Break shit!
Home | Back to '99

Show details:

Attended With: Pat and Fox. In an effort to look "hard and tough," since this was that sort of show, Pat and Foxy sported wifebeaters, and I wore a football jersey, all with baggy jeans and boots. We were hardcore.

Venue: Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA.

Opening Act: There wasn't really one, other then "home videos" of the bands doing stuff like pretending to have sex with each other with pool cues, and stuff like that. I don't know why I remember that of all things, after almost 4 years.

Highlights: There's a really thin line between the highlights and lowlights of this show, since most of the lowlights became cool stories. Anyway, highlights include my first experiences with crowd surfing, getting to beat the hell out of all sorts of people regardless of age, race, gender, size or meanness, and finally, getting to see Run DMC before the end. Also, I guess my girlfriend at the time, Beth, telling me "not to die" the night before might be a highlight.

Lowlights: First off, as stated in the 1999 page, we went to this show to see DMX, and that fucker, as he is wont to do, cancelled. That was a bastard, we cried, until we saw Run DMC on the bill. Also, Limp Bizkit sucked. They'd play thumping bass lines, and Fred Durst would yell "fuck ___" at the top of his lungs. Also, during one of the crowd surfing escapades, I got thrown onto some young girls, who dropped me onto my hip onto the hard concrete. Pat was given a black eye by a boot, and I got brained in the back of the head by a beer bottle. I went home with a contact high, to talk to my mom, and had to go to basketball practice the next day to run with a bruised hip. I'm not sure if any of those things are lowlights, because they just make the stories funnier, but they had to go somewhere.
