DELAWARE

Bing (Benjamin) Veach (?131-2, WeV1, P27) B:1758, New Castle Co., Del. Listed on company roll, 9/8/1779, Col. David Hall's Regt., Cpt. Elijah Skillington's company. A "Benj. Beach" is listed in Cpt. Peter Jaquett's 8th Company, same regt., 8-11/1779, and "Bing Beech" is listed on same roll 1-2/1780.

Jeremiah Veach(?132-2, WeV1, P27) B:1756, Sussex Co., Del. He volunteered 8/6/1780 in the Cedar Creek Company, a Torie organization formed to prevent the collection of the supply tax by the State. He was charged with treason the same year for "having traitorously levied war against the State...", but the charges were dropped.

Solomon Veach(163-2, WeV1, P47) B:1748, Sussex Co., Del. He was charged with treason in 1780 in connection with the Torie Insurrection. Listed as Solomon"Beach" in the records.

Thomas Veach, Jr.(?162-1, WeV1, P29) B:1755, Sussex Co., Del. D: 1819. Drafted, 3/27/1778, in Col. David Hall's Regt., Cpt. Robert Kirkwood's 2nd Company. He deserted 4/9/1778.

William Veach(?132, WeV1, P27) B:1715, Sussex Co., Del., D: 1785-90. He was charged with treason in 1780 in connection with the Torie Insurrection. Fined 2000 pounds.

KENTUCKY

Daniel Veatch, Jr.(532-5, WeV1, P266) B:1755, Frederick Co., MD., D: 1806, Lincoln Co., KY. Enlisted 4/20/1782 in the Lincoln County Militia, Cpt. William McBride's Company, George R. Clark's BN. Disch., 5/20/1782. He also served in Virginia (See VA. soldiers).

Hezekiah Veatch(531-1, WeV1, P207) B:1741, D: 1811, Montgomery Co., MD. Listed on company roll 8/30/1777, Col. Zadock McGruder's Regt., Cpt. Richard Smith's company. Promoted 9/22/1777, ensign; 4/21/1779, 2nd lt., 2nd company, Cpt. Thomas Hays; 3/25/1780, 1st lt., 2nd company, Cpt. John Summers.

John Veitch(???) 1st Lt., 80th Foot Regt., N.C. Loyalists (pro-British unit). He is listed as a prisoner-of-war at Lancaster, PA., 3/20/1783.

PENNSYLVANIA

Benjamin Veach(537-1, WeV1, P710-11) B: 1765, Bedford Co., PA., D: 1848, Marion Co., (W)VA. According to the inscription on his tombstone, he served during the war, although records of such service are unknown. He served in the militias (See militias/military organizations.

Elijah Veatch(???, WeV1, P275) Listed on the rolls of the Calico Shirt Company in 1777, Cpt. John Hook. Likely a militia company from Washington Co., PA.

Jeremiah Veatch(532-7 WeV1, P274) B: 1759, Frederick Co., MD., D: 1836, Fayette Co., KY. Enlisted, 1778, PA. Mlitia, Cpt. John Jarrett's company; 1779, Cpt. George Katt's company; 4/1780-11/1780, 5th PA. Regt., Cpt. James Archie's company; 4/1781-11/1781, 1st PA. Regt., same company; 1782, Cpt. John Ankrim's company. SOUTH CAROLINA

Eliza Veach(???) "She" is actually presumed to be "Elijah Veatch", who served in the same regt., but since the name above appears in several records, including the DAR Record of Women Troops in the Rev. War, she has been included. Enl., 1781, Col. John Thomas' Light Dragoons, Cpt. Phileman Waters' Company. Disch., late 1781.

Elias Veatch(534-4, WeV1, P423-25) B:5/25/1759, Montgomery Co., MD., D: 9/13/1839, Washington Co., IL. Enlisted, 41777, Cpt. Long's Company, disch., 7/1777. Listed from 4/1778-7/1778 and 4/1779-5/1780 in Lt. Elkins' Company; 8/1780, Cpt. Richard Tucker's Company; 7/1781, Cpt. William Whittaker's Company. He was wounded 8/16/1780 at the battle of Camden, S.C., and captured. He later escaped in 5/1781. Disch.,8/1781.

Elijah Veatch(532-4, WeV1, P264-66) B: 1751, Frederick Co., MD., D: prior to 4/1843, Monroe Co., KY. Enlisted, 1781, Col. John Thomas' Light Dragoons, Cpt. Phileman Waters' Company. Disch., late 1781.

Isaac Veatch(534-3, WeV1, P329) B: 1756, D: 1780. Enl., 1779, 2nd S.C. Regt., Cpt. Uriah Goodwin's Company. He was captured either at Charleston, S.C., 5/1780, or 8/16/1780 at Camden, S.C. He died in 1780 a prisoner-of-war.

James Veatch, Jr. (534, WeV1, P328) B: 1725, Prince George Co., MD., D: 1780, S.C. Enl., ca1779, Col. Thomas Taylor's Regt., Cpt. Richard Tucker's Company. Wounded at the battle of Camden, S.C., 8/16/1780. He later died of his wounds.

James Veatch III(534-5, WeV1, P599) B: 1762, MD. Enl., 1780, Col. Thomas Taylor's Regt., Cpt. Richard Tucker's Company. In 1781, he was in Cpt. John mcKinney's Company. Disch., 1782.
