Canibus Vs Eminem...The Whole Story

Canibus came on the scene in 97, he was blowing the industry away with raw, mind boggling lyrics. Verse after verse people were amazed. But only a couple of years later a new kid came along. A white MC that made moves in Rap Olympics, and was definetly causing some controversy. Dr Dre has signed Eminem. As both were new to the game, and both thrieving to be known as number 1, this caused a little rivalry. There has been references to each other in tracks/freestyles/interviews. here we explore them. On Eminem's debut LP on Aftermath, Slim Shady LP, on number 9 he mentions Canibus' name. 'I'm cancerous, so when I diss you wouldn't wanna answer this If you responded back with a battle rap you wrote for Canibus'. Some people saw this as a diss, as if calling Canibus a biter or he doesnt write his own material. In 1998/99 I was listening to the Tim Westwood show here In United Kingdom. The nights guests were Eminem and D12. Eminem has just released SSLP while D12 were unknown at the time. They chatted for a while about the album and the future then Tim asked them to freestyle. The took to the mic back and fourth recieting some old verses then some off the top of the dome freestyles. Some where in between Eminem rapped, 'Can U Bus? no You Cant! But i'm Slim Shady and I'm the Man'. MC Proof of D12 also continued: ' I found out where Canibus' money went! I borrowed a dollar from Wyclef'. I'm not sure if Canibus heard this right away as it was in another country overseas. But you can bet he has heard it. In some interviews, they both shown respect to each other, saying theres no beef and that they admire one another'stalent.

But in another freestyle in UK, Canibus performed these lyrics in front of a live audience: ' I'm tired of all these wack n****z and wack Wiggaz, with wack lyrics! Bring that shit to the rap olympics.' This is not necessarily an inuslt towards Eminem but some see it as referring to him as a wigger and also referring to rap olympics. Ofcourse we all know Em is white and competed at Rap Olympics. Another rumour has been circulatin' that Canibus and Eminem battled live on stage, this is not true whatsoever. There is no proof of this and both have denied it. In more recent times, some websites reported that Canibus unleashed 'Next Round Knockout'. A full diss track towards the Eminem and D12 camp. Some even said that Eminem had already recorded a responce with Wyclef and LL. No-one has heard these tracks, so I guess they were just rumours. This beef is no where near as large as the one with LL, but some rivalry does exist. If there is any more twists in this story, we'll be first to report.
