For the historically interested among you, here's a collection of news from days gone past: |
|
May 31st, 1999 Be sure to check out Desslock's new MM7 preview. The article includes a 4 page interview with co-producer Keith Francart. Oh, and we have added 3 new sites ("Dark Dragon's RPG Cavern", "Grota Magii", and "Tyger's MM7 page") to our Links page. While you're there, you should also follow the link to "The Souls of Erathia", which boasts a brand new layout. Good job, Rind! ; ) May 29th, 1999 We have updated the FAQ so that it reflects the fact that the game is done and on it's way to the shelves. If you don't live in the US it might be a good idea to check 3DO's list of international distributors - in most cases you'll be able to find out when it hits your country by visiting the website of the distibutor that covers your area. May 27th, 1999 Woohoo! Might and Magic VII has gone GOLD! Zoop has announced that the game *is* out the door - now we're waiting for the release date, June 8th. Congrats goes out to Rasputin who won the 3DO speaker contest! Lucky you! Also, if you're a webmaster who would like to link to us - or indeed if you're doing it already - check out the buttons we have made available at the About page. May 26th, 1999 The buzz of the moment is that 3DO may not anounce when the game goes gold, but hold their breath 'til the actual release. Producer Peter Ruy has been very quiet lately, and if the release date announced at the 3DO store, June 8th, is accurate - well, there may be some truth to these rumors. From the day it goes gold it normally takes a game a week or two to hit the shelves...and the 8th of June is just 13 days away today. May 25th, 1999 This is great stuff! Our favorite non-TELP webmaster, 3DO's Guthwulf, has worked his magic at the 3DO website. He has introduced a whole new community-/board system where you sign in with a personal profile (and portrait), can advance levels, have community mail and much more. Go sign in now! Still no word on the status of MM7 (we're still waiting for the word "Gold") or the Speaker contest (see the news from May 18th). And be sure to check out the E3 preview at Games Domain - but don't believe what it says about MM8. Zoop has announced that that's simply not true. May 24th, 1999 Our Tavern is back up! Thanks, ITW! Our Spells section has been updated with info from Ubisoft UK, the British distributor of MM7. Now, you can find the effects of all the spells at Normal, Expert-, Master- and Grandmaster-level. Go check it out! May 23rd, 1999 Our Tavern is down! It seems the guys at InsideTheWeb, who are hosting our messageboard, have taken the weekend off. We're of course sorry for the inconvinience, and surely hope that things will be back to normal in the morning. While we're all waiting for the game to go gold (considering the release date mentioned below, it should happen in the beginning of next week), it's worth mentioning that Chips and Bits Online Store now takes preorders for MM8 (sic) and lists the release date as March 2000! Oh, and we have added some sketches to the Screenshots page. May 21st, 1999 Word from 3DO on the release date! Within the last couple of hours 3DO's online store changed their posting of MM7's release date. Where it just said "Early June" it's now changed to *June 8th*!!!! You should check out 3DO's MM7 board where a lot of fans are waiting to hear something (involving the word "gold" for some reason ; )) from Zoop. May 20th, 1999 Posing as "Druid", Producer Peter "Zoop" Ruy posted the number of remaining known bugs in MM7 on the 3DO MM7 board yesterday. How many, you ask? Well, 0! *Zero*! The game can go gold any time now : ) Today he said that there are currently no plans for a DVD version - but he wants to know if anyone is particularly interested in this, so if you're dying for a DVD version, get over there and make yourself heard! May 19th, 1999 Lots of nice news today: On 3DO's MM7 board Zoop posted that there will be a total of 20 portraits available for player characters. Details on the Portraits page. Also, he said that optional mouse movement will be an MM8 feature, that the world of MM7 is a bit smaller than MM6 (sic) but that there'll be more dungeons and "points of interest", so that total playing time (for each path, Light and Dark) will resemble that of MM6. Finally he noted that the game will run in VGA (640x480), and that although the graphics are improved they are still not the game's main selling point. On a more narcissistic note, we passed 1000 hits today ! Woohoo! Thanks to all of you who are stopping by : ) May 18th, 1999 This just in: We've found an annotated map of the world of Erathia! Go check it out! In other happy news, Zoop reappeared on 3DO's MM7 board yesterday. He said that the game will go gold very soon and, when asked to be more specific, said that it meant in a couple of days. Also, he announced a contest! If you know the answer to "Which item in MM6 gave the player 2 skill points", email the answer to mm7-speaker@nwcomputing.com. Remember to put the word "Speakers" in the subject line. You can win a set of speakers they used at E3. The original messages can be found here, here, and here. May 17th, 1999 Gamespot's E3 news site posted some MM7 screenshots yesterday. Not a lot of new stuff, but you might want to check it out anyway. For instance, you'll notice some differences in the way the player characters are presented; compare this with this... May 15th, 1999 It seems the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in L.A. is *the* place to be these days. Among the zillions of games on display is our most anticipated title, MM7. Here's some tidbits from E3 of special interest to us M&M gamers: CNET Gamecenter's feature on the 3DO lineup and a short feature on MM7 from E3.net. Also, it's worth noticing that 3DO's own online store lists MM7's release as "Early June 1999". Let's hope they know what they're talking about ; ) May 13th, 1999 With most available news stories focusing on E3, we spotted that Desslock of Desslock's RPG News reportedly spoke with members of the MM7 development team, and they told him that the game is "very, very close to being completed". That's about all there is to it, but if you wish, you can read the full story here. Also, a press release praising MM7's support for A3D (one of the two major 3D audio standards, with EAX (also supported in MM7) being the other) has surfaced. Read more here. May 12th, 1999 Force feedback in MM7?! Rydric, moderator of the 3DO HoMM3 board, spotted an infobit from Logitech on FGN Online which stated that MM7 is among the games that will support Logitech's upcoming Force Feedback Mouse. One would have thought that that kind of thing was reserved for shoot 'em ups like Quake 3 (of which there's now a demo available, BTW). What do you think? Is this cool or just plain silly? As with the portraits, you're invited to express your opinion on this matter in the Tavern. May 11th, 1999 Woohoo! It seems we solved our Netscape 4.05 compability problem! Thanks a million to Troy from Magic Grounds who figured it out, and thus earned himself a spot on our Thanks page. Also, we have joined the All-Inclusive Might and Magic Webring. Go to the Links page to check it out. May 10th, 1999 The Producer of MM7, Peter "Zoop" Ruy, revealed that 3DO will be showing the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in L.A. (starting the day after tomorrow). Furthermore, he denied that the game has been held back for this reason, and said that the original plan was to show a trailer for MM8. You can find the original message here. May 9th, 1999 The Story page now contains the stories from the 3DO website. What better way to spend this time of waiting for MM7 than to get familiar with the intricacies of the plot? ; ) Also, the Classes page is finally online. May 8th, 1999 Weapons page is updated with pics and info from the 3DO website. The shields will be featured on the Items page later. May 5th, 1999 Portraits page is online with the pics from the 3DO website. Many have already expressed their disappointment with these...what do you think? You're invited to express your opinion on this matter in the Tavern. May 3rd, 1999 Yeah! After a couple of quiet days, we're back with some serious news: We got a new look! Try out the new menu! We've added pics to the Spells section. TEF's new MM7 place has been added to the links section, and he has finally gotten that spot on the Thanks page that he so rightfully deserves ; ) Enjoy the new pages, and please get back to the humble webmaster if you spot any errors.
