BIH is also known as Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension or Pseudotumour Cerebi. It is a rare condition affecting about 1 or 2 people in every 100,000. Although anyone can be affected it is most common in women of childbearing age who have a tendancy to be overweight. There are no definate causes of BIH. Links have been made with hormone imbalance, being overweight and steroid withdrawl but there are no particular causes.
