| INTERNET ADDICTION SYNDROME | ||
It was bound to happen. There is now an official name for who have become addicted to the Internet: they are suffering from 'Internet Addiction Syndrome.' The syndrome was first identified in the US four years ago and is now being recognized in the Eastern Europe. The tell-tale symptoms include loss of control about the lenght of time spent on the Net, lying to spouses about the time spent online, needing increasing amounts of time to get satisfaction, dreaming about what was happening on the Internet & failing to cut down on the amount of time spent connected. |

The syndrome is also receiving publicity in Ireland. The Internet is 'in' at the moment. Scarcely a day goes by without the news that company X can now be found & person Y has passed away at such and such a website. Government departments and local authorities are getting in on the act as well. There is, it seems, a potentially huge market out there in the hyperspace. |
