This is Steina!

Steina Lauscher
Icelandic mare
palomino
13hh
13 years old
loves treats and long walks on the road
Brood mare

When we first got Steina (August 98), she was a very shy timid horse that ran away as soon as she saw someone entering the fence of her pasture. She was extremely head shy. She never kicked (thank God) and once caught acted very mannerly, but she didn't trust us enough for some activities. Now close to being a year later, Steina trusts her main care-givers (there's about 4 or 5 of us). Well now it's going to sound like I'm describing a different horse, because I guess I am. Now instead of running away at the sight of people, she comes as quick as she can. She picks up her feet as soon as you bend down. We had the saddle on her a couple of times, and she took it better than some horses I know that have a great deal of trainning. She was bred with a Icelandic red bay, which means that the foal could turn out to be any colour. Personally I'm hoping for a pinto because I think they are so cute. Remember, if you have any questions or comments, you can e-mail me at: i_love_icys@hotmail.com

Of course we have only had Steina since the fall so we really only have winter pictures of her. Come summmer she is going to have a beautiful golden coat and a bright white mane.
