EMERGENCY FUND
Terms and Conditions

The purpose of this Fund is to provide monies to list members who have a temporary cash-flow problem and are in need of some money to help their FeLV+ cat - a visit to a vet that otherwise might be put off or necessary medications, etc.

The Fund will be overseen by Jamie Laws who has a bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting. You can see her picture at:

http://www.geocities.com/dickens50/picpage.html.
She has worked in public accounting for three years and is currently an auditor with Elliott, Davis & Co., the largest regional firm in South Carolina.

Jamie Laws has agreed to hold the monies of the Fund in an interest-bearing account, and will provide the Committee with an annual accounting of receipts and disbursements.

Jamie Laws and the founders of the list, Jim Wilson, Barb Stock and Kathy Giddings, make up the Committee which shall consider all requests for funds. Decisions will be made by the vote of at least three members of the Committee. The decisions of the Committee shall be final.

Donations will be on an individual basis with people sending what they can to fund this project. When the Fund gets low, Jamie will post to the list that additional donations are needed and she will periodically update the list on the status of the Fund.

Anyone needing assistance may either post to the list or post privately to Jamie at: AndyandMouse@aol.com

For a request to be considered, the person requesting funds must have joined the list at least 2 months prior to the request.

Requests will be given more favorable consideration if the requester has previously sought the advice of the list on the efficacy of the intended therapy, other possibly useful or less-expensive therapies, etc. and has contributed to the Fund previously.

By submitting a request for funds, the requester states that he or she does agree to abide by these Guidelines.

The amount of money that will be appropriated to any requester shall be the sole decision of the Committee, who will consider (among other factors) the cost of the procedure and the monies presently available in the Fund and the usual efficacy of the intended therapy. Checks will be made payable to the vet, other health care provider or pharmacy, health food store, etc., and a member of the committee will make a phone call to the vet (or whoever), to confirm the cost, etc. before sending the check.

Requests for monies for "alternative" treatments will be decided upon by the Committee, which will have the sole discretion in this matter.

Monies received from the Fund shall be repaid at the borrower's earliest convenience so that other cats may be helped. Repayments shall be made as much as you can as soon as you can, all at once right away or at least $20 per month or 1/10 of the amount borrowed, whichever is larger. Repayments shall be completed within one year of the date the monies were released to the individual.

Individuals may not use the fund more than once every six months.

This fund is intended primarily for the benefit of FeLV cats owned by individual members of the FeLVList, but may at the discretion of the Committee be used on behalf of FIP+ cats too!
