(just so you know, this takes place in mid march-'97)

"Kacey? Are you ready to go yet?" her mom yelled from the front door.

"YES MOM! I just have to go to the bathroom, ok?" She yelled back.

"Alright, alright, we're all waiting for you in the car." She said, leaving the house.

'Gosh my mom is so pushy' she thought, as she grabbed her plane bag and ran outside to the car. 'Oh shit, the door' she thought as she ran back to lock the door, giving the foyer one last look.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Here you are miss, first class. Seat 9C." the sturdiest said.

"Thank you…Burtha" Kacey answered, reading her nametag. 'Burtha, what a funny name' she thought as she sat back in her chair and waited for the plane to take off. 'It really sucks that I have to go visit grams. 'Oh well, at least I get to sit in first class! This is really cool!'

"Would you like some soda while you wait miss?" Burtha said suddenly, causing Kacey to jump almost out of her seat.

"Oh, uh…yes please. Some Dr. Pepper if you have it." She answered.

"Oh, um…Burtha? Could you get me some Dr. Pepper also?" Said a voice from behind her.

"Oh yes sir, I'd be happy to" she answered and walked to the little closet in the back.

Kacey turned around to see who the 'sir' was that Burtha was talking about. 'Oh…he's hot' she thought right away.

"Hi, what's up?" he asked. 'Oh gosh he's talking to me, ok…stay cool' she thought."Oh, hey! Nothin much, how bout you?" she answered.

"Nothin, just waiting for my Dr. Pepper!" he said with a smile.

'Oh he had a sense of humor! How cute.' "Me too!" she said laughing. "So, why are you goin to Tulsa? Or are you just like going there to catch another plane?"

"Oh I live in Tulsa, I was just in Detroit to change planes." He answered.

"Oh, that's so weird 'cause I live in Detroit! Ya know, my grandparents live in Tulsa! I've never been there though. Is it nice…does it have like cool stuff to do?" she said, realizing she was blabbing on, while the cute guy was just staring at her."Sorry" she said with a shish smile.

"It's alright. I guess you like to talk huh?" he said.

"Well, actually…not really. I'm usually kinda shy, believe it or not."

"Really? Me too!" he said blushing.

The conversation sort of stopped there. Both of them had ran out of things to say to each other. Kacey really wanted to talk to him a lot more. She then thought of something.

"Hey" she said turning around, "I don't know your name."

"I don't know your name either." he said answering.

"Well, I asked you first" she said smoothly.

"Ah, you got me!" he said smiling, "My name's Taylor. Now what's yours?" "Mine's Kacey"

"Nice to meet you Kacey! Hey is there anyone sitting beside you?"

"Nope, your welcome to join me"

"Great." Taylor answered, moving himself next to Kacey.

"So, where were you before you came to Detroit?" she asked

"Oh, I was in LA with me and my family. I have an older brother, and 2 younger brothers, oh and 2 younger sisters too!" he answered.

"Woah! Did you guys ever fight?"

"Well, yeah sometimes, but nothin major-ya know?"

"Yeah. I have an older sister, and a younger sister. Nina and I always fight. She's my older sister. Megan is too young for me to fight with, she just turned 6. So enough with my family…why were you in LA? Were you on vacation or something?"

"Well, kind of. It's was a really long vacation. Well, ya see…me and my brothers write songs and stuff and we can sing so we thought we'd make an album! Actually this guy thought it'd be good for us to make an album, so then other people can listen to us!" he answered, giving Kacey a worried look, like she'd go ballistic something.

"WOW! That's soo cool! Remember me when you're famous!" Kacey said laughing.

"So, why are YOU going to Tulsa, oh wait…I remember…your grandparents."

"Yeah, my grandma's kind of sick and my mom wanted me to go down and visit her over spring break. It kinda sucks 'cause I can't hang out with my friends over spring break. But then it's nice to finally visit my grandma. I've never visited her before, so I'm kinda looking forward to it…" she went on with her story.

The conversation went on until they had to get off the plane. Kacey saw Taylor catch up with the rest of his family. She didn't want this to be the end of their short friendship. She quick ran over to him.

"Hey Taylor, can I call you sometime, since were both going to be in Tulsa? Maybe we could like hang out or something!" she asked.

"Yeah, that'd be great! Here ya go." He said handing her a paper with his number on it.

"Thanks! I'll call you tomorrow or something, that cool?"

