THE RETURN OF GNASTY GNORC

Chapter One

Beyond our galaxy to a universe unknown to mankind, there is a tiny planet with six countries. Let's start with a country known as the Dragon Junkyard, a wasteland of useless machinery. Our story begins in a distant cave...

On a rock sat an odd looking animal called a Gnorc. He had a jungle green hide and wore an army helmet and a pair of boots. His name is Zak and he played a harmonica. Sitting next to him was a bug-like and human-like creature called a fairy. She was a Dark Fairy, one who possessed and used Dark Magic. She had dark orange hair in pigtails and wore a short, black dress with deep purple shoes. Her name is Spice.

"Please stop!" Spice demanded. "You've been playing 'Row Your Boat' for three years non-stop!" she added.

Zak set his instrument down and calmly looked at the notch-winged fairy, who was glaring up at him.

"My little jewel," he responded. "Please hold your temper today."

Spice had to soften herself at the remark. Then she had a sudden look of confidence, and it faded.

"Zak, let's just give up."
"Why?"
"It's been three years. I'm sure he's dead. Now let us go."

She tried to push her extremely large friend.

"You're the only one who can't push me over, my little jewel." The Gnorc remarked. He stood, stretched, and responded, "You're right. We should leave."

They began to leave when the armoured heap of stillness began to stir...

"YAWN! That was a good nap! Now I'd better hurry before that lizard claims 'victory'!
"Er...Gnasty? Y-you've been s-s-sleeping for let's say... three years," Zak responded. "Oh, is that true? Spice?"
"Y-y-yes sir,"

Gnasty managed to bellow out a roar that seemed to shake the land like thunder.

"Well: he said, picking up his club, "We've got work to do!"

"My Vengence" ~written by Knuckles356kd

Gnasty: I could have ruled this kingdom
Until that little purple bum
Overcame my power
With his flame shower
But now I've awakened from my faint
They thought I was dead as a plate
But now, my weak, green friend
To the Dragons--I'll bring an end

I'll blast 'em, squelch 'em Take a precious pink gem Spice! Bring me my wand Be a collection of statues found

I'll steal the ball of Dark Magic
Them lizards will be so tragic
The more killed, the better
Oh, Gnasty? are you getting madder?

Zak: Master! You're givin' me a headache
This is only nonsense you will make
Ever hear, forgive n' forget
C'mon! I have my alarm set!

Gnasty: SONNY! LISTEN TO ME!

I'll blast 'em, squelch 'em
Take a precious pink gem
Spice! Bring me my wand!
Be a collection of statues found

I'll steal the ball of Dark Magic
Them lizards will be so tragic
The more killed, the better
Oh, Gnasty? Are you getting madder?

The time is set
My needs will be met
What's keepin' ya, Spice
My temper isn't nice
The plan rolls tonight
Spice! Just make your flight
As I was saying-------
IT'S TIME FOR SOME SLAYING!

The three rush outside. They spot a family of Griffins---a male, a female, and their daughter---finishing their vacation. They all had black feathers and blood-red eyes. The male had red-brown fur with a black tuft on his tail. The female had creamy fur and long, pale brown hairs on her tail. The cub had a yellow hide with dark brown fluff on her tail. She spied the trio as she flew into the storm-grey sky over the cold, black waters of the great sea.

Chapter 2

The Dragon ran. She ran through the rolling green hills of the Artisan land. It looked like a bright, sunny day, but to her it was a day of panic, a day of fear, a day of misery. She knew. She knew he was there. The large reptile struggled trying to get up a hill, so she spread her wings and thrust into the sky. She soared over the vast land to the place where she spotted her stepfather and stepbrother basking in the bright sunlight. She landed softly on the green on all four paws. After catching her breath, the dragon spoke.

"Daddy, Gnasty Gnorc (whew) is not dead!"

A slightly larger, purple dragon rose.

