Photos of May Day in Honolulu, a week in Indiana, and a day New York City.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, and also the occassion of the Brothers Cazimaro Concert at the Waikiki Shell. John Schamber, Wayne Yoshigai, Kathy Sharp and I have made this an annual tradition.

I flew to Indiana (via Newark) to see the new Quick (Daddy and Margaret)house. The house is so lovely and liveable. I also got to eat all of my favorite Hoosier specialties.

When I arrived, Steve Frye was there with an offer on the old house. Daddy is signing the contract. Margaret is not too unhappy about signing.

My brother John and his wife Cheryl drove down from Chicago to visit. Gene Alexander graciously treated Bill, Margaret, Daddy, and I to dinner at the Elks.

The back yard of the new house is lovely. Margaret, me, and Daddy before I left to go to NYC.

Then it was on to NYC. Bill, Mandy, and I spent the day at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. The grounds are huge and encompass a variety of plants. We ate lunch at the Garden Cafe, took the tram ride, and wandered for hours. They have a web site if you are interested: www.nybg.org

This is the Haupt Conservatory. It has a desert, rain forest, and peony exhibits. Mandy at the rear of the conservatory.

This fuzzy plant really caught my attention. The special peony display.

I had a ham and brie sandwich and some wonderful chocolate cake. The Rock Garden was truly beautiful.

Best sign I have seen in a public place (Click on it if you can't read it). I missed the peak of the lilac garden...

...but I did manage to find a tree to sniff. There is a river that runs through the gardens. Mandy and Bill on the bridge.

The dam that had been built for a mill on the grounds years ago. A black squirrel is in this photo.

Mandy is enjoying the beautiful azaleas. This azalea bush in the Rock Garden was huge.

Azaleas everywhere. And more azaleas.

Black pansies. And gorgeous tulips.

And more tulips. Two nights of Trivial Pursuit - Mandy won both nights.