"Yeah, that's cool! Bye." Taylor said, turning into the elevator.

She smiled, and turned away.

Chapter 1

"Hey Kacey, you have to check out this new CD I just got today! It's so awesome." Terrie said to Kacey over the phone.

"Oh cool, so come over already!" Kacey said surprised that Terrie hadn't already been over.

"Ok, ok, I just have to feed the damn dog first, then I'll be right over." Terrie said hanging up the phone even before Kacey had a chance to say goodbye.

"Well, goodbye to you too" Kacey said laughing at her best friend.

*ding dong*

"Oh, mom! Terrie's coming over-alright?"

"Ok honey but I have to talk to you remember…"

"Mom I know!! Stop bugging me about that, please!!"

As Kacey and Terrie ran upstairs to her room, Kacey tripped over Megan's new rollerblades.

"Dammit Megan, why don't you pick up after your self?" Kacey yelled. "Ok, anyway…who's the CD by?"

"Oh, right, the CD…I left it at home, hold on. I'll be right back." Terrie laughed as she ran back across the street to her house. Kacey went downstairs to see what her mom wanted to talk about.

"Hey mom, why did you want to talk to me?"

"Oh, right, the talk. Well, you might want to sit down." Nancy said with a straight face. "It's about Grandma."

Kacey didn't need to know any more. She knew her grandma had died, or that she is VERY sick.

"Di-i-i-d sh-e-e….."

"No she didn't die…….yet"

"Yet?"

"Yes, ya see…..well…you know how she was very ill? And well…" Nancy stopped and started crying.

"I know mom."

There was a long pause. The silence was interrupted by Terrie coming in the front door. She was shocked to see them sitting there crying.

"Ok, do you really want to know what's going on?" Nancy said all of a sudden.

"Yeah, tell me, I wanna know." Kacey said in between her tears.

"Ok, here it goes. Grammy has a bad liver. A very bad liver. The chances are is that she is going to pass on."

"Mom, I know all this already…is there any news I don't know of?" Kacey asked, hoping that there wasn't any.

"Yes, um…well, didn't you say that you loved Grammy and Grampy's house?"

"Yeah….were not….are we?" "Yes honey, I'm sorry. Daddy and me just thought this was the very best way to stay with Grammy and Grampy until, well, you know…"

Terrie started crying at this point. Kacey and Terrie have been friends since the 2nd grade, and they have never been apart for longer than 3 weeks at the most.

"Are we *snif* going to move *snif* there for good? *snif*" Kacey asked.

"Well, if Grammy doesn't get better, I'm pretty sure that we will…"

Chapter 2

It was now the last day of school, the day the Tresens' planned to catch their flight to Tulsa. It was the worst day of Kaceys life. Her grandmother had been in the same condition in the last 3 weeks. Right after school all of Kaceys friends came over to give her going away presents. She had to pack another box to fit all of the stuff, mostly picture books of all their memories, stuffed animals, and all of her friends pitched in and got this really huge card, and had everyone sign it in her 8th grade class. She went to a privet school so it wasn't all that crowded.

While Kacey was on the place ride, she remembered Burtha.

'Woah, why did I think of Burtha?' she thought. Then she remembered the kid she met on the plane ride last march. All the thinking made her tirade.

"Kace? Kace? Wake up Kacey, were here!" Megan yelled at the top of her lungs, everyone turned and looked at her.

"OK, ok, sorry. Don't yell, please!"

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~

"So, how do you like the house?" Kacey asked Nina.

"It's so dope! It's so huge! It's so awesome! I like it a lot!" Nina said with a smile that never left her face for the next 20 minutes. That was very abnormal for her.

"Well, I'm glad you like it girls, now lets unpack" Her dad said with a determined look on his face.

"Hey! Gramps! How ya doin old man? I haven't seen you in, what, 3 months?" Kacey said with sarcasm.

"Hey Kace, baby. How are YOU? How is all you?" he asked back.

"Oh were fine dad, did you clean up the house for us?" Nancy asked smiling.

"NO! Of course not! I knew these wonderful helpers were coming over, so I didn't bother." Gramps said laughing, "but I did make some dinner!"

"OHH" they all said, which caused them all to laugh!

As they were all going inside to get settled and get some grub, Kacey couldn't help but laugh at the 'family moment' she had just had!

'Oh man, that was scary!' she thought smiling.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~

Later that night, Kacey laid out her sleeping bag on the floor. 'Gosh, I sure hope the moving men get here tomorrow 'cause I don't think I can spend another night on this hard floor.' She thought.

