Darren McCarty

Darren McCarty is huge part of the Detroit Red Wings. He is one of the guys you would call Grinders. He gets this reputation because of what he did March 26 1997. He pummeled Claude Lemuix untill he turtled for revenge on what he did to his best friend,Kris Draper's face. This earned him respect from his teamates,his fans,and other teams. Although he IS only 6'1" and 214lbs. He isn't the biggest guy in the league untill you consider his heart. Darren cares a lot about his family. His father was diagnosed with bone-marrow cancer and this must have devastated him. He decided he could use his fame to raise money for the cancer. He created the McCarty Cancer Foundation. He lives in Westbloomfield Detroit with his wife,Cheryl,and his son,Griffen,and the newest member of the family, his daughter Emerson. He also has a reputation as a goal scorer. When he scored the cup-clinching goal in the Stanley Cup Finals showed everyone that he isn't just a tough guy. He is one of the best players in the NHL. In fact he won the ESPY award for that goal. Then he got the name "Big Mac!"