"Yes he is; I torched him!" he said. "Where did you hear this, Spiffy?"
"Cron told me when he received his postcard from Zelda," Spiffy answered.
"Cron is just a horse with a horn his head!" the purple one remarked.

A large animal appeared. He was white, with a purple mane and tail with a long, curling horn and hooves of gold.

"Did someone say my name?" the unicorn asked.
"Cron, are you absolutely sure Zelda wrote that?"
"Of course I'm right? Aren't I always?"
"Yeah. Uh-huh. Sure."
"Spyro, shut up.
"You shut up.
"Make me!"
"Children, children! Let's cooperate! Now, I'll go and check this out. You all stay here."

Nestor flies away. Then…

"Incoming!!!!"

A black figure emerged from the sky and landed on the grass. It was a griffin named Zelda.

"Hi, guys!" she said.
"Zelda!" Spiffy exclaimed. "Did you really see him?"
"I sure did! Just before I flew off!
"If he's alive," Spyro started, "We have to go after Dad. He's never fought Gnorc before,"
"Right. We have a job to do!"

The four animals fly away.

Chapter 3

They flew. They soared over the Artisan and onto the next. They stretched their wings in the skies over the territory of the Peace Keepers. They forged icy winds into the Magic Crafters land and stopped at a small pond of chilly, blue water and slushy, nearly melted snow.

"You know Zelda? I think you're right that HE is still out there. Look at the wizards moving those land bridges!"
"EEP! I think one saw us! He looked at me right in the eye!
"True. We should leave now."
"My wings are so tired, I think they'll fall off!
"You can ride on my back if you want,"
"Thanks Cron!"

Once again, they set off. This time for the Beast Makers land. Cron, with his extra weight, had a hard time keeping up with the dragons. He used magic stored in his horn to fly faster.

Chapter 4

At the Beast Makers land, a large, bulky dragon called out to Spyro.

"Spyro! You've got to help us! You know those Gnorcs that use electricity? Now they use... they use... ice!"
"Oh, I'm so terrified!" Cron said sarcastically.
"I'll handle it later! I've got things to do!" Spyro exclaimed.

The four fly through the dark skies over the swamp. They finally reach the bright and sunny Dream Weavers land. Cron noted the wingless unicorns and he stuck his tongue out at them.

"Cron, shouldn't you be a little nicer to them?" Zelda asked.
"Why should I?"
"Well... good question!"

Then, a pixie looked up at Cron and stuck its tongue out at him.

"Hey!"

Cron dove down the island of land and charged at the pixie. But, he ended up with his horn stuck in a tree.

"Ugh! I'm stuck!"
"Need a 'lil help?" Spiffy asked with a teasing voice.
"Well, what do you think?"

Spiffy spewed an ember that burned down the tree but left Cron with a singed mane and face.

"You know? I think we all learned a little lesson here." Spyro explained.
"You bet!” Zelda replied.

Chapter 5

We're back to Dragon Junkyard, inside the same cave but with a little torchlight. Spice is using a quill to write whatever Gnasty Gnorc tells her to on a parchment.

"And don't forget this law---anyone who insults the Heir of Animals shall be crystallized."
"Oh dear," said Zak. "I'd already be a statue."
"I HEARD THAT! Now, anyone who harms the Heir of Animals shall be executed."
"Sir, that's not very just." said Spice.
"I write the laws and starting before sunset those laws WILL GO!"
"Sheesh, Just don't get a headache!"
"Now," Gnasty started, "we need a big meal to get going for the future reign. Zak, I'm trustin' you to fetch me the biggest, meatiest, serpent you can find.
"Uh, sure."

Gnasty handed his club to Zak, and he set off to the sea of gushy, violet water for dinner.

Chapter 6

The four animals finally arrive in the Dragon Junkyard.

"Hey, you!" Spyro shouted to Zak.
"Huh?"
"Yeah, you! You know who I'm talkin' to!"

Zak sets down his fishing pole.

