Yanagi

November 25, 1944-The Yanagi is launched from Fujinagata Z. in Osaka.

January 8, 1945-The Yanagi is commissioned and assigned to Destroyer Squadron 11 for training operations.

March 15, 1945-The Yanagi is assigned to Destroyer Division 53, Destroyer Squadron 11.

April 1, 1945-The Yanagi is reassigned to the Second Fleet temporarily.

April 20, 1945-The Yanagi is reassigned back to the Combined Fleet.

May 22, 1945-The Yanagi leaves Kure, bound for Ominato for patrol and escort duties.

July 14, 1945-The Yanagi receives heavy damage during an air attack near Ashizaki, in the Tsugaru Straits. The destroyers bow is severed, forcing the ship to be towed to Ominato.

July 15, 1945-The Yanagi is reassigned to the Ominato Guard District, although not actively participating as a result of the damages received in the previous days attacks.

August 9, 1945-The Yanagi is further damaged by an air attack at Ominato, carried out by aircraft from Task Force 38. The ship is then towed to Hakkodate.

April 1, 1947-The Yanagi is broken up.
