James F. Jackson Memorial

Welcome to the site and thanks for coming by to share my thoughts of the greatest man I ever knew. My father passed away February 21, 2004. He had been diagnosed with cancer on January 21, 2001. He had always said he had lived a good life and had everything he ever wanted and had been all over the world. He said he wanted Ňno tearsÓ when he left this world. That was easy for him to say. My father was a proud man. He didnŐt want even the closest of friends to know just how sick he was and the pain he endured. He made his family promise we would not tell his friends and the people at American Airlines that he had passed away until after he was buried. This was his request. He had his reasons and we felt we needed to respect his wishes. His last day on this earth was wonderful. He had so much fun. He laughed and carried on with family. We had no idea that he would be gone within a few hours. I held my fatherŐs hand when he left this world, we were praying. There is no doubt in my mind that my father is in a better place. He was ready to go, he was at peace.

I donŐt think a lot of people are aware that his children gave up a lot. My father was so dedicated to the union and protecting the rights of others that he missed out on our childhood. At the time, I didnŐt understand why he had to always be at the union hall or talking on the phone to people who had lost their jobs or about to lose them. It was not until I was an early adult I began to see that he was such a caring man. He worried about the families that would be affected by a job loss. You might say he dedicated his life to helping others. It was not until my father retired that he actually began to enjoy life. He was a family man. He was a second father to my children. He attended every function they were involved in. He had seen what he had missed out on. I am very proud of my father, he was a truly caring and dedicated man. He was a very fair man and expected everyone to be treated fairly. I am including a guest book and please sign in. I will come back and post more on this site and pictures of different times in his life, such as the Atlanta 10.

Sincerely,
Lori
