BLAIR: I swear to you I wasn’t having an affair!
TODD: Was he just giving you a back rub for old times sake, huh! (he then shoves her hard and she falls down in the hallway by the door. She sobs reaching up her hand for him to help her) (he slowly puts his hand out for her to help herself to get up, small guilt on his face)
BLAIR: I know, I know you love me. I don’t care what just happened or what you say to me, you love me, Todd, I can see it in your eyes, you love me! (she is desperately clinging to him)
TODD: Goodbye Blair.
BLAIR: Noooo! No it’s not.....I’m not asking for me, I’m asking for us, Todd!
TODD: There is no us and I just found out there never was. (walks away from her)
BLAIR: No, Todd no! (she shuts the door and runs after him, he stands with his back to her) No, you know better than that! We found each other one night on a park bench, Todd. Two lost souls, two total losers with no place to go, we connected, Todd. We shared things with each other we never shared with anyone else. We had something special Todd, we had a lot of fun too, don’t...don’t you remember? The most pathetic contest. How we used to laugh and how the joke was always on us, until one day it wasn’t!
TODD: (turns to her) Oh yeah, one day, it was the day that you found out I was Victor Lord’s bastard son and you neglected to tell me that! When you found out I was gonna be a zillionaire and you wanted a little piece of the pie.
BLAIR: Todd! (backpedaling) It started off wrong but it....it got right, Todd, it....it did, and I should have told you, but I swear to God I was scared to death. (he lets out a big sigh) Haven’t you ever been there?
TODD: (speaks softly as if sincere) You know, you’re right. We did have something special Blair.
BLAIR: Yes, we did.
TODD: At least I thought so. Except that you lied to me from the very beginning. You lied to me and you tricked me into marrying you.
BLAIR: And I admitted that! But Todd, that doesn’t change what happened after that! I mean face it, you admit it that after we got back from Key West (he turns away) we were different. We found out we didn’t just like each other, we needed each other. (she puts her head on his shoulder from behind) And then when we came into the money, you know what happened? Two pathetic losers made it to the top of the heap! We did it together, Todd! Do you know why that was? (he turns back to her) It wasn’t...it wasn’t a trick or a lie. It was love.
TODD: (Coldly) Whore’s don’t know the meaning of the word.
BLAIR: That’s your word. You said that you loved me and you came here to forgive me, that’s what you said. And you were doing that because you wanted to. Do what’s best for you now, Todd. Forgive me. Oh please, please (she claps her hands, pleading) forgive me.
Scene break
TODD: (camera is on his hand clenching and unclenching and then pans up to him) So did it work with Max huh, did it work with Asa? You know that little stop you put in your voice, the...the tremble you do right when you beg for forgiveness.
BLAIR: Forget about Asa, and forget about Max. Because there’s no one in this room right now except you and me. Todd, I know that I hurt you deeply and I know....
TODD: (cutting her off) Like you must have hurt Asa the day when he found out you and Max were doing the bouncy bounce when you were supposed to be marrying the old geezer! You did it right on your wedding dress!! That was a real classy touch.....
BLAIR: That was a lifetime ago, Todd! I’m a different person now!
TODD: (stepping on the stairs and turns to her) The same person who played on Max’s gambling addiction to get in the sack with you! The same person that ran over his wife with a pickup truck!
BLAIR: (screaming) I’ve changed, alright! I’ve changed!!
TODD: (screaming back) Well nobody changes that much! (he sits on the stairs) You can...you can shed one skin and grow another, but any snake, but deep down Blair, you are still the same person who lied to Asa, the same person who lied to Max and I....I am the still same chump who believed you!
BLAIR: (she kneels down to him) Oh Todd, I’m sorry it was different with you. It started off that way but...(she puts her hand on his and he jerks it away)
TODD: We started off with the biggest lie of all, didn’t we? You see it started when the day you found out I was gonna get $27 million dollars and you just invented a baby. (his voice cracks) A son. The one thing that you knew would get to me. Well, you got it, didn’t you Blair? When it comes to the most pathetic (he pulls himself up with both hands as if in a boxing ring) I am the all time, undefeated heavyweight champion.
BLAIR: (throws herself clinging to him) No, no you are not pathetic, Todd. You are not pathetic and neither am I. (he throws his arms in the air not to touch her as she clings) Todd, we gave each other hope, opportunity and love. We gave each other love, Todd.
TODD: Ohhh, don’t flatter yourself, you whore!! All you gave me was SEX (he thrusts her off him) You used that body of yours to trap me and.....(she whispers, No) You had me. You climbed out of my bed and you slithered right into Cord’s.
BLAIR: No!! I swear to you, I didn’t....I wasn’t having an affair.
TODD: Yeah, right.
BLAIR: No I never did.
TODD: I bet that spiced up the action a bit, huh? You two laughing your heads off at me while you were wrinkling the sheets.
BLAIR: You have got to believe that it was over between Cord and I a long time ago!! It’s the truth, Todd! I could have gone to Cord when I lost the baby, when I had the miscarriage but I didn’t did I? I didn’t! That’s gotta tell you something, it’s gotta tell you something!
TODD: (grabbing a hold of her by the arms roughly) I am dumber than I thought. That never was my kid, huh? It was Cord’s, wasn’t it? (she is shocked and pulls away from him in disbelief)
Scene break
TODD: (grabbing her by the wrists) Oh you’re good, yeah. Yeah, I....I believe you, if you hadn’t lied to me from the very beginning.....
BLAIR: I wasn’t lying about the baby! I wasn’t lying!!
TODD: You can’t even tell, can you? Lying to you is just like breathing. (he throws her down in the chair)
BLAIR: (whispering, breathless) You saw me...you saw me when I lost the baby, in the hospital, how hurt I was. You saw our baby.
TODD: Yeah you were upset, yeah, you were upset alright. You made me believe that....that you were actually upset about something, that those tears were for us both but they weren’t for us, huh? They weren’t for our son. They were for you and they were for Cord.
BLAIR: (leaping out of the chair) No!! I know for a fact that baby was yours!!
TODD: You shut up!!
BLAIR: No! You talk about lies but you don’t want to hear the truth!!
TODD: (in her face) I know the truth!!
BLAIR: You know what you want to know!!
TODD: I know that baby was Cord’s and I’m glad that it was dead! And I hope to God you never have another one!! (she backs away from him in horror, not believing his cruelty, he immediately regrets his words and moves toward her) Oh, Blair I’m...
BLAIR: (leaning on banister, collapsing with grief, sobbing) You....you stay away from me. Don’t you touch me!! You are like everything everybody said you were. Oh my God, you’re not a man. You’re not even human.
TODD: (complete ice) Then we were made for each other! (she runs stumbling up the stairs) (his eyes have gone totally dead, something inside of him has clicked, he is that monster again. He very slowly starts climbing the stairs and the camera focuses on his hand sliding up the bannister, the camera then fades to black)
