I have lived all my life near Pecatonica, Illinois. I live 5 miles east of "Pec" in a one story ranch house set on five acres. We have a large vegetable garden and plant sweet corn, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, beans... you name it, we've probably planted it. Pecatonica is a very small community of about 2,000 people located between Rockford and Freeport, Illinois. It is only twenty minutes from the Wisconsin border. Pec's claim to fame is the Winnebago County Fairgrounds. Every year Pec hosts the fair and other special events like "Lollapalooza" and a Metallica concert. Pecatonica boasts many businesses. There is Topway (the grocery store), two banks, two gas stations, a Truevalue, two art gallaries, three antique shops, three bars, six restaurants (sorry, no McDonalds) and many more buisnesses.
