in the centre of the room, slowly slides back and there is a blinding flash of white light. The light fades and Crash and Kitty are both standing next to the table. They are alive in the flesh and looking around the room, terrified...
Kitty: WE'RE ALIVE!!
Crash: YYYYESSSSSSSSS!!!
His voice echoed and the walls hummed as the sound waves reflected off and back in their ears. They both walk over to the right hand wall. Crash reaches out his hand and touches the cold crystal in which the two spirits are frozen.
Kitty: Oh my gosh!!
Crash: We gotta get Aku outta there! Leave the ugly one to rot!
Kitty: But if we smash the wall, Uka will be set free at the same time!
Crash: I... I think I'm starting to feel claustrophobic...
Kitty: Stay calm - there must be some way out of here....
Crash: *gives Kitty the people's eyebrow* Uh.... yeah, if you can walk through walls, but that ain't gonna happen...
Kitty: Figures! Ahrim would restore us back to life, then stick us in here!
Crash: Yeah, I once saw somethin' on TV about these two guys who were stranded together on a desert island with no food, so they were forced to resort to cannibalism and ate each other alive!!
Kitty: You watch way too much TV... plus... you’re starting to scare me!
Crash: Hey dun worry, cat a la mode would never be my choice of a meal. Maybe... *sigh* Wumpa fruit pie...
Kitty: *tisk* CRASH!
Crash: *burying his head in his arms* Sorry, I can't help it. *lifting his head* That moron!!! I wish I could blow him up with nitro or dump water on him and melt him or...
For a moment the two sat in silence. Then... Kitty's eyes widened and she gasped.
Kitty: The walls!!! Of course...
She leapt to her feet and walked over to the left hand wall and pressed her right wrist against it and held it there.
Crash: What are you doing??
The walls began to hum and glow brighter...
Kitty: Brace yourself! This whole place is gonna blow!!! HAHAHAHA!!
Crash: *nearly having a heart attack* WWWWWHAT??! NOOOOOOOO!!!!
*There is an earth shattering exploding noise and everything blacks out.*
*The scene opens, clouds of dust fill the air, then the dust settles. The remains of the temple are strewn in every direction for about a half mile from the site of the explosion. Several trees were blown away, while others were leaning back, charred with ashes. Two masks drift out from beneath the temple ruins.*
Aku : *eyes widened* Oh dear!! What has happened?
Uka: *flaming in glory* Yeeeeessss!!! Free once more... *he glances at Aku* But unfortunately so are you!!!
Aku: Uka! NO! Please, we mustn't start bickering again.
Uka: YOU have no authority to tell me what I shall and shall not do, evil brother!!
Aku: But...
Uka: SILENCE!
Aku: Don't you realize?! If father sees us fighting he will become so angered he will unleash the elementals on both of us!
Uka: *narrowing his eyes* Father will NOT be angered at me!
*From above there is a bright flash and a clap of thunder. Hovering before them is Ahrim Ahrim, burning with rage.*
Ahrim: SILENCE!! I shall not stand for anymore of this!
Aku: Father, I am gravely sorry for our battling.
Ahrim: *narrowing his eyes* How DARE you tell me such lies!!
*Suddenly, from the ruins, there was a grating noise and several stones began to move. Crash and Kitty were both sitting up, rubbing their heads.*
Ahrim: *smiling evilly* I see that you were clever enough to escape from your prison. That’s impressive for two small-brained creatures.
Crash: Hey! Speak for yourself pal!
Ahrim: DON'T TEMPT ME TO HURT YOU!!!
Kitty: You have the stone. Now keep your promise to us!
Ahrim: Kitty... have you lost something that used to be on your wrist? Hahahahaha!!!
Kitty: *smiling and narrowing her eyes* I haven't lost a thing...
Ahrim: *quietly* So you haven't have you?
Kitty: I know that you have the power bracelet, but just because you hold possession of the spirit stone and the power stone, doesn't mean I have lost sight of your devious scheming.
Ahrim: *burning a bright white* HOW DARE YOU SPEAK THAT WAY TO THE ALLMIGHTY AHRIM AHRIM!!!
Kitty reaches into the pocket of her jeans and pulls out a jagged, blue piece of broken crystal.
Ahrim: *chuckling evilly* You foolish beast! Do you think that you can imprison me with that?!
Kitty: The walls of this temple were lined with power crystal, and that is how we broke free!
Ahrim: OF COURSE!! I planned it that way. The crystal protected you when the walls collapsed, and that is why you are both unscathed.
Kitty: *narrowing her eyes* I know everything about your powers.
Ahrim: *cooly* Well, apparently you don't know this.... in order for me to be imprisoned, you must have at least three other pieces that fit to the broken piece precisely. For without the other three, the four elementals can't work together in the power holder's favour.
Crash and Kitty gaze in horror at the ruins.
Ahrim: You have 30 seconds to uncover the missing pieces. Good luck, because you’re going to be needing it. *Bwahahahahaha!!!*
Crash and Kitty leapt into the ruins frantically picking their way through the shards.
Crash: WE'RE DOOMED!!!!
No sooner had he spoken these words when from out of nowhere, two dark figures came dashing through the shade of the forest - a human boy and a girl dinosaur. They charged over and dived into the rubble. The three spirits all watched not saying anything at first.
Ahrim: Fifteen seconds... and counting.
Crash: Who are...
GameGuy: THERE'S NO TIME TO EXPLAIN!!!
T-Rex: Quick!! Put our pieces together!!!
GameGuy and T-Rex each held up pieces of crystal. Kitty held hers up and all three turned and twisted their arms linking the pieces together. There was a humming noise and the three pieces began to glow dimly.
Ahrim: Five seconds...
