Angel On Loan

I thought that angels only lived, Aloft in Heaven high
Praise and glory gave each day, On pearly wings did fly
Attending to the needs of Saints, Called home to be with God
Never did I dare believe, Angels on Earth might trod

One day not very long ago, My thoughts began to shift
The gloom I felt was carried far, By winged feet so swift
I found that when I was afraid, A being calmed my fears
When overcome by sorrow deep, A hand wiped way my tears

I now believe that angels walk, Beside us here on Earth
They come along to ease our pain, Or laugh with joyous mirth
Each of us may have indeed, An angel all our own
Perhaps God gives to us below, This gift on heavenly loan

Thanks to K. Burton for sending this to me.
I'll lend you for a time, a child of mine, He said
For you to love while he lives, and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from Earth must return,
But there are lessons taught on Earth I want this child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, and not think it in vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call and take him home again?
I fancied that I heard them say, Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.

Sent in by a reader, Thank you.
Angles are Always There...
Surrounding you are angels,
They are there to guide your path.
If weakness overcomes you,
They'll give you strength if you ask.

They are your protection,
When life seems to hard to bear.
And though you feel alone at times,
The angels... they are there.

Their faces may be hidden,
And their voices you might not hear,
But they are ALWAYS with you,
Through your laughter or your tears.

They'll walk along beside you,
They'll guide your steps along they way.
They comfort you and hold you,
Protect you night and day.

They'll hold your hand tightly,
They'll never let it go.
And they'll gently lead you forward,
Taking each step very slow.

For even as you slumber,
They watch closely over you.
They are there beside you,
In each and everything you do.

When life is overwhelming,
And your spirit has grown tired,
Know they'll be there for you,
To uplift and to inspire.

And when you're torn and lonely,
And you see no hope ahead,
Know that they will nourish you,
Your spirit will be fed.

And if there comes a time in life,
That your heart has been broken,
Hear the words, "I'm here, my child,"
And know your angel has spoken.

For even in the darkest hour,
When all of hope seems gone,
They'll give you strength to live your life,
And desire to go on.

And when the time comes,
For you to say "goodbye,"
The angels will be with you,
They will lift you to the skies.

Take comfort in their guidance,
Draw strength from up above,
And know that their sweet presence,
Is God's precious gift of love.
