There is a reason for everything

Although Star trek belongs to Paramount, this story is MINE! So if you belong to Paramount, GET OUT! Others, welcome.

On that day duty was boring. I didn't remember such a peaceful day in this damn quadrant. I left the bridge to Tuvok and went to the turbolift. The lift stopped at Holodeck and Kathryn Janeway stormed into.

"Cap..." I started to greet her, but suddenly realized her poor appearance. Her allways perfectly combed hair was dishevelled, uniform untidy. The turtleneck untucked, the zip of her jacket was open, her ripped trousers barely covered her legs and she lost one of the pips somewhere. Her face was pale and covered with sweat, so she looked like who had a fight with a very angry Klingon and lost the battle.

"Captain, what's happened?" I didn't get any answer. She didn't even look at me. "Turbolift stop!" She tried to put her uniform straight with trembling hands, without success.

"Kathryn, what's happened?"asked her again. Silence. She still refused either answer the question or look at me. I lift her chin up to force her to see me, but the frightened look in her eyes made me worry. At that moment her legs couldn't carry her weight more and she would have dropped to the floor if I hadn't had caught her. I enfold her in my arms and felt her trembling.

"Would you tell me what's happened?" She didn't say a word, but shook her head.

"All right. I call the security..."

"Don't!" she screamed "Nothing had happened! Nothing... nothing..."

"I go to the sickbay with you."

"No! I don't want the Doctor to see me! Chakotay, please!" she clung on me, so I felt her weekness, although her whole body was stiff, and her fingers were arched like the claws of a bird.

"Aye, madam!" she didn't smiled on my words. Her state was more serious than I thought. I caressed her and murmured soft words. At last she slowly started crying and much to my astonishment she kept saying my name over and over again.

"Computer, Officers Quarters! Is there anybody on the corridor?"

"Negative" I lifted her up easily, but she started to fight against my actions.

"Ssshh...don't make me angry, Kathryn! I bring you to my quarters." She hid her face in the crook of my neck and kept still.

Fortunately, we didn't meet any crewmembers on the corridor. When we reached my quarters Kathryn squirmed a little, but she remained still, because I told her that I could bring her to the sickbay instead of my place. I didn't turn the lights on, just initialize privacy lock and sat down to the sofa with Kathryn in my arms. I lost my sense of time, just held my crying Captain in the darkness. Her fitful crying slowly was over. When she calmed down, she suddenly freed herself from my arms.

"I'm sorry Commander. I didn't want you to see me in this state. Thank you for your help." Her captain-face was on and she tried to go to her quarters but I caught her arm.

"No, my dear Captain. You aren't going to run anywhere. I asked you a question in the lift, and you didn't answer. Do you remember?" She nodded.

"Chakotay, believe me, nothing had happened!"

"That's why you cried..." She blushed and wanted to escape."I want answers, Kathryn. Come, sit down and tell me everything. Computer, lights 25 percent!" She remained silent, but sat down next to me.

To be continued on Reason Nr1.
