Show details:

Attended With: Pat, again.

Venue: Virginia Beach Amphitheater, VA Beach, VA.

Opening Act: Junior Brown. This IS the deep voiced country singer most famous for the song "My Wife Thinks You're Dead." I wanted to see it, but we got there too late to even see if he was cool.

Highlights: The highlights start with seeing John Cottee in the parking lot before the show started, blazed out of his mind and walking the other way from the entrance. Hearing The Stone that was eventually used on the Warehouse 5 Volume 2 was cool, as was hearing a solid So Right. Big Eyed Fish going into Bartender was fantastic, as was my first Say Goodbye. The last three songs of the regular set is where it took off, though. The Two Step was very, very good, and we thought that was going to close. Nope, Crush, which at the time was my favorite song. That was followed by a What Would You Say, in which Dave's dancing sort of resembled a scissor kick in soccer. The encore came next, and Dave broke out a solo Blue Water, which Pat called. A country cover, and the ever-present Watchtower closed. A last highlight would be the presence of only one of the "lovely ladies" this night. They pretty much ruined the '01 DMB tour, but only one was sort of an interesting look at things.

Lowlights: First, Pat being scared enough of his psychotic Vietnam veteran boss that he made us miss the first half of the openening song is a start. I had to pick him up at work, and roll from there. Then, thinking we were finally getting our first Warehouse, and running like hell to find out it was 41 was a bit of a drag. The Space Between, and Fool to Think in a row, along with the 2001 version of What You Are wasn't too hot either. While hearing Say Goodbye was cool, Roi didn't play any flute on it at all. The abysmal energy-killing turd that is If I Had It All.
