This is a short story I wrote that will defanitly make you think.
Casey closed the door quietly behind her. She adjusted her Adidas duffel bag on her shoulder, and ran down the driveway towards the street. She ran down the sidewalk and into her best friends Taylor and Zac’s backyard. She climbed up into the treehouse and set her bag on the floor. he sat on the floor and pulled two candles out of her bag and lit them with a mach. She leaned back agents the wall and watched the shadows dance on the walls. It was about 10:00pm on a warm Friday night in October. She knew the guys wouldn’t mind that she was here even though they were in LA working on their album. She had been a close friend to Tay and his family sense she had moved to Tulsa 9 years ago when she was 5. They had hit it off right then and had remained friends ever sense. They had been her only friends until she met Jessica and Brittany twins who were 14 (her age) who had moved next-door. But she Tay and Zac had remained really good friends. She and Ike were friends to but not as much as Zac and Tay. She looked outside at her house. It was dark. “They probably don’t even know I’m gone,” she thought to herself coldly. “Oh well it’ll just give me more time to figure out what to do next,” she said making herself comfortable in a corner. She had decided to run away for awhile because sooo many things were happening sooo fast she couldn’t handle it. First Tay and the guys had to go away for a year they left 6 months ago and wouldn’t be back until another month for the holidays. And in that period of time allot of things had happened that she needed Tay and Zac there to help her through it. Like her mom deciding to send her to public school after the guys had to go to LA, because she had been homechooling with them for her entire life she was not looking forward to it. She started in Sept, she hated it. She was glad they had finally gotten their big brake but she wished they didn’t have to be gone so long. Another thing that had pushed Casey to run away was that her dad traveled allot and she never got to see him and when she did he was usually fighting with her mom. And Jess and Brit had been busy with school and their new brother that she hadn’t been able to talk to her that much. So she had to go through all the pressures of school and and family pushing her to be perfect which she wasn’t, all by herself. Which any teenager would know, is hard. She remembered when the guys had left Tay had given her a necklace with a cross on it saying that she could wear it to remember their friendship. She wished he was here now so he could help her to figure out what she should do next. She probably wouldn’t have run away if he was, but she’s not blaming him for her problems. She just needed some time to think things out. She pulled out her discman and put in No Doubt. She fell asleep to Don’t Speak wishing she was anywhere but here. ************************************************ Casey squinted to see where she was going the sun shining in her face. She pushed her long strawberry blond hair out of her big doe like brown eyes. She had been gone for 3 days and she’s done pretty good she had found a place to sleep and had enough money to last for about a month. After the money ran out she was planning on getting a job. She was about two blocks away from her house. She walked towards the downtown area and into a McDonalds for breakfast. After that she went to a pay phone to call Jess and Brit just to see if her parents even care that she’s gone. “Hello?” someone said on the other line. “Is Jessica there?” She asked. “Cas?” she asked. “Yah,” she answered twisting the cord around her fingers. “Where are you?” she asked concern in her voice. “I can’t tell you,” she said knowing that if she did Jess would go to her parents. “Your parents are worried you know,” she told her. “Yah right,” Casey snorted. “How long do you think it’ll be before you come home?” she asked her. “I’m not sure a month maybe never,” she said. “Oh please come home please?” she said in a pleading voice. “I’ll be home when I’m ready,” she said. “I godda go,” she said seeing two police officers walking towards her. “Ok bye,” “Bye,” she said hanging up the phone and dogging the officers. She ran down an ally and onto a small side road. She started down the road it was dark and eerie. She shivered. Then she heard something in the bushes. She turned around to see a guy in a ski mask coming towards her. He grabbed her and she tried to scream but wasn’t successful because he put his hand over mouth and pulled her into the woods. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Chapter 2 Taylor looked out the car window. They were finally going home. They got off a month early but they had to do a few concerts the next week and the one after that but they’d be home in-between. He couldn’t wait to see Casey again it had been about 6 months sense he had seen her last. “Are we there yet?” Zac asked for the tenth time. “Yes it’ll be about 10 minutes,” his mom told him. “Ok good,” Zac said leaning back beside Taylor. “Do you think she’s changed any?” Zac asked him. “Who?” Tay said turning to face his little brother. “Casey,” “Oh, I don’t know, why?” “I was just wondering,” he said leaning back and looking out the window. Taylor looked at Isaac, he was listening to his discman. “I wonder if she has changed,” he thought remembering his best friend. They had known eachother for 8 years and could tell eachother anything. He felt bad for only calling her 4 times while they were gone but they were so busy. “We’re here!” Zac exclaimed interrupting Taylors thoughts. They jumped out of the van and he ran directly to Casey’s house wanting to surprise her. He knocked on the door and her mother Stefanie answered. She looked like she had been crying. “Hi Mrs.Warron, is something wrong?” he asked seeing the sadness in her eyes. “Hi Taylor, yes there is,” she answered her eyes filling with tears. “What?” he asked concerned. “It’s Casey,” she told him. His eyes grew wide. “Did something happen to her?” he asked fearing the worst. “Come in and I’ll tell you,” she said leading him to their living room. He knew this house well, he remembered coming here almost every day to see Casey. Casey’s 17 year old brother Mike was sitting in the kitchen a dazed look on his face. “Something really bad must have happened,” Tay thought fear griping his stomach. Casey and Mike were real close. Stefanie motioned for him to sit on the couch. She sat beside him. “Casey......Casey ran away,” she finally said. “She what!” he exclaimed. She nodded her filling with tears. “W..Why?” he stammered shocked. “She left this,” She handed him a note that Casey had written before leaving. It read: MOM & DAD, AS YOU’VE PROBABLY ALREADY I’VE RUN AWAY.(DUH!) I DON’T KNOW WHEN I’LL BE BACK IF EVER. I DON’T WANT YOU TO GO LOOKING FOR ME CAUSE YOU WON’T FIND ME. SO JUST GO ON WITH YOU LIFE AND FORGET ABOUT ME. (THAT PROBABLY WON’T BE THAT HARD) SO BYE FOREVER. CASEY PS TELL MIKE I LOVE HIM. He sat there staring at the hand written note not sure weather to cry or scream. She didn’t seem like she was having any problems last time he talked to her but then again that was 3 months ago. “When did she leave?” he asked handing the note back to her. “About three days ago,” she answered. “Have you called the police?” he asked. “Yes, they said they’d get on it as soon as they could,” she told him. “So they haven’t even started looking for her yet?” he asked getting a little angry. “No, right now they’re tracking a rapist killer,” she said. Taylors eyes grew wide. “Is he here in Tulsa?” he said praying that he wasn’t. “Yes, w-” her eyes grew wide also. “I’m calling the police again,” she said running over and hurriedly dialing the number of the police department. Taylor sat back on the couch, he pictured Casey lying in a gutter..... “No!” he told himself. “Tulsa is a big city he could be anywhere so could she,” he told himself close to tears. He had to tell Ike and Zac and find a way to get her home. He looked at Stefanie, she was still on the phone he motioned her telling her he would be back. She nodded and he ran out the door to his house which was a house down from hers. Isaac and Zac were helping his dad unload the stuff from their van. “Hay Ike, Zac, I need to talk to you,” he said as he reached them. “Just a sec,” Ike said pulling a large suitcase out of the back. “No now,” he said trying not to sound to desperate. Ike could see that something was wrong. So he and Zac followed their brother into the house and into their room. “What’s up,” Isaac said sitting on Tay’s bed as Taylor shut the door. Zac sat on the floor. “It’s Casey,” he said sitting on his bed by Ike. “What about her?” Zac asked sending something bad had happened. “She ran away,” he said eyes filling with tears. “WHAT!” Isaac and Zac exclaimed in unison. “Yah but that’s not the worst part,” he told them looking down at his feet. “What?” Zac asked concern in his voice. “There’s a rapist killer that was spotted about three blocks from here and...” “Oh man, oh man, oh man,” Zac said getting up and walking around the room. “Did her parents call the police?” Isaac asked. “Yah they said they would get on it as soon as they could,” he said putting his face in his hands. “Well that’s not soon enough!” Zac exclaimed. “I know but we can’t do anything about it,” Taylor said wiping tears from his face. “Yes there is,” Zac said grabbing Taylor by the arm and dragging him down the stairs. “What are you doing,” Taylor asked pulling Zac’s hand off his arm. “If the police won’t start looking for her then we should,” he said grabbing his rollerblades. “But how? Tulsa is a huge city she could be anywhere,” Taylor told him. “Yah well I’m gonna try, Are you coming?” he asked him. “Of corse,” he said grabbing his blades and putting them on. “So am I,” Isaac said. “Ok, Isaac you can use the car and drive around town. Tay and I can search the back roads,” Zac said heading for the door. “Mom we’re