Magyarország területére zsidó vallású kereskedok és rabszolgák a római hódítókkal érkeztek az iu.3.században.
A légiós katonaság mellett Kis-ázsiai kereskedök is letelepedtek, ebböl az idöböl jelképeketl bekarcolva a régi római sírkövekbe. A honfoglaló magyarokkal 895-ben kazár törzsek is érkeztek, akik hazájukban a zsidó vallást gyakorolták.
