Taylor- "Did I hear you correctly?!??!?"

"Hi. Is Lucy there?" I ask the phone.

"Hi Tay. Yes, I believe she is....please hold on."

I'm the only one in the hotel room, and I glance around, thinking about packing. Dad came in about ten minutes ago and told me to Tell Ike and Zac that we have an extra two days in Salem. That'll make them happy, however it might definitly strain my parents phone bill.

"Hello? Taylor?" I hear Lucy say, as her father hangs up the livingroom phone.

"Yah, Lucy, Hi."

"Taylor, you have really good timing. I just started to take the test, to find out....you know..."

"Yah." I say, my stomach flipping, "So....what's going on?"

"Well, the stick with either turn pink or blue. Pink is yes, Blue is no." She says. Then she sighs. "Tay, I spent a lot of time thinking, and, well, I have to ask you this. If i am....you know....whatever...would you please pose as the father?"

My mouth drops open. "Lucy! I...I mean...I could never do that. Never! I am sorry, but, I have to say no."

"Okay. I thought you would say that. I had to ask you, I had to." She says, sniffling. "I just thought, that maybe..."

"Lucy, I'm 15 years old. I'm not ready to be a father...I mean, For God's sake I didn't even have sex with you! Now, what's up with the stick? Colors?"

"Not yet...it says, like, half an hour or something. Look, Tay, I know that this is hard on you, but think of ME!"

"Lucy...I've done enough thinking about you. There are so many things I could say to start a fight right now, but to tell you the truth, I don't want to win one. Not under these circumstances."

"I'm not looking for a fight!"

"Sounds like you are."

"If you were in my situation..."

"I would never be in that situation! I didn't think you'd ever be either. I assumed you had more sense than that Lucy."

"I'm sorry I don't always fit into your vision of perfection. I don't need you to give me this dissapointed speech, I'll get it from my father if he needs to know, or have you forgotten that he is a priest?"

"Has it been half an hour yet?"

"Let me see....I urinated upon it five minutes before you called...and we've been talking for ten. Don't you think I'm counting down? For God's Sake Tay!"

"Well, I'll call you back."

I hang up the phone, not because I want to, but because I don't want to fight with her over her own mistake.
