Franco is the administrator of XangaTracker.net, one of the most popular websites that offer free xanga trackers to people. I interviewed him back in November 2005 to include more random facts for my upcoming blog entry about xanga trackers. Thanks Franco!
me: How many people have registered for your service?
Franco: We have 21,469 members since Jun 2005. There are around 200 new members join us daily.
me: What country do most of these users live in?
Franco: We have 78.63% from U.S, 16.37% from Hong Kong, 2.35% from Canada.
me: Any features that your tracker provides that others don't?
Franco: Our service works as other do. But the tracker programmer, Lance, he will work on some new functions and we will give you guys some surprises on "Databases idea" and increase the performance of the tracker!

Why I start this tracker service?
Half year ago, my friends told me about some tracker stuffs about xanga, and they ask me if I know anything about it. Then I do some research and apply for other tracker service. However, I don't really like some of those tracker. For example, some of those are difficult to use, I don't even know how to use it. So I had a thought, "Why don't I host one by myself?", then I start this website, and names it "XangaTracker".
What are you guys busy on currently?
We received some comments from our users about the xangatracker speed, and I agree with them. Sometime, the tracker site load so slow. It's because we have thousand of connection to tracker system every second. (The server has to record every logs from +20000 members) So we just ordered a new server and we will move our tracker site to it. And I sure this server will give us a better performance. By limited budget, we have a rough time to find a new server with good performance and affordable pricing. The new server costs double of the one we are using now. However, as long as we can earn those server expenses from ads income, we are alright. Last month, the worst new is, we were been stop ads contract with Google. They are the mainly income for our server expenses. So I have to use our budget very carefully.
Some users were asking me a question, "Will XangaTracker charge us member fee later?".
And my answer here is : "NO! We are never going to charge you any member fee! XangaTracker is FREE! And it's going to be FREE!" I believe that by good administration, ads income and budget spending, we can work alone without charge user any money. Of coz, we welcome donation from you all, but you don't have to.
What is your future plan?
