History

After the Palace fell, two of the High Ones,Tamin and Orisis, ran from the brutal humans and lost all other kin. A few preservers and trolls followed them. Once they found it was safe from the trogladytes, they began to use their powers to shape a dwelling for themselves and their companions. Their powers were weak and they couldn’t make one very large.
Many years passed, they were Recognized and began populating their small home with children. The trolls began populating in the same fashion. The elf children and troll children grew up together and never had a hatred between them. One of the High Ones’ children had rock shaping magic and created a place adjoining the elves home for the trolls. He made it dark and deep within the cavern. Within their were many things that the trolls learned. Metal shaping and weaponry were a few of their newfound talents.
The Holt is a shape-changed Oak connected to a cave which is also shape-changed. There is a door at the back of the cave that leads into the trolls' domain. The Holt is near the Vast Deep, they rarely go near the open space because humans are usually out fishing and wanting to start trouble. The humans camp is half a night away, so they do not pose a dire threat all of the time. There is a river that come up next to the holt and creates a small pool. This is where they do our bathing and fishing.
After attacks from a migrating human tribe, the elves decided it was best to avoid them. So, then it was only the night for the tribe. The trolls didn’t mind this at all, since it gave them more time with their friends and less time forced into the day-star. Many of the tribe had been slaughtered by the human attacks, but with Recognitions and wanderers from distant tribes the tribe was replenished.
Moodfeather was the fifth chieftess of the tribe. She was a pureblood elf. Growing up, some wanderers came into the tribe. She was happy of this since one of the elf children ended up being her Soul Sister. It was, then, with the entry of these two families of vagabonds, that the bonding with animals began. They had also brought with them a curious little plant, dreamberries! The wanderers brought with them the knowledge of the wolf and passed it on to their companions. Moodfeather and Moonsinger were soul sisters and grew up doing everything together, until that fateful day when Fireeyes Recognized Moonsinger. After that, Moodfeather felt quite the outsider. Fireeyes and Moonsinger were descendents of Timmorn and before the term of her pregnancy was over, they had disappeared. Moodfeather was quite distressed when she learned of it and stayed in her den for days. Then, one day while out hunting with her bond wolf, Fallenone, she got an odd sending. It was Moonsinger!!
Apparently, she and Fireeyes had let the wolf in them take over, but Moonsinger felt that her new cub needed to be a part of a tribe of elves. She told Moodfeather where she had left her cub and Moodfeather adopted her. Named Whisper, the cub grew strong and wise. Many a century passed before Moodfeather heard from her Soul Sister again.
One day, during the sleeping time of the tribe, Moodfeather is awakened by a baby’s crying. There is a baby in her den!! The babe has a trinket around her neck, which was once Moonsinger’s. Moodfeather understands and begins to raise this cub as her own as well. Whisper knows that Treewalker is her sister, but is heartbroken that her parents didn’t stay to be with them. Whisper is taught all the duties of a chieftess, but she doesn’t know why she must learn them. “Moodfeather will never die, she is immortal,” were the constant thoughts in her mind.
One night, while out hunting with her bond, Moodfeather was ambushed by a group of warriors from the human tribe. Both she and her bond were sacrificed. This devastated Whisper and she vowed that she would never loose another to their kind again! Treewalker was too little to understand what had happened, she only knew that everyone was sad that Moodfeather wouldn’t be coming back. Silentstream, Moodfeather’s mute lovemate, left the holt soon after her death. No one knows what has happened to him, death is a possibility, or he could just be wandering, forever in torment.
Whisper has been the chieftess of the holt ever since that fateful night, and she has done well. She has lost few to the humans, but mourns each she has lost with the same passion that she mourned Moodfeather.
Whisper had no bond and went hunting on foot alone often. On one extraordinary night, she stumbled across a large, odd shaped egg. She couldn’t figure out what it could be, it was unlike anything she had ever seen before. She took it back with her and hid it in her den. Many moons later it began to hatch! And with it, her bonding magic found it’s place, for she bonded with the first dragon to their holt.
Whisper is tormented at night with horrible dreams, and so Treewalker eventually moved in Starryeyes’ den. The two were soul sisters and were quite happy together. Whisper found it better to have the den to herself, so that she would disturb no one with her weeping. That is, until Bloodclaw began to share her den.
