- Hardin Co IL Marriage Register 1 ~ May 1884-Dec 1891 ~ Volume I
- With annotations [plus earlier marriage dates gleaned from other
sources] ~ In 1839 Hardin was formed from Pope and Gallatin Counties.
Because of the two courthouse fires, these are the earliest marriages. Inf.
obtained from Marriage Register 1 on microfilm and at the Courthouse.

- Johnson Co IL Early Marriages 1878-1885 ~ Volume II
- Starting in 1878, the state required those obtaining a marriage
license to furnish the following information: names and ages of bride and
groom, residence, place of birth, names of parents, race or color, number of
times married, occupation of groom, location and date of marriage, witnesses
and by whom the marriage was performed. This information was taken from the
Marriage Register Book 1 on microfilm and the Original Marriage Books
in the Court House.

- Pope Co IL, County Court Record Book A 1816-1831
- The beginning of the county, founding fathers and the offices
they held, laying out of townships and those that served as judges and clerks
of elections, viewing, marking and building of roads and people in each
neighborhood that worked on them, law suits, ferry and tavern fees, petitions,
names Juries, etc. The county covered all of present day Pope, part of Hardin,
Johnson & Massac. The Who's Who of early Pope County. Also known as
the County Commissioner's Record Book.

- Pope Co IL Chancery Index [Approximately 1850-1960]
- The chancery records are for the court of equity in the judicial system;
divorces, foreclosures, civil suits, small claims, etc. This is an index to
those court cases. It lists the plaintiff, the defendant, what box and section
the document is in, no other information is given. We added a full every name
index with a * denoting the defendant.

- Pope Co IL Marriage Books A-E 1813-1877 ~ Volume I
- These marriage records [the first five marriage books, plus ten pages
of marriages listed in the front of Marriage Book A] were compiled from microfilm and by checking
the Original Marriage Papers ~ marriage licenses, affidavits, minister's
returns, consents, applications, unrecorded licenses, every scrap of paper we
could locate on these records is included. Pope County was formed from Gallatin & Johnson
Counties, it included all of Hardin and most of Massac. Couples ferried across the Ohio
River from Livingston County to get married here.
