Show details:
Attended With: Rob and Pat. Rob by this point was hooked into the AGR experience, and Pat had grown tired of hearing us blab about them, and decided to come check out the first set.
Venue: The Jewish Mother, Virginia Beach, VA.
Opening Act: None, still.
Highlights: Well, there was this obscenely drunk Frenchman, wearing a beret and a gray t-shirt with the French flag on it, who spent the first set and some of the second trying to break dance to AGR's music. That gave us something to laugh at. Musically, I was blown away by the Radio King jam, Kevin Hamilton's bass solo on Get Me There, my first Innocent Days, JC's work on Shotdown, and then the encore. The band came out to do Walk on the Wild Side, but Andrew broke a string, so they ended up just sort of jamming, with Andrew on bass, Kevin on guitar, and Brian and his old friend Mike Williams on drums. JC, by this point, had passed out from too much beer and too many jello shots, and was nowhere to be found. Seriously.
Lowlights: Again, AGR without Stew wasn't as good. I don't love Step to the Street, but Kevin's huge solo made it better. Not many lowlights for this.
