These were the 3 that started it all!

The Kiss Asylum was my first true home among bulletin boards. Although not a Kiss fan, myself, I have met online many wonderful people who had posted there. Ace Perry, Dawne aka Crazy Baby, Alleyrulez, Ravaz, and Wicked Lester, just to name a few. There's plenty of others, so if I didn't mention you, my apologies...you all still have a place in my heart. :)

Speaking of Wicked Lester, though, it was through him that I was first introduced to ezboards. You see, he had his own little bulletin board that was also dedicated to the ultimate band in the world, KISS! Around the month of December of '99, the Kiss Asylum had been going through some major problems. If you were able to get on the board, then you could consider yourself lucky. So, WL had invited everyone who posted at the Asylum over to his, at the time, fledgling bb.

Out of part boredom and part curiosity, I tried my hand at making a few Kiss smilies. The 3 pictured above were the results. I even made the Gene smiley with an animated tongue for that extra effect. They were kind of my gift to these bunch of loons. :)

My Contribution to the Kiss Asylum!

Shortly into the new year, the Kiss Asylum had finally got a much deserved upgrade. I can still remember bringing in the New Year, waiting for that board to crash big time! LOL!

Anyway, as part of the upgrade, Chris (the owner of the board), had added more smilied to the legend. He had also made a post to tell anyone who was interested, that we could try our hand out in making some Kiss Smilies for the board. Catch was, they had to be around the same size as the other smilies, at about 20 x 20 pixels. Obviously, the ones that I had made as a gift for the Mosh Pit were too large, but I made a concerted effort to at least try to make them. As you can see, I succeeded. :)

They wound up being a big hit on the board and to this day, they are still available on the smiley legend.

Awww!!!

I don't remember the exact situation, but I do know that I was feeling kind of down when I made this bugger. I had also wanted to my hand at a little more animation. Unlike the Gene Simmons smiley which was more or less an alteration of an existing smiley, so there wasn't much work to do as far as the moving tongue, this one here I had to make the tears by myself. While it's probablly not the greatest in the world, I am rather proud of my accomplishment, despite the circumstances that spawned it's creation.

For now, this is all I have to offer in the way of smilies. Although, who knows...I may take another stab at them again sometime in the future. :)
