Adrian Shepherd

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>by dj mula

mula:What is your full name?

shep:Adrian Shepherd

mula:When did you start dj-ing?

shep:since I was 15 Im 21 now so about 6 years, but i've only been doing the Tutntablism thing for about 3 years before that I was just playing club sets .

mula:Why did you start?

shep:This guy i used to skate with was playing in clubs at the time and I used to just go to different clubs with him and just learn from the dj's by watching what they did and how they did it !

mula:What was your first setup?

shep:a tape deck running looped beats connected to a crappy realistic mixer (no cross fader) and a belt driven deck ! (it was real bad but I pulled off some alright stuff.

mula:Who is your favourite dj?

shep:MixMasterMike just cause his so aggressive with his style and so creative

mula:How many comps have you entered and what have been your best placings?

shep:I've been in four comp's so far and my best placing was winning the Dj Battle 2000 comp (that was dope)

mula:Who is your main influence?

shep:ISP, X-men, 5th platoon,

mula:What is your current setup?

shep:2 x Technic 1200's , Vestax 05 Pro mixer, Shure M44-7 needles ( there dooppee)

mula:Are you sponsered?

shep:not for djing ...... still skating for rollerblaze though !

mula:Where do you buy most of your records from?

shep:I used to shop alot at a well known record chain, but due to there prices and egos i try my hardest to buy from smaller stores. these days I often go 2nd hand record shopping and try and find as many spun out sounds and samples for my battle sets. and it's alot cheeper.

mula:What is your favourite scratch/technique?

shep:I don't really have a favourite, but I really like combining juggling and scratching in the same routine (it feels sweet)

mula:Are you in any dj teams/crews?

shep:thats a secert for now , but keep an eye out though !

mula:Favourite scratch sound?

shep:I really like cutting up stretched out singing voices (if you can understand that)

mula:What nightclubs have you played at?

shep:I've played at heeps but my favourites would be Goodbar (sydney) Mt Hothem ( victoria) Aus Skating titles (melboune) Cargo (Adelaide)

mula:I have noticed that you have changed your appearance/styles when you dj over the last couple of years, do you think that people watching you should just listen to the music or say "this guy looks kool"?

shep:If you like my beats then you will like me, If you can't look past my haircut and my shoes then maybe your in the wrong club !

mula:Where do you see yourself at the end of 2000.

shep:This year Im just gonna continue practing my battle sets and also continue performing and recording with my band KUDOS. I also am doing a show at Mt Hothem again in a couple of weeks and Im currently just trying to put together some overseas work at the moment too.

mula:Anything else you would like to say?
