V-8 S10

A little about myself.

Thanks for visiting, my name's Andy and my soon to be wife's name is Jackie, who I've been dating for 9 yrs come August '98. We will be married July 25th 1998, which couldnt'v been any sooner for her! Jackie has been with me through the good and bad, and is still with me, now that takes a very special woman!!! Jackie works at the ass.states attornys office were she's been for the last 7 yrs, with little or no complaints, now me on the other hand, I complain a little more 'bout my job, I work at a pork producing facility, I drive a hyster ( fork truck ), which is better than using a knife on the line. I get up at 4:00 am and comute 30 miles one way to work. I am from a small city called Macomb Il, and Jackie is from a real small town called Colmar Il. When I get home from work I like to go work in my garage, where I tinker, play around, and some time get serious about building motors and cars 'n' trucks. I've been building a little S-10 to drag race, I built a 406 c.i.d. small block Chevy and put it between the frame rails of that little truck. Now I'm in the proccess of rebuilding that 406 to a 377 c.i.d. SB Chevy. In the 406, I put flat top slugs, stock rods (5.56), stock crank (3.75 stroke), the stock heads for that motor in '70, using 1.94 intake, 1.5 exaust valves, LT1 valve springs, some mild port and polishing, and milled to the max! The cam is a Summit cam with 224-234 dur@50, 282-292 advertised dur, 465-488 lift, and a 114 center line. This cam idles quit smoothly. For the induction I used a Holley 1850 600 carb, a single plane Weind X-ellorator intake, stock HEI with recurve kit, Accel cap and rotor and 8.8 wires. The exaust is Hedmann shorty headers running into 2 1/2 aluminized pipe, with Dynomax mufflers, after the mufflers is 3" tail pipe. I took the spare tire out and ran the tail pipe as close as possible to the under side of the bed, exiting so you can only see just a few inches of pipe from the side view of the truck. From behind all you can see of the pipes are two 3" about leafspring width apart under the bumper. For the 377 I am building, I am using the same block, but adding a 3.48 stroke crank (350), 5.57 rod (350 rod) with ARP bolts, new pistons to bring the compression up from 9:5:1 to 12:5:1, and the cam will be at least 270 dur@50 and the lift should be around 550, solid lifter. I plan on using the same heads unless I can find some reasonably priced, better fowing heads. The induction is a Wiend Team G, Holley 3310 modifed, milled choke horn, added metering plate, and some more little details. With this setup I plan on moving the power band as high as possible in the upper RPM range. The 406 had a little too much low end torque, she would spin off the line WAY too easy and carry on past the 1/8 mark going into 3rd gear. U P D A T E : Aug. 2001 Sorry if you couldn't e-mail me, I have not updated this page for a couple of years, and my e-mail has changed since then, but it is correct now. Got some bad news. The reason I haven't updated this page for a few years, shortly after I made this page Jackie and I were married, and the wedding and reception were a blast. Then on Nov. 29 1998 my wife passed away. This left me uninterested in most things I found a joy. It's 2001 and I am back with a different atitude. I met someone very special and moved to Wisconsin to be with her. My truck is still not done yet, but I have been slowly finding all the parts and go-fast goodies I will need. I now have a set of aluminum heads, a new 780cfm Holley, a 3000 B&M stall converter, cam, crank, rods, 1-3/4" headers, and a new set of them Nascar Goodyear Eagles. I found the set of Goodyear Eagles on the internet, and I could not pass them up. From the description, these tires are from the Jeff Burtons team, they had a few sets left over from the earlier seasons and no longer need 'em. I also have new daily driver, it's a '94 extended cab S10, 4.3, auto, velocity stacked TBI, cowl induction hood, ignition upgrades, 3" catback with a flowmaster muffler, 3" tailpipes, and 3/4 drop. I pull my 16ft flatbed loaded with that orange beast you see below. But, when I get done with the orange S10 I WILL drive it do the drag srtip. We live about 10 miles from Great Lakes Dragway. Please e-mail me if you have any questions about doing a V8 swap in the S10s. You can also catch me on ICQ. My ICQ # 6204705
