this page is being made to honor the seven destroyers and the men who sailed aboard them from ww2 to viet nam to us they were our home and we loved them,then at other times we hated them but we also were proud of the fact we were destroyermen.
all seven destroyers were rebuilt fletcher class dd's rebuilt for anti-submarine warfare and was brought back into service as dde's (escort destroyers)
and up into the early sixty's belonged to task group alpha which at that time was the first line of defense against submarines off the coast of washington dc
at a place called point pete.
i have recieved some mail asking why there ship wasn't listed in this page,i
realize that there were many ships that have belong to desron 28 at one time or another but for now this page im building is for the ships that made up the squadron when i was aboard the beale,however i do appriciate hearing about the other ships that was in the squadron.
destroyer squadron 28 was made up of uss waller dd-dde 466,uss conway dd-dde 507 and uss cony dd-dde 508.
uss bache dd-dde 470,uss beale dd-dde 471,uss eaton dd-dde 510 and uss murray dd-dde 576