"Oh just tough it out and go to sleep, Kacey. I know what you're thinking." Nina said, laying down.

"No, I was actually thinking about something else" she answered, quick thinking.

"Then what were you thinking hot shot?"

'Oh damn, she can't be right, I have to think of something' she thought, and thought…then she spotted her bad on the floor that still had it's plane ticket on it, she thought of Taylor.

"I was thinking of Taylor. Huh, so there, you were wrong!"

"Yeah but now you have to tell me who Taylor is or I won't let you sleep tonight." Nina said laughing.

"Gosh I just can't win, can I?"

"Nope-I'll out smart you every time!" Nina said, making Kacey giggle, causing her parents in the other room to yell out to them to be quiet.

"See, look what you did now…"

"Shut up and tell me who Taylor is…." Nina and Kacey just talked about basically everything, and became closer as sisters, which was for the better because they both had no friends in that town…and they needed to hang out with someone. Although Kacey did have Taylor's phone number….somewhere!

Chapter 3

It's been about 2 weeks since Kacey and her family has been down in Tulsa. Kacey and Nina were board out of their minds with all their unpacking and with their grandma's sickness. The one cool thing was that they lived about 2 blocks from the Tulsa mall! Kacey and Nina had to stay home to watch Megan while her parents went out to find some jobs, since they had officially decided to move to Tulsa.

"Hey Kace, wanna go to the mall today?" Nina asked as soon as they woke up.

"Sure, but can we pleeeease leave Megan home? She's so annoying!"

"Yeah if we hurry up now then we can go and be back before she wakes up!"

"Yeah that's cool, let's go!" Kacey said as she pulled on some boot cuts and a 'T', running downstairs and waiting for Nina.

As Kacey was going to go put on her platt (platform) sandals, she notices a folded up piece of paper laying behind the table. 'Oh, what's this?' she thought, 'one of Nina's notes? Hum…let's just see what is says, shall we?'

As Kacey unfolded the small folded up piece of paper, she noticed that it wasn't a note at all…it was Taylor's phone number!

She jumped up and down in joy, which happened to wake up Megan. "Why the heck are you jumping? I thought the house was going to collapse!" Megan scolded Kacey.

"Oh, dammit, go back to bed Megan…I won't yell again, just go back to bed, pleeease!?"

"O….k" she said yawning.

As Kacey was running up the stairs to tell Nina what she found, Nina was coming downstairs to leave. They collided. "Hey watch where your goin Kacey!" Nina said with a frown. "Oh sorry! I'm sorry! your fine…guess what? Guess what?" Kacey practically yelled

"Shhh, you'll wake up Megan! What tell me!"

"Guess what I found? You'll never guess! I found Taylor's phone number under the table!"

"Well, lets go call him, come on…"

"No, no, no…I can't! It's too early!"

Nina made Kacey promise that she'd call when they got back from the mall. When they got back from the mall, Megan was not in her room, she wasn't in the living room, or anywhere else in the house!

"MEGAN?? MEGAN??" Kacey and Nina yelled out searching for Megan around the block.

"Dammit Nina, why did you make us go to the mall?"

"I didn't make us go, it was your stupid idea!"

"Was not!"

"Was to!"

They got into a fight that was very loud. Kacey stopped when she noticed that Megan was across the field running around with another little girl that looked like she was Megan's age too.

"MEGAN! Get your butt over here right now!" Kacey yelled at the top of her lungs.

Megan and the other little girl started running over to Kacey and Nina.

"What? I was racing Avery!" Megan said with a frightened look on her face.

"Who the heck is Avery? Your imaginary friend?" Nina said laughing.

"No! This is Avery, she lives on the other side of that field. When I woke up you guys weren't home so I thought I'd go look for you but I found Avery! Where did you…" Megan explained being interrupted.

"Oh, I'm just glad you're alright…now lets go home sweetie, alright?" Kacey said with a big sigh.

"Can Avery come over, pleeeease?" Megan asked with a pleading look in her face.

"Oh, I don't care. Avery? Will you make sure you call your mommy and daddy when you get to our house, please?" Kacey asked. "I don't know our phone number!" She answered. "Well, how about we go over to your house so your mommy and daddy know where you will be and so I can meet them, is that alright with you, sweetie?" Nina asked.

