Chapter #3
All is Lost!
The Knight sits cross legged in the center of the table, his heart pounding in his chest. When the most unexpected of voices speaks up. The Fairy Princess, with her wings fluttering and her long dark hair blowing gently in the breeze, whispers, "Pick me again, Dear Knight. I will forsake all to be with you. And, I will, every day, try to make you so very happy!" In a voice as sweet as the nectar of the gods themselves. That thought brings tears to the eyes of the once-great Knight, for he once was her Knight, in a very real, yet hard to explain way, only to find out that he was not the only Knight she had at her disposal. And after she would call on him to do her bidding, she would also call on one of the others for the same thing to be done. Could he trust the Fairy Princess? She explained that after he left her things came into view and everything would now be so different. He would like to think he was loved and needed, but how could he ask her to come to him and leave everything else behind? It would be totally selfish of him to do that and what kind of man would he be then? Jack, an honorable man of strength and character, stands up from his sitting spot and says, "Forget about the Mistress, let the demon destroy her, for she has betrayed you for what reason? None, as we see it, for you are an honorable man and a goodhearted and kind man who did nothing but love and cherish her. Yet, she will let you be destroyed for her own personal gain. And what has she gained? A demon of no worth who inevitably will drag her down into the abyss of alcohol and drugs... A leech, if you will, who will suck out the lifes blood of whomever he can attach himself to. Whose only goal in life is to get drunk and get laid by whoever is closest." The Knight stands and shouts, "But how can I stand by and let my mistress be destroyed by such an evil creature when I know how grand a life I could give her? When I can still feel her touch on my lips and feel the suck mark on my neck and her scent on my pillow?" Then he realizes its not his choice to make. The Goddess and God who rule his existence are punishing him for some unknown reason, testing his faith. But why? He does not know. Tears once again flow down his face as he whispers, "Merry Part to you all!" and blesses each of you with the Goddess' love and light, health and happiness. Another wave of his hand and you all return to your comfortable living places and loved ones. Where everything is right in your world. But, for the Knight...... All is lost.
He sits alone now, slumped in the center of the table, legs crossed, hands draped over his knees, head hanging desolately, totally debilitated and withdrawn. Buffeted beyond all belief, our Knight cries a mournful cry. So sad is the cry, the trees mourn for him, the birds no longer sing their sweet melodies, the sun hides its face in shame for him and the stars no longer twinkle in the night sky, the Moon is saddened by his cry of pain and agony. Even the beautiful flowers in this once enchanted forest cannot bring themselves to bloom.
Confusion and sorrow aid his pain to go deeply into his soul and piece by piece destroy his lovers heart of hearts. He wishes for his time on this earth to end, so his pain might end as well. So no one can hurt him any more. Yet, somewhere he believes that his goddess will give him a sign to lead him in the direction she wishes for him to go. Its raining now .. even the sky is saddened by the feelings the knight has from the loss of his lady and his not being able to ask of the fairy Princess what she herself wishes him to. The warm rain falls gently on his back and head, but our knight does not move, nor does he feel as though he could.....
When will his sign come?
In the distance, just out of his view, there is a small but very bright light shining, for him ... The Fairy Princess is waiting, in a bubble made of the finest crystal, to hear his call.......