going out,” Isaac yelled to his mom. “Ok be back in time for dinner,” she yelled from the kitchen. “K!” he said walking out the door. Isaac hopped in his car and Tay and Zac started towards the more rural part of Tulsa. ************************************* Casey ran as fast as she could through the thick woods. She could hear heavy footsteps behind her. She tripped over a thick tree root but quickly got up. She looked back and could see him still running after her, so she ran even faster. He was almost able to reach her. He grabbed her shirt. She tried to get away but he was to strong for her. She tried to scream again but he put his hand on her mouth. She knew what he was going to do to her. She was scared. (*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(*(* Chapter 3 Taylor bladed down an ally behind McDonalds and he came to a small back road. He started down when he saw something on the side. He bladed towards it, when he got closer he saw it was a black Adidas duffel bag. He picked it up, it looked like Casey’s. For the third time fear griped his stomach. He opened it and a familiar picture of him and Casey in her backyard with there arms draped over eachothers shoulders. That was a month before they had left. This was Casey’s bag. He looked around for any clue that might tell him where she was. Nothing, he picked up her bag and started back to where he had left Zac. “Did you find anything?” Zac asked him. “Yah,” he said holding up her bag. His eyes grew wide. “Where did you find it?” he asked. “On the side of a back road on the other side of that ally,” he said pointing towards the ally he had just come out of. “Lets go back and see if there’s anything else,” he said starting to walk over towards the ally. “No,” Taylor said stopping him. “Why not?” Zac asked a puzzled look on his face. “Because for one thing I’ve already looked, and also it’s getting dark,” he finished. Zac shivered the thought of his best friend alone in the dark woods. Or maybe she wasn’t alone, maybe the rapist had her. He tried to brush that thought from his mind but deep down inside he knew it was probably true. They bladed home in silence. ****************************** ---The next day--- “Dad!” Taylor yelled from the bottom of the stairs. “I’m coming,” he yelled back from the top of the stairs. Taylor had told his parents what had happened and what he had found last night, and Walker had agreed to go with him, Zac and Ike back to where he had found her bag. Walker came downstairs and Taylor practically dragged them out to the car. They drove to the McDonalds and they got out and Taylor showed them the ally and where he had found her bag. Walker took a look around. “Hay Tay,” Zac said looking at something on the ground. He walked over and bent down to look at what Zac was pointing at. It was a bunch of footprints. “Hay dad,” Taylor called. “Looks like there was a struggle,” he said after looking at it for a few minutes. “Between who?” Zac asked. “Well these prints are fairly small,” he said pointing to the small ones. “And these are much larger,” he said pointing to the big ones. “So there was a struggle with a man and a young girl,” Walker said finally. “Who was probably Casey,” Isaac said sadly. “Hay Tay where are you going?” Zac asked as Taylor started into the woods. “I’m gonna go look for her,” he said. He walked deeper in before anyone could protest. “Hay Taylor at least let me go with you,” Isaac said running after him. Taylor slowed down to let Isaac catch up to him. ******************************************* Casey hit the guy who she now knew was Frank in the stomach. He grabbed her and holding a knife in his other hand. She kicked him where it hurts, hard! He fell to the ground in pain. She ran as fast as she could back into the woods. He had taken her to a small shack on the other side of the woods the night before. She ran until she was sure she had lost him. She sat down on a tree stump out of breath. She didn’t know what to do. She wished she had never ran away. Tears started streaming down her face. She remembered what had happened the night before, she had been kidnapped and raped and almost killed. **I’m not going to get into details but it was pretty bad.** She heard a twig snap. She took off running as fast as she could. She ran and ran until her legs hurt. She sat on the ground and leaned up agenst a tree. “Oh why me?” she cried. She fingered the necklace Taylor had given her. “Oh Taylor I wish you were here,” she said feeling tears welling up again. It was getting dark so she decided to try to get just a few hours of sleep. She leaned back and closed her eyes. Images of the night before flashed in her mind. She jumped up “Maybe I won’t,”. She sat back down and tried to think of something to keep her mind occupied. She decided to see if she could figure out what all the noises that she heard were. “Um a tree frog, ....an owl....a-” she heard something in the bushes behind her. “Not again,” she said taking off running again. She ran