Kitty: NOOOOOOO!!!
Ahrim: TIME UP!!! Hahahahahaha!!! Now all four of you shall be locked away in the temple of souls to die a long and gruesome death!!!
Ahrim's eyes glowed a bright yellow as a beam shone on Crash, Kitty, GameGuy and T-Rex. There is a burst of white light followed by a burning blue light. Everyone screams as a bolt of lighting falls from the sky and the scene goes black.
The scene flashes in again and Crash, Kitty, T-Rex and Gameguy are staring in horror at three of the four elementals, looming in the shade of the forest and floating closer and closer.
Ahrim: ELEMENTALS! Come forth.
All three elementals approach Ahrim and bow their heads.
Ahrim: Where is the fourth elemental?!
The elementals remain speechless. Then one of them finally spoke.
Wind Elemental: Master, there was a disturbance in the force. Water is no longer with us.
Ahrim: WWWWWHAAATT???!!
Ahrim shifts his glance over to Aku.
Ahrim: Aku Aku!! I demand that you give me the power bracelet back!!! NOWWWW!!
Aku: Father, I do not possess the power bracelet.
Uka: Nor I!
Kitty: *to Ahrim* YOU took it away, remember?
Ahrim: I NEVER FOUND IT!!! Curse you!!
GameGuy and T-Rex glanced at each other and smirked.
GameGuy: Say Ahrim, did you ever wonder how we found matching pieces to the broken crystal?
T-Rex: *sarcastically* Hmmmm? Let's see, could it be that these three pieces don't match at all.
Ahrim: WHAT NONSENSE ARE YOU SPEAKING?!!
GameGuy: It's not nonsense - it's fact!!
He reaches into the pocket of his pants revealing a shining gold bangle with a clear stone in the centre-top portion.
Uka: THAT IS OURS!!!
Ahrim: Correction, that is mine! I...
He pauses; a stunned look spreads across his face. His gleaming eyes are riveted on the centre of the spirit stone. There are misty vapours drifting from it.
Ahrim: Water Elemental??
Kitty smiles as GameGuy hands her the bracelet. She clasps it around her right wrist. Mist begins to swirl around Ahrim as the three remaining elementals and Uka Uka loom behind him. Aku flys over to Kitty and the others and floats near them protectively. There is a blast of white light as Kitty holds out her wrist. There is a clap of thunder as a flash of blue light beams out of the spirit stone.
Ahrim: NNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Ahrim begins to dissolve and is soon nothing but a blue metallic mist. The power bracelet draws him into the spirit stone, followed by all four elementals who dissolve and mix into one another. There is a bright flash and white mist clears, revealing Aku, GameGuy, T-Rex, Crash and Kitty. Standing alone in the midst of vapours and utter silence. They all catch their breaths.
Crash: WHOA!!!
Aku: My sentiments exactly!
GameGuy: All right!!!
T-Rex turns to Kitty.
T-Rex: Kitty, you have a vast knowledge of the supernatural powers... but I think it is necessary that GameGuy and I still stick around to help you in your future missions.
Kitty: Thanks you guys!
She turns to Crash.
Kitty: Well.... I gotta run, there's still a whole lot of things that need to be kept in balance.
Crash: Ya mean Uka Uka? Say, where did he float off to anyway?
GameGuy: *grins* Just leave that for us to worry about.
He turns towards the woods and calls out to three figures approaching from the shade.
GameGuy: Coco, Polar, Pura, c'mon, it's safe now...
All three of them come running over to Crash. Coco is crying tears of joy as she throws her arms around Crash, hugging him.
Coco: CRASH!!! Thank goodness you are safe!! I was so worried about you!!!
Polar and Pura hopped up on Crash licking his face all over.
Crash: Urgh! Ok fellas, don't give me a drool bath!
Everyone laughs. Then... T-Rex gases towards the woods sadly and lowers her head.
Crash: Rex, what's wrong?
T-Rex: *sadly* I guess my brother never made it.
Crash: *eyes wide* YOU’RE BABY T'S SISTER?!!
T-Rex: DUH!! Of course I am! Didn't T ever tell ya?
Crash: Um, no, he's always too busy stuffing his mouth.
T-Rex: Heehee, figures! Gee, I haven't seen him since he was an egg! *sadly* I guess I'll never see him...
Suddenly, a small green dinosaur comes dashing over from the forest and runs right into his sister's arms.
T-Rex: BABY T!!
Baby T: Rexy!!!
Crash: *dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief* (sniff) How touching!
The scene fades and comes back on showing Aku, Crash, Coco, and the three pets sitting by the fireplace at home. It is dark outside and crickets can be heard chirping. The warm glow of the fire casts their shadows on the wall and the fire crackles, glowing from the logs. Everyone is silent for quite some time.
Coco: *sigh* It's too bad GameGuy and T-Rex had to leave the island.
Baby T: Yeah, I'll sure miss them.
Crash: Ya know... they never really told us why they had to leave....
Coco: Perhaps it's because they are trying to track down Uka Uka.
Crash: True. But I dun know....
Pura: Yeah, I know what you mean...
Polar: Do you think...?
Crash: Naw, I doubt it... Aku?
Aku: Yes Crash, I know what you mean, I'm sure....
Coco: *yawn* I'm tired.
Crash: Tired isn't the word to describe how I feel!
Aku: Perhaps you should go to bed and get a good night's sleep... I'll see you in the morning.
Crash and the others kiss Aku and head upstairs to their beds. Aku floats over to the window and gazes out at the starry night sky.
Aku: You have betrayed me.
He turns and closes his eyes.
Aku: Crash... my child... you will someday understand...
*He turns towards the fire as it gently dies down and the credits begin to roll*
