Welcome to the Festival City of Australia, and home to the Irish Australians GFC. Adelaide South Australia.

Welcome

Welcome to the home of the Irish Australians GFC in Adelaide City. Its great to have you here. We are a friendly bunch of Gaelic Footballers !!! In 1998/99 we were the Inaugural winners of the Ladies Competition winning the "Tom Finn Memorial Cup". We were previously known that season as 'Celtic Mna' a then stand alone ladies team.

Our Official Club Sponsor for 2000/2001 is the Daniel O Connell Hotel in North Adelaide.

History

On 16th October 1999 in the Adelaide suburb of Woodville a meeting took place that was to see the birth of the 'Irish Australians GFC Adelaide The Sister club to the Irish Australians GFC in Sydney. Present that day were AJ O Donnell, Marlene Nicol, Bernadette Berry, Catherine O Connor, Sean Fitzgibbon.

Our Gaelic Football Club formely known as 'Celtic Mna' voted in full confidence to amalgamate with the Sydneysiders. The players all unaminously supported the new move at the first team meeting and training session held at Brighton Rugby Club on 17th October 1999 hosted by trainer Andrew Korff. The South Australian GAA Competition started on October 22nd 1999 with The Irish Aussies GFC in action against Onkaparinga.

The GF &HA of SA Officially accepted the name change on Tuesday 26th October at a committe meeting.

The Irish Australians Mens team played their first game (pre-season friendly) against Glenelg Gaels on 12th Jan 2000 in which we were comfortable winners and then made our Official debut as a team in the SA Comp on 16th January 2000 against St Brendans in which we struggled against more experienced competition.. In our first Season the going was then abit tough but we were very unlucky in some of the matches that we lost. Still we are building on our first Season of gaelic football and look forward to 2000/2001.
