Livingston, Illinois was established as a coal mining community
in 1905.
Livingston is in Olive Township and is served by the Olive Fire
Protection
District, an all-volunteer organization. Olive 1 is the
Livingston Firehouse,
which also serves as the local polling place for all elections.
Olive 2 is located in the neighboring town of Williamson.
Emergency
services are provided by the Staunton Area Ambulance Service.
Livingston is part of the Staunton Community Unit School
District 6,
which is located 4 miles northwest of the village. We also belong to the
Lewis & Clark Community College District.
Conveniently located at Exit 37 on Interstate 55, we are close
enough to St. Louis,
Missouri, to enjoy the benefits of a large city but far enough away
to enjoy the quiet small-town life of our village.
We are also located only 1 hour south of our state capital, Springfield,
so we have the best of all worlds.