"I didn't do anything!" he said.
"Rrrrrrrright. What's the plan?"
"Plan? What plan? Oh--that plan! Starting at sunset, several new laws will be in effect.
"Like what?"
"Like...oops."

Gnasty had just emerged from the cave.

"What's taking you so long? And why is HE here?"
"You ask why I'm here? Why, to stop you from terrorizing the Kingdom, of course!"
"TERRORIZING the Kingdom? I'm just taking it over!"
"Why are both of you being sarcastic?" Cron blurted.
"Why do you always speak at just the wrong time?" Zelda said.
"Keep 'ya mouths shut!" Gnasty ordered.
"Make me."
"Your wish is my pleasure."

It was finally a chance for him to use his wand. With it, he turned Zelda into a solid, green crystal statue.
"That was rude," Spyro commented.

He trotted over to the crystal Zelda and nudged her with his nose. Nothing happened. He blew fire at the statue. Still, nothing happened.

"Let the Magic Master solve this," Cron bragged.

He went to Zelda and tapped her with his horn.

"Funny, that didn't work. But, my horn never fails me!" he cried.

Spiffy watched the whole event in horror.

"Ha! New--er, old--and improved!" Gnasty commented.
"WAH! This cannot be!" Cron exclaimed.
“Oh, stop blubbin'." Gnasty complained.

Spiffy ran over to the dock and rested her chin on her paws. There was a tiny drop of water on the wood, but it wasn't rain.
****************************************** Chapter 7

The sun lulled in the sky. It had a colour like a fox's coat and the bold appearance with the sheen of parrot feathers. The clouds were streaks of paint - orange, magenta, and purple. To some, the sky was a dream. To others it was just plain beautiful. But beautiful things weren't exactly happening.

Spiffy had the tip of her tail dipped in the water. Now, there was a nip at it.

"OW!" she yelped.

She scooped up what she thought was a fish, but was actually a tiny, blue Sea Serpent with miniature fins on its back and a horn on its forehead. It stared, slipped out of her paws, and leapt into the sea. The serpent looked at Spiffy, swam further, and looked back again.

"You want me, "Spiffy pointed a claw at her chest, "to follow you?" and pointed it at the serpent.

It nodded.

"Well… here goes," she dove into the water.
*****************
Chapter 8

Under the water, it was a whole new world. Spiffy saw more serpents, mermaids, hippo camps, and even narwhales. The blue serpent led her farther and farther until they reached a remote island. It was dense with a rainforest, which held quite an assortment of centaurs, fauns, hippogriffs, and anything else you could imagine. She also saw a fairy resting on a leaf. The fairy had yellow hair in long pigtails and a red top with a rainbow-coloured skirt. Just what I need, Spiffy thought to herself. She nudged the fairy with a claw.

"Uh...excuse me?"
The fairy awoke and said, "Didn't your mommy ever tell you not to wake up someone whom is asleep?"
Spiffy rolled her eyes and muttered, "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the leaf."
"Dearest me! I've never seen a Dragon in this part of the planet... well welcome to the Isle Between the Worlds."
"You mean like Artisans--"
"No, no - your world, the Dragon Kingdom, and others such as Narnia. I'm Glitter, at your service!"
"Well, I have a situation. Off in Dragon Kingdom, my best friend was turned to crystal and my other friends are trying to fight someone who wants to overthrow the place."
"Dearest me, I do daresay--"
"Stop the fancy talk! Now, I could easily assemble an army out of this island's inhabitants." Spiffy looked at Glitter.
"Well," Glitter started, "I guess we have no choice if someone's about to overthrow a kingdom." She winked. "No doubts about it, these bags of bones need the workout.
Spiffy flew atop a nearby rock and declared, "Citizens! I need your help in fighting evil! We need an army to fight the menace Gnasty Gnorc!"
"And you said I talked fancy!" Glitter laughed.