into something or someone, she wasn’t sure but she wasn’t going to find out. (it was a tree) She ran faster branches hitting her in the face but she didn’t care. Suddenly she felt someone grab her. She tried to scream but nothing came out. *********************************** She struggled to get out of his grip. “Casey?” a voice asked. She knew that voice it was Taylor. “Taylor!” she exclaimed. He enveloped her in a hug. “Oh Taylor I was so scared, I-” “Shhhh, it’s ok your safe now,” he said holding her closer. She rested her head on his shoulder, she was so glad, her nightmare was over. (or at least she thought it was.) They stood there for a few minutes in silence. “I’m so glad you’re ok, I thought you might have been kidnapped or killed,” he said after he let go. She looked at her hands. “What?” he asked. He looked into her eyes, he saw pain. “What’s wrong?” he asked again. “Oh Tay it was horrible,” she said burying her face in his shoulder. “What? Please tell me,” he said looking into her big brown eyes. “I was......I was kidnapped...and..” she had a hard time getting out the last part. “And raped,” she finally got out. “What!,” he exclaimed his eyes growing wide. “Yah,” she said tears streaming down her face. He held her until she had stopped crying. “But please don’t tell anyone,” she asked through tears. “Why not?” he asked concerned. “Because I won’t be able to face the kids at school, and even more my parents,” she sobbed. “But it’s not your fault,” he told her. “Yes it is, If I hadn’t ran away none of this would have ever happened,” she said a set of fresh tears streaming down her face. “It’s not your fault,” he said again. “Please promise me you won’t tell anyone,” she begged him. “I promise,” he said reluctantly. Chapter 4 “Hay Taylor where are you?” Isaac called. “Over here?” he called back. “Any luck?” he yelled trying to follow his voice. “Yah,” another voice called. He knew that voice it was Casey’s. “You found her,” he exclaimed after finding them. “Actually she found me,” he said smiling. “Yah,” she agreed also smiling. “Are you ok?” he asked her. “Yah, I’m fine,” she said wearily. “We’d better get you home,” he said taking her other arm and helping her back to the road which wasn’t that far away. ************************** Zac sat on the side of the road not sure what to think. His dad had gone to get the police and had told him to stay there just in case the guys came back before he did. “I hope she’s ok,” he thought to himself. “What could happen in 4 days,” “Allot,” he said out loud more depressed then ever. He heard something in the bushes. He turned around to see Isaac and Taylor helping a dirty, bloody (from the branches not to bad though) and weak Casey out of the woods. “Casey!” he exclaimed running to her and giving her a hug. “Hi Zac,” she said giving him a weak smile. “Is she ok?” he asked Isaac. “I’m not really sure,” he told him. Just then Walker and 4 police officers came running down the ally towards them. He saw Casey and walked over to her. “Hi Mr.Hanson,” she said weakly. “Hi Casey are you ok?” he asked. “Yah I think so,” she answered. “Do you think you can walk?” Zac asked. “Yah, I think so,” she said. Isaac and Taylor let go and she took a few steps away from them. Then she collapsed Taylor catching her. Chapter 5 It had been a month sense she had run away. She didn’t have any permanent injuries. Just trama related. “What?” he asked sitting beside her. “The rapist killer Frank Johnson has been captured today, the killer has kidnapped and raped 13 teenage girls and only 4 of them have been found alive,” “I’m glad they finally caut him,” Taylor said putting his arm around her shoulders. “Yah me to,” she said leaning back agenst the couch. “I just wish they had caut him before he had killed those other 4 girls,” she said sadly. After she had been found he escaped and kidnapped raped and killed 4 other girls. “Well I’m just glad you’re all right,” Taylor said giving her a hug. She was to. If she hadn’t been so strong she probably wouldn’t be here today. She was NEVER going to run away again. >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> K E E P S C R O L I N G D O W N | | | | | \|/ Casey got out with only a rape which is still pretty bad but atleast she still survived. Allot of girls get raped and killed each year, and it could all be prevented if people try to work out there problems instead of running away. Yah you think “Oh that could never happen to me,” but that’s what she thought and look what happened. So many reports about rape killings are everywhere nowadays, and most of them are normal girls between the ages of 12 and 18.(Actually you can be raped at any age almost anywhere, I even knew a girl who got raped in an elivator, so you need to be wise whearever you go) So if you’re thinking of running away think again because you might find that your problems are more workable then you thought. If you have any comments or need to tell someone your problems e-mail me I’m willing to listen.
