My citation well, the sled was purchased 3 years ago for my birthday. we bought it off a dealer for 100 bucks. it was in pretty nice shape. the seat was really ripped, and the chaincase was taken apart, but beside that, it was in excellent. i took it home, opened the tool box, and sure enough, there was the owners manual. no pages ripped, and the cover was in perfect shape. The first thing we did was take the seat, gas tank and engine out. we took the rest of the sled in to my dads garage and power washed the chassis and engine. under the 1/4 inch of dust, there was a nice sled. we then went through all the wiring and fixed all the kniks out of the wire, and fixed the ends. we then put the engine back in, and the gas tank on. we then went to the suspension. the track was in beautiful shape, and so was the rest of the suspension. not one broken part in the whole thing. We dropped the suspension, cleaned every part, and put it back together. everything was ready to go at that time except the seat. i didn't really care what it looked like, so i just put it on, pulled it over, and sure enough it started right up. we never had a problem with the engine ever. after 2 seasons with the 277 single cylinder in it, i wanted something more. sure it went 65mph, and had enough power, but guys never have enough speed. i was 14 and i thought i needed more. we had other citations at the time. they didn't run though. my brother blew his up on the lake going 75mph. i cold seized mine, but the thing had engine trouble anyways. me and my dad decided to take another chance on the scraps, and build a complete engine from parts. we had two blown engines, to make on beast of an engine. we sent out the cylinders to get them bored, put an add on the internet for an ss setup for a citation, and did alot of cleaning in the parts washer. it took us about 5 months to build the engine but we did it. it was a 377 twin, with dual carbs, oil injection, and cylinders bored .010 over, it was quite an upgrade. we kept having problems with it starting. The oil injection only worked on one side too. after about a week of riding it. i parked it outside.it wouldn't start again. we went through about 30 plugs 2 times trying to start it. it never did. we finally gave up on that approach, and did a compression test.sure enough there was only about 65 lbs of compression. we took off the heads and we had to bad pistons. luckily we didn't hurt the cylinders. we took out the engine, and took it apart again. i can do this in about an hour and a half (i have expirience at it). we took the engine to the local dealer to get the timing set. The idiot set the timing wrong!!! that was our problem. so this time me and my dad set the timing. we put the engine back together, and put it back in. it started right up, and has worked perfect ever since. it has alot more speed, maxing out at a whopping 83mph, and has a lot of power. me and my friend ride on it, exceeding the sleds weight by 30lbs, but it still manages to haul us across the lake at 50mph. i have since replaced the seat cover, put on a comet 102-c clutch, and done a whole lot of waxing.