"Alllllrigh" she said with a cute smile. All four girls raced back across the big field. 'Hey this is kinda fun' Kacey thought.

"Hey mommy?" Avery yelled walking into her house, "I'm going to Megan's house ok?"

"Sure sweetie. Wait, come back here. Who is Megan dear?" Her mother answered.

"Come here Megan." Avery yelled waving to us, saying for all of us to come in.

"Hi Avery's mom. I'm Kacey, and this is my little sister Megan. It seems that Avery and Megan have made friends!" Kacey said as polite as could be.

"And I'm Nina. We just moved in across that field over there"

"Hi girls nice to meet you. So did Mr. and Mrs. Doweling move?" She asked with a puzzled look on her face.

"Oh, no, we just moved into the house with them. They're our grandparents.

"Oh that's wonde…" She was saying but was interrupted by the stomps of her son coming downstairs. "Hey mom can we….oh sorry I'll come back when we don't have any…company…"

Kacey looked up to see who was talking...she saw Taylor!

Chapter 4

"Taylor?" Kacey asked.

"Kacey!!!???" He asked back.

"Oh my god! It's really you!" Kacey said completely shocked.

"You two know each other?" his mom asked very puzzled.

"Yeah, we met about 3 months ago on the plane. I was coming to visit my grandma and he was sitting behind me and we started taking…" Kacey explained continuing the story.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Later that day Kacey called Taylor and explained to him why she never called 3 months ago. She told him that she was to shy to call and was too hung up with her grandma being sick. He understood completely. He told her that he really wanted to meet her again, but didn't have any way of contacting her. They continued talking, and made plans to go hang out the next day.

"Hey Terrie, you'll never guess what?" Kacey said over the phone.

"What tell me!"

"Well, ya know how I told you about that guy I met on the place about 3 months ago? Well, I just saw him this morning and he lives right by me! Isn't that so cool?" Kacey said with excitement.

"O my god, no way! That's so awesome! So what's his name? What does he look like? Is he nice?" Terrie spilled out all her questions at once.

"Woah slow down! Ok…Taylor, long blond hair, blue eyes, and Yes! Got that?"

"AH that's so cool. I'm so happy for you, but I need details. How blond is his hair and how blue are his eye?"

"Oh gosh you would not believe his eyes…" Kacey started out, finishing up about and hour later.

"Hey Kace? I gotta jet, my brother need to get on line." Terrie said sadly.

"Oh, damn. Alright call me sometime this week, ok?"

"Ok, luv ya! Lucky piece of shhiii…poop!" Terrie said laughing.

"Luv ya too. Bye!" Kacey said hanging up the phone.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~(next day)~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Hey Tay? Mind if I call you Tay? Ok, cool. Do you wanna go to the mall or something?" Kacey asked over the phone.

"Yeah sure, my brother can drive us, ok?" he answered.

"Oh, cool your brother can drive! So in like 45? Is that alright?"

"Yeah that's good! Hey what's your number so I can call you?"

Kacey got all jumpy inside while giving him her number.

45 minutes later Taylor showed up at her door, out of breath.

"Sorry, I had to run over here, 'cause Isaac and Zac aren't ready to go yet." Taylor explained.

"There both coming?" she asked.

"Yeah, my mom said we all should go out, including Zac. But I'm warning you now…he's a little wacky!" Taylor said laughing.

"OK! Then do you mind if my sister comes along too?" Kacey said still giggling.

"Sure! The more the merrier!"

"Great, come on in, I'll go get her." Kacey said running up the stairs getting Nina.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~(at the mall)~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"INCOMMING!!!" yelled Zac while tossing a fisherman's hat over to Taylor.

"Hey cool pick Prozac!" Taylor said laughing.

"Prozac? That's a cool name for you!" Nina said laughing, "fits you to a 'T'!"

"No this fit's me to a 'T" Zac said holding up a T-shirt.

They all laughed, and had a great time at the mall that day.

"Hey we should do this again sometime!" Kacey said to Taylor.

"Yeah, we should." Zac interrupted.

Kacey really liked Taylor, but didn't think Taylor liked her back. Taylor liked Kacey, but didn't think it would work out because of his major popularity that had just popped up in the past month. He knew that if he started something that it wouldn't be a very good relationship. His manager told them that they were supposed to be going to Europe next month, because of their major popularity there. Taylor just thought that a good relationship with Kacey would be fine…and maybe later on they will evolve into something better!
