1999 REVISED ELECTION RULES

Philippine Physical Therapy Association

 

I.  POSITIONS

A.     Eleven positions for Board of Directors are open for elections;

 

II. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

A.     Nominee should be a Lifetime Member of the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc.

B.     Nominee should be a member of Good Standing for at least Two Years prior to nomination with no outstanding record that shall cast doubt on nominee’s integrity;

C.     Nominee should be a practicing physical therapist for at least Three Years in the clinical or academic setting prior to nomination.

 

III.  NOMINATION PROCEDURE

A.     A person may be nominated to the position by a colleague or an institution, provided nominee meets the minimum eligibility requirements;

B.     Nomination is made formal by submission of a duly accomplished nomination form (Appendix A) with the additional requirements to the Nomination Screening Board not later than date set-forth by the incumbent Board of Directors of the Association;

C.     Additional requirements should accompany nomination form, to wit:

1.      Photocopy of College Diploma

2.      Photocopy of PRC License card

3.      Photocopy of PPTA Membership card

4.      Photocopy of Certificate of Live Birth

 

IV.  SCREENING OF NOMINEES

A.     Nominations to the Board of Directors positions shall be screened by the Nomination Screening Board on grounds of eligibility;

B.     Nominees qualified to seek position in the election shall be notified by the incumbent Board of Directors of the PPTA and are requested to be personally present in the election;

C.     Nominees may be disqualified from seeking the electoral post based on eligibility requirements;

D.     Decision of the Nomination Screening Board shall be Final and Unappealable

 

V.  ANNOUNCEMENT OF QUALIFIED NOMINEES

A.     Qualified nominees shall be notified by the incumbent Board of Directors of the PPTA and shall be requested to be personally present in the election;

Names of candidates qualified to seek electoral positions shall be posted on the venue of the election for reference purposes.

 

VI.  ELECTION PROPER

A.     Election of the new set of Board of Directors shall be done through secret ballots;

B.     Voting population shall be construed as the same as the number of attendees eligible to vote present during the election;

C.     Opening and canvassing of ballots shall be done immediately after the casting of ballots.

 

VII.  VALID AND INVALID VOTES

A.     Valid votes shall be those that fall within the following conditions:

1.      Correct spelling of the Full Name of nominee;

2.      Correct spelling of just the First Name or Surname of the nominee provided that no other nominee has the same first or last name;

3.      Incorrect spelling of full, first or last name provided that the name written on the ballot has a strong resemblance in pronunciation of actual name of nominee, and that provided it agrees with the preceding item.

B.     Invalid votes

1.      Combination of names of different nominees;

2.      Incorrect spelling of full, first or last name of nominee that does not have strong resemblance in pronunciation to actual name of nominee.

 

VIII.  WINNERS / BOARD OF DIRECTORS - ELECT

A.     Top eleven nominees garnering the most number of valid votes shall be declared BOARD OF DIRECTORS – ELECT;

B.     In the event that more than one nominee garner equal number of votes for the eleventh slot, the names of said nominees shall be subjected to the voting population again for election, method of which will be decided by the incumbent Board of Directors.

 

IX.  FAILURE OF NOMINATION

A.     Failure of nomination may be declared by the COMELEC in the event that no nominations were made or received by the COMELEC, or no nominee qualified for the eligibility requirements;

In the event that there is less than eleven qualified nominees for the electoral post, the COMELEC may, in its discretion, allow oral nominations and conduct inquiry of nominee’s eligibility on a manner it deems appropriate on actual election date.
