Some technical stuffs:
Among others, the site How To Become A Hacker will give you basic ideas in hacking.
Among the operating systems, I prefer Linux ( Preferably, Red Hat Linux , it's free!! ) and Solaris (very powerful, but it's GUI is not so good). Do you feel, Linux is not user friendly? Then I will say that you are wrong. Try GNOME ( GNU Network Object Model Environment, it's also free.) or KDE (K Desktop Environment) . These are very similar to Windows 95 or Windows 98 Graphical User Interface (GUI). Also you may say you don't like those boring vi editor. Who cares? Try vim or gvim. Even you can try emacs or xemacs, which are similar to DOS editor. In unix, you will enjoy the flexibility of shell programming. I know, you have a wish to learn shell programming. I will suggest you to learn Bash (Bourne-Again Shell). Try these and become a fundoo shell programmer - Bash Reference Manual - Table of Contents or, developerWorks : :Linux : Library - Papers or, Advanced Bash-Scripting HOWTO or, Sitereview.org: Unix Bourne Shell Programming .
