The Dickinson County water Quality Commission is a group that was formed by a 28-E agreement between all the incorporated areas of the county and the county board of supervisors.  The 28-E agreement has created the potential for $1.5 Million to be spent on water quality projects that will effect the watersheds of Dickinson County lakes.  This agreement in the state that was established for water quality.  

The Goals for the water Quality Commission were to match local dollars to state, federal and private funds.  The goal was to be able to match $3 of state, federal and private funds to every dollar that was appropriated by the Water Quality Commission.  Another goal was to use some funds in the Jackson County, Minnesota portions of the Dickinson County Lakes Watersheds.  The forming of the Water Quality Commission also gave all the partners in the agreement a place to send any person or group looking for funds to improve water quality.  

The Water Quality Commission 2003 fiscal year, there was $100,000 available for project.  The Water Quality Commission received 13 applications with a total request of $184,903.  Nine of the thirteen projects were funded in 2003.  Overall, the Water Quality Commission funds were matched $6 to every dollar that the commission appropriated.  

The Water Quality Commission 2004 fiscal year, there was $200,000 available for project.  The Water Quality Commission received 14 applications with a total request of $357,851.  Nine of the fourteen projects were funded in 2004.   Overall, the Water Quality Commission funds were matched $12 to every dollar that the commission appropriated.
