O/S Page

Here you will find links to "other" operating systems I think are worth a look at.

FreeDOS Home Page
Home of the FreeDos project. The Goal of FreeDos is to make a totaly free MS-Dos clone. Has many bugs at this stage but they are the only group trying to make a Free Dos like O/S.

Caldera DR-Dos Home Page
Home of DR-Dos (also known as OpenDos) a good version of Dos that comes with network support and stacker. Free to test. Only prob I had with it was with some Dos games.

Linux Home Page
Linux is a free Unix clone. There are many versions out there (I use Slackware). Linux can turn your old 486 clunker into a powerful workstation!!! Hard for the beginner to setup and learn to run, but worth the time if you want a free powerful operating system.

FreeBSD Home Page
FreeBSD is another free Unix clone for the PC.

IBM O/S 2 Home Page
What Windows95 wanted to be.

AROS Home Page
If your into Amiga see what's to come...

WOS Home Page
The goal of this group is to make a Free OS that can run Windows 95/NT apps.

WEBOS Home Page
A wide area Web based O/S.

AIOS Home Page
The goal of this group is an OS that will implement artificial intelligence in the O/S.

There are many more groups that are making new OS's all the time. If you come across one you think should get listed here drop me a line.

I left out Freedows98 as most of the links to that page do not work all the time and I have not seen an update so far this year.

I also left out Windows95 as it is not a "True O/S" (runs on top of Dos 7.00) and is not a "other" O/S as it is everywhere.
