Tohma

Where Do You Go

Series:Gravitation

Name: Tohma Seguchi

Alias:Mr. President [my his employees]

Age: 32

Hair:Blond

Eyes:They look grey to me

Dress:Talk about the epitome of the 80's! I LOVE his style! And he always looks professional! Usually dressing up in suits, though in the most bizaare colors sometimes. Where other times a simple black casual suit with a pink or blue button-up works. But, on his more casual days, he's been known to sport slacks and a turtle-neck, though usually with a vest. He also wears an adorable hat...a mark of the 80's on his head about 95% of the series and it REALLY brings out his cute little face. Also, I think he only wore them in one episode, but Tohma also wears glasses...probably just reading glasses as I only see them in episode 10 when he's cooking.

Talents and Powers: This guy is amazing. Whatever he eats for breakfast, I want some. He can play a keyboard/piano/synthesizer with amazing skill as well as compose new music. He also has this wonderful talent of ALWAYS getting what he wants with little to no opposition. The man can take part in his own band, run a company, and still meddle in everyone's lives and STILL have time to go home for supper. Wow. Rumor has it somewhere that he can sing too, but I've never seen him do it. Oh, and he can COOK! LOL. On a side note...it seems he somehow managed to get a key from Yuki, otherwise he's VERY good at picking the lock and going unnoticed. LOL

Personality: I love his personality! Tohma is the type of man who strikes fear into the hearts of men when he enters the room. Everyone fears and admires him. But don't go thinking he's an all-out tyrant...he's actually not. He's a sweetheart about 97% of the time. He almost ALWAYS has a really BIG smile on his face and always looks content and very happy. He also always seems happy to oblige and offer an extra hand to ensuring Bad Luck over any other band under his production, aside from Nittle Grasper of course. He's very loyal and loving with a debatable sense of compassion. I don't think I've ever heard him use profanity the entire series, though he does have a mean streak.

He's terribly protective over his loved ones to the point of being a little overactive. Although he rarely has to use these tactics....the specific unhappy look is enough to freeze his victims in their tracks and everyone fears making him angry [even though K is comfortable with him and Shuiichi has a habit of always talking back]. His patience is absolutely remarkable. But, after spending over a decade playing with Ryuichi...one must have a lot of patience. LOL!

Relatives:Fujisaki Suguru [cousin]; Mika Seguchi [Wife]; Eiri Yuki [Brother in law]; Tatsuha [Brother in law]

About: Not a lot is known about Tohma's personal past. He was obviously young when he met Ryuichi and Noriko and started Nittle Grasper. And it could be inferred that he was always successful, but not always rich...Fujisaki says they only had their keyboards to get them through rough times. However, we do know about him at age 26 [he is 10 years older than Eiri]. At 16, he brought a 16 year old Eiri to New York with him. It could be inferred they lived together. SPOILER!!!!

Tohma was the one who set Eiri up with a private tutor, named Yuki. Everything seemed alright, until Tohma got wind of something just not being right. He rushed to Yuki's apartment to find Eiri, terrified and holding a gun...in front of Yuki, who had been shot and killed after he [Yuki] allowed two men to attack and rape Eiri [for $10 no less], and then he himself took or tried to take his turn with the boy....which resulted in the shooting. Tohma was there moments afterwards to hold and comfort Eiri...and rumor has it he had something to do with covering up the whole ordeal to keep it quiet...but swiftly brought Eiri back to Japan.

Eiri was traumatized and broken ever since, even changing his last name to Yuki in memory of the teacher he loved and hated all at once. Tohma himself feels responsible for the whole ordeal and for Eiri's endless inner torment and will never forgive himself. Ever since he'd become horribly protective over Eiri, whether it be just visiting him often to check on him, to becoming the nosey third party in all of his endeavors and relationships, to even attempting to kill people who try to hurt him [He did! Akizawa from ASK has Shuiichi attacked and raped by a group of thugs and took pictures! Then he tried to find dirt on Eiri to blackmail BOTH of them! Tohma found out, fired him...and his entire band, then pushed him in front of an oncoming car...which JUST missed. I never wanna be on Tohma's bad side!].

Tohma also has a soft spot for Shuiichi. His feelings about his relationship with Eiri seem rather mediocre. Throughout most of the series, he's rather observant over the relationship [even sneaks in on them one morning which no one seems to notice....this is one of the most adorable scenes with Tohma in it I think.] But keeps his distance enough to not interfere too much. Eiri handles it most of the time. However, by episode 11, Tohma is determined to break them up...although, he doesn't do evil things behind their backs...he just flat out tells Shuiichi to back off. ^-^! He seems to become another person by this episode, becoming rather snippy with Shuiichi, K and Sakano...although it can be attirbuted to his worry over a missing Eiri. Don't worry! Eiri kinda indirectly puts Tohma in his place after the credits in Episode 13 [final episode] and he becomes good with the relationship again and again becomes uber interested in Shuiichi's band...that's in the OVA/Movie. Which is also a cool edition to the Gravitation series cuz it's funny to see Eiri so worried about Shuiichi and Tohma so cool and collected and confident about the whole thing.

Tohma is an interesting individual as far as loyalty. Though he seems to always be in charge, he always seems up to obeying his wife...and does so patiently and with a smile. They obviously care about each other though the intensity...I dunno about that. I don't see Tohma as the type to go home and pounce on his wife after a long day at the office...nor does Mika look like the type. LOL. But they are very close and do harbor SOME love....I mean...look at the last few episodes...they just talk to sweet to each other and those looks...hmmmm? He's a guy who actually calls his wife when he'll be late, and obviously the type who doesn't mind cooking. But, he also seems faithful. I've never seen a hint in the series of him having affairs....and I don't think he would unless Mika picked out the culprit. Case in point, in the manga, Mika tries to cut a deal with Shuiichi. If he can convince Yuki Eiri to return to Kyoto [ they have to "break up" of course], she would give him Tohma to make up for it. Meaning Tohma would be the new lover. LOL. Strangely, Tohma came in with a smile and seemed very agreeable with the idea [ooooh, Tohma's bisexual! Weeee for all of us fangirls!]. However, Shuiichi did refuse Tohma because, though he admired and respected him, he didn't feel anything relating to love towards him...he wanted Eiri ^-^

Quote{s}: " I told you I wouldn't make it bad."

" I didn't know your ears were ticklish!" <---THAT'S THE QUOTE!!!

" Mika didn't ask me to. I came here because I wanted to."

" Ryuichi?! Oh yes, Kumagoro...that's right, isn't it?"

" I'll take responsibility." <--he says that a LOT when Bad Luck is involved.

" It's Gravitation."

Why I like him: This is my all-time fave character of Gravitation! He's just...wow! He's good looking, he's a snazzy dresser, he owns everyone, he can do anything he pleases, and he loves his job with a passion.

Noriko once asked if he was tired from all the work, being the president, and a band member, and worrying about Eiri and all this stuff....he replied, " No, actually I'm having a lot of fun." Talk about a guy who loves his work. My hero. LOL.

I must admit, I would have never guessed him for 32. I thought he was just some kid until I read a bio on him. I was like....32?! NO WAY! But, it's true...kinda like I wouldn't believe childish Ryuichi was 31. But anyway, I adore him, his dress, his personality. I don't think there is anything about him I don't like...except when he's not wearing his hat and wearing that ugly pink suit. LOL. That's the only outfit I despise...LOVE the weird green and purple one though LOL. And that cute fur!
