Know Jesus

Well first off I'm here to let you know that I am not ashamed to tell you about God. I love Him so much, and if you would like to know how to get to know Him, read on.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to Salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." - [Romans 1:16,17]

You are reading on? Good.

Want to know how to have a relationship with Jesus?...
You must realize:

  1. We are all sinners.

"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" [Romans 3:23]

What that verse means is that God's standard is perfection, and we as humans can never live up to that standard. It can be described as an archer aiming for the target, he shoots, and each time his arrow falls short. It says all have sinned.. you, and ME.

  2. Sin's punishment is death.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." [Romans 6:23]

When you go to work you "earn" your paycheck. The money you earn is your wages. Well because we have sinned we have earned death, not only physical, but spiritual death and eternal separation from God.

Sin is all the bad things we do. Like lying and stealing, and cheating...
Have you ever had a really dirty shirt, it was just stained with mud, and no matter what you did you could not get it to come out? Well when we sin that's how God sees our heart. Like the shirt the only thing to do is bleach it... and just as bleach cleans the shirt, the blood of Jesus cleans our heart.

God doesn't JUST "bleach" us. No, He makes us into a new creation! He changes our WHOLE life around, and it starts from the INSIDE-OUT.

Because of the "gift" (mentioned above) we can have eternal life in Christ, and we can have the "bleach" - so-to-speak - in our spiritual life. How? Well.. let me tell you.

  3. Only Jesus can save us from sin's consequences.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." [Romans 5:8]

"that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures." [I Corinthians 15:3,4]

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." [Ephesians 2:8]

Now maybe you thought that you had to be a good person, and go to church to be saved... well I'm telling you different. God didn't die for the saint, He died for the sinner. And because everyone has sinned (including you), He died for all. He died for you. You earned death, yet He chose to take your place for death... He died for you, that you might live. He gave you the gift of life. He died for you to show His love. There was no way that we could have given a sacrifice to atone for our sins, so Christ came and did it for us.. and now, we don't have to. We just have to accept what He did for us.

You must believe: - I Corinthians 15:3-8
  1. Jesus is God's Son - John 10:30
  2. Jesus was both God and man - Luke 2:1-7,21(Man), John 8:58(God)
  3. Jesus died - Matthew 27:26-50
  4. Jesus was burried - Matthew 27:57-66
  5. Jesus rose from the dead - Luke 24:1-8
  6. Jesus was seen by many people - Luke 24:34
  7. Jesus is in heaven - Mark 16:19
Know that:
  1. You have to call on God.

"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." [Romans 10:9,10]

"For 'whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved'." [Romans 10:13]

There are no conditions. You ask God to come and rule over your life, He will. You ask Him to come in and change you and make you whole... He will.

"The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God an co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory." [Romans 8:16,17]

The Christian life will not be easy... "if indeed we share in His sufferings.." no where are we promised and easy life, just that God will never leave us. Now that you are a child of God, the Holy Spirit now dwells within you...

"Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" [I Corinthians 3:16]

  2. Once God has saved you, there's nothing that can take you from Him.

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:38-39

"And I(Jesus) will give them(those that call on Him) eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father(God), who has given them to Me, is greater than all' and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one." -John 10:28-30

  3. Sin can be forgiven.

If you sin again, which every Christian does, you need to confess those sins...

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." [I John 1: 9]

  4. You need to Grow.

If you have decided to make the decision to let Christ cleans you and free you of sin, then because of that, you should begin to study the Bible, and pray daily. Maybe you think "well I can't pray," well all you have to do is just talk to God as a person. Just tell Him what's on your mind and speak openly and honestly. Ask Him to teach you to pray. Share God with everyone.

"Be diligent to present yourself approved unto God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth."

    GROWTH
G---Go to God daily in prayer (Philippians 4:6-7).
R---Read the Bible every day (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
O---Obey God moment by moment (Luke 6:46-48).
    W---Worship in a local church (Hebrews 10:24-25)
T---Tell others about Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:15-16).
H---Holy Spirit--let Him direct your life (John 14:26).

We need to study God’s Word that we may be able to resist temptation, and lead others to know the wonder of God’s love.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles(scemes or tricks) of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but agains principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefor take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand." -Ephesians 6:10-13