Then, a large animal appeared. His head and neck were those of an eagle. He had the body of a horse and graceful wings.

"Otis, holder of Hippogriff Strength Pendant, at your service, Ma'am. Former Calvary leader of Dragon Kingdom."
"Good," Spiffy started, "put the island inhabitants together and we'll lead them to Dragon Junkyard."
"Your wish is my command," Otis answered.

Chapter 9

Spyro and Gnasty simply stared at Cron, who was bawling obnoxiously.

"He normally do that?" Gnasty asked Spyro.
"When he don't get his way,"
"STOP YOUR BLUBBIN' RIGHT NOW! UNICORNS ARE SUPOSSED TO BE PEACFUL AND GRACEFUL!"
"Out of the way, Cron."
"Eh? URF!"

Spyro pushed Cron with all his; and he felt a tingling sensation. He looked at his tail and the rat that had been gnawing on it was turned to crystal. Cron started to sweat like he was in an oven.

He gulped and said, "I guess we were on the wrong side of his temper,"
"You got that right, son! Now that I have you two cornered and the ones you call friends out of the way, I can do what I've been meaning to do all this time! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Not if I can help it!" replied a determined voice.

She was a dragon, an electric green one with blue patches. Behind her stood an army of Centaurs, Fauns, Satyrs, Mermaids, Hippo camps, Hippogriffs, and many more beasts.

"I will stop you from your evil doing!"
"A girl? HAH! You and what army?"
"Me and THIS army!"
"Hmph. You can't block my shield of Dark Magic."

Spiffy suddenly couldn't control her rage. She lowered her head and charged as fast as she could towards Gnasty Gnorc. Forgetting his metal armour, all she did was tear her cheek.

"Hehe, I'm terribly frightened of this mighty warrior!" he said sarcastically.

This made Spiffy even angrier. She made out a roaring flame more than equal to Ho-oh's Sacred Fire. It wiped out 95% of Gnasty's Dark Magic. Unfortunately, she fainted with all the effort it took. Then, Otis stepped in.

"You make me real mad!" he growled.

No sooner he said that he was turned to crystal.

"This is not good," worried Glitter. "We must act to together! FULL FORCE! EVERYONE! NOW!" she screamed at the top of her voice.

All the animals, including Spyro and Cron, attacked. The shield was eventually drenched away in their blood. But, it didn't stop the magic of his wand. Statues dotted the junkyard.

"Would someone tell me this isn't happening?" Glitter whispered to herself.

Then, it came to her! Metal is prone to electricity!

"If I free Zelda," she said. "She could give Gnorc a zap and nearly an instant he'll be wiped out!"

(You see, in the Dragon Kingdom, griffins held lightning in their bodies like how dragons had fire and the unicorns had ice.)

Glitter clutched her wand and darted toward the small griffin statue. She whispered a spell and tapped the statue. It sprang to life! Zelda needed no instructions. She knew just exactly what to do. She flew like a torpedo into the air in front of Gnasty.

"Get a load of THIS!"

Zelda sent a burst of sparks to Gnasty's direction. He screamed in pain. Everyone cheered as he quickly became unconscious. A mermaid named Keesha snatched his wand and turned him to solid, pure, crystal. Glitter cast a spell so he would never revive and be sent to the Underworld forever. Then, she freed all who were crystallized and awakened Spiffy.

Chapter 10

What about Zak and Spice? They hid inside Gnasty's cave the entire time. Zak played "Row Your Boat" on his harmonica as usual. They crept outside surprised Gnasty hadn't won.

"I... er… um... have a 'lil thing to say here. There's still a statue in there," said Zak.
"A fairy's work is never done!" commented Glitter.

She fluttered into the cave and tapped the crystal.

"Hey, it's another dragon!" exclaimed Spyro. "It's Dad!" he finished.
"I thought I told you to stay at home! But, you saved the day!"
Then, a centaur took Zak's hand and said, "Come join the party!"
