Black Devil Rose

A lonely black-stemmed rose bares
Pale petals for the night
Vainly reaching for a false light
Searching within for some essence
Spirals down into the darkness
Nihility into the naught
Sour leaves begin to rot
Thorns bloodthirsty, they recoil
Midnight air begins to spoil
Wind begins its taunting whisper
The moon bursts its silent chortle
Deadly pests crawl by the billion
Greedy feasting on vermillion
Black devil rose begins to lower
Offering its soft blanched flower
Fluttering against a fake breeze
Braced against death's creeping disease
They tear quickly through its dark skin
Gorging on the sweet sap within
Feast of blood turns quick to venom
Sick pain dawns upon the glutton
Fading there 'twas to be ravin
Slipping feeble to the shadows
Now rest in peace black devil rose
