Back in 1992 Miguel Angel Serrano, alias Mike Hillman left the band called "Silverados" for the musical reasons and in the same time Carlos Jiménez left behind another band called "Canallas" for same reasons. So these two fellows decided to join a country-blues duo under the name of "The Cottonpickers". They started to play music stuff from the 40´s-50´s as country,blues,spirituals and ofcourse good old rock´n´roll!. This duo played at all local clubs, beer pubs and wine cellars in Málaga area. At the same time in other part of the Andalucia (southern part of Spain) in Seville about 214 km away to north was celebration of the worldwide big exposition called Expo-92 where was a canadian honkytonk/country saloon "Rocky Mountain Saloon" where in the dark hot nights of Seville played local band "Uncle Williams" about their raw rockabilly music. The guy behind the doghousebass was Manél Galisteo. The time slips away and in turning for the new year -93 he moved back to Málaga and joined to play with Miguel Angel and Carlos with as "Raw Deal". They changed the name for "Mike Hillman & His Latin Hillbillies" end of -96. Their musical style is country, rhythm´n´blues, hillbilly, rockabilly, swing, from the 40´s to 50´s. The band has played with many intresting international rocking names as "The Barnshakers"(Finland), Mac Curtis(Forth Worth,Texas), "The Ricardos"(U.K.), "The Flying Saucers"(U.K.), "The Playboys"(U.K.), "Rock Therapy"(U.K.), etc... They have been played allover in cities and provinces of Spain let´s take some examples as in Barcelona, Madrid , Zaragoza , Valencia , Murcia , Málaga , and many others. One of the last big gigs where in wide known Torremolinos nearby Málaga with " Little Boy Arnold & The Moonlighters "( Marbella / Madrid ), and the wellknowns portuguese " The Tennessee Boys " ( Porto ) in 23rd of August, organized by local rocking club "Race Club". Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies played with the German teddy-boy quatert " Black Raven " in 21nd of March ´98 in " Pink Elephant " pub in Torremolinos.The CD album from Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies came out in 1st of September ´98.The recording session would be ready in early of June ´98 . Also the local Málagan r´n´r club " Rockin´Race Club " has released a brand new ´45 rpm e.p. record too with four rockin´ tracks ;three own pieces and one classic track by The Deacon &The Rock ´n´ Rollers the band went on tour in September/October ´98 to promote their " Have Bop Will Travel " debut CD album and they did some gigs in Skandinavian countries as Sweden as also in Finland. The Skandinavian tour took the place during 23-26 0f September in Sweden and in Finland the dates were: 23rd/9 in " Joseph Bar " Eskilstuna , Sweden , 24 th Tre Bocker , Hudiksvall (South of Umeå) , Sweden , 26 th/9 in Flen , Sweden at Live & Jazz Festival with other rockin´ acts from Scandinavia as The Hi Winders , Jack Baymoore , Sweet Jeena & her Ding Dong Daddies , etc..., 30 th / 9 in Pub Markus (Äänekoski) , Finland , 1 st of October at Bar Compton , Turku ,Finland , 2nd of October at Beefy Queen II ( with the famous d.j. Daddy-O), Helsinki , Finland , 3 rd of October at 56th R´n´R Jamboree in Aitoo , Finland , (together with another international rockin´acts as Robert Gordon, U.S.A. , etc...).The band also did during this tour a fantastic radio live show at "Tutti Frutti R´n´R Show" by Radio Mafia´s (91.9 MHz) "Roots Evening". Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies comienza su andura allá por 1.993 cuando por fin coinciden tres músicos pioneros del Rock´n´Roll en Málaga. Anteriormente, y por separado , cada uno de ellos realizó al frente de sus instrumentos una labor sorda , pero hoy gratificante en favor de dicha música. Sobre 1.992 Carlos Jiménez y Miguel Angel Serrano(el compositor de los temas del grupo) abondonan "Silverados" y "Canallas",respectivamente, y aúnan esfuezos por recuperar del olvido o del desconocimiento, temas clásicos y oscuros de la música popular americana. Bajo el nombre de "The Cottonpickers" recorren diferentes salas paseando un repertorio formado a base country, blues, espituales y sobre todo, Rock`n`Roll.Por aquél entonces entonces retorna a su Málaga natal con el cotrabajo bajo el brazo, Manél Galisteo , donde con los " Uncle Williams " amenizó las noches del " Rocky Mountain Saloon " de famosa Expo-92. En poco tiempo, el embrión de lo que hoy es " Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies " se encontraba ya trabajando con fé a prueba de bombas en lo que se puede decir que es su razón de ser: su música. " Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies " , the Rockabilly Combo, representa un ejemplo excepcional , tanto en su formación como en el estilo que practican , dentro de la oferta musical a la que habitualmente está acostumbrado el público que mantiene un interés por la música en directo. Miguel Angel, Carlos y Manél son los tres personajes compichados en la labor de predicar el evangelio del Rock`n`Roll entre cualquier audiencia y alcanzar así, una cierta comunión entre público y música. Para poseen la receta ideal a la hora de hacer un gran cóctel, al gusto de cualquiera, que de una forma u otra sea un apasionado de la tradición musical americana. Y es que lejos de ser meros revivalistas del género, anclados en hacer una simple revisión sectaria, "Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies" pretenden ofrecer una coleción de temas extraidos de los más diversos estilos musicales de los ´40 y ´50. Blues, Hillbilly, Honky Tonk, Swing, etc... son varios de los estilos que conforman la selección de ingredientes que " Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies " maneja, junto o por separado, a la hora de recrear un sonido particular , deudor del mejor Rockabilly de los ´50. Todo esto se traduce en un espectáculo en el que la precencia de un ritmo dinámico, sensorial, y de unas melodías directas y sugerentes , dan como resultado una música altamente contagiosa y terapéuticamente recomdendable para la salud de todos.
