Racing Career Highlights

-1984 Raced Go-Karts through Auckland Kart Club at Avondale Rosebank Park Domain and at Mount Wellington, New Zealand. Many placements of 1st's , 2nd's, and 3rd's.

Drove in New Zealand 6 Hour Endurance Benson & Hedges Saloon Car Classic in a Morris Marina 1800 at Pukekohe, New Zealand. Also drove a Marque I Escort at Pukekohe, taking a 2nd Place. And raced a Sidecar at Western Springs, taking a 1st place.

- 1986 Won New Zealand National championship Series for 250cc Production Motorcycle Title. Kawasaki of New Zealand and Fred Onrust (who purchased the bike) sponsored me at the time.

Raced Yamaha FZR-1000 Production Class for which I was sponsored. Won the Senior Production Class and Formula One Class for the Winter Racing Series.

- 1990 Worked for the Truesports Racing/Indy Car Team USA as a fabricator making LOLA Suspension Arms and the Truesports Intake Plenum Proto-type. Also raced a 3 Hour Motorcycle Endurance Race through AMA at both Mid-Ohio in Mansfield, Ohio and at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

- 1991 Built FZR-1000 Yamaha 5 Valve for a Speedway Sidecar. It contested the World Title in England, breaking track records at Cradley Heath 3 times on the first night and finally winning the World Title.

Took and passed the John Watson Driving School for single-seat Formula Fords in Silverstone, England. A few days later, I tested for Micki Dee Racing at Goodwood in a Formula Ford 1600. I was running the same lap times of 1:28 as the last race times in an 88' Swift. Copy available of Letter of Recommendation. Then drove Formula Ford 1600 for Micki Dee Racing through RAC Association at Snetterton Park, Norfolk, England. My first race I took 5th place at a National Event (front springs too soft).

Raced Open Class Grand Prix Motorcycle Races at Snetterton Raceway, Norfolk, England through BMCRC Racing Organization finishing 4th.

Raced a Honda 600 and FZR 1000 through WERA Motorcycle Racing Organization throughout the Continental United States in the Endurance Series and Open Class/Formula USA events. Placements of 3rd in the Formula USA and overall best of 7th in the Endurance Series. Began working at Howerton Racecar Works on Gasoline Alley, Speedway, Indiana. I designed and fabricated exhaust systems, radiators, bodywork, etc. for IRL, CART, Sprint Cars, Nascars, Drags, Touring Cars, etc.

Raced a SB-6 Bimota through the WERA Organization. Designed and built swingarm for the FZR 1000. Raced in the 24 Hour Endurance Race at Nelson Ledges Racetrack. I had fastest lap time of the race. Repaired and built a 1994 Ralt RT-40. Ran the Ralt at Laguna Seca, Monterey, California in the Toyota Atlantic Series, qualifying 18th and finishing 13th for the car's first run with no test time.

Put Fuel-Injection on the Ralt and drove it at the Miami Grand Prix race in March through the Toyota Atlantic Series, qualifying 21st and finishing 16th before selling the car. I continued racing in the WERA Motorcycle Racing Series on a Kawasaki 600. Rode GSXR-1100 for Can-Am Racing, in the rain, placing 5th in the 6 Hour Endurance at the Grand National Finals at Road Atlanta.

Rode the Kawasaki 600 through WERA Motorcycle Racing Series with five 1st's, two 2nd's three 3rd's. Built and tested a ZX-7R Supersport motorcycle for contention in the WERA Series.

- 1998 Started the Fabshop, Inc. in February 1997, designing and fabricating the complete water system for IRL Indycar teams. Rode the Kawasaki ZX-7R through the WERA Motorcycle Racing Series. Won both the A Superstock Title (1100 series on the 750) and the B Superstock Title (750 series), with five 1st's, three 2nd's, and one 3rd. It was a very good year!

Built a minisprint for contention in 1999 only to have the series cancelled. Traded the minisprint for a 250cc super kart engine and built a kart for contention in the 2000 season. Also built the Algie5 (hybrid frame with 1200cc engine) for contention in the WERA Heavyweight Superbike Endurance Series and Formula 1 National Championship.

Raced the 250 Shifter kart at the 1st Annual Richmond Gran Prix, July 20-23, for the first time. It was a temporary track laid out on two of the Richmond Airports' runways. I won both races on Saturday and Sunday, setting the first offical track record for the Richmond Gran Prix. Also ran the local regional races at Grattan, Putnam, IRP,and Camden. The Algie5 Superbike ran for it's first time at IRP in the WERA Heavyweight Superbike Endurance Series. It was another interesting year.

Raced running the shifter kart in the Unlimited Enduro Class through the Mid States Super Series, finishing second in points.

Ran in the Mid States Super Series (250 Shifter karts) finishing second in points for the season, as well as running the Dart Kart Series (finishing 4th), and the Michigan Kart Series.

Coordinated the set-up of the first "Open Class" to be run at Whiteland Raceway ever, through the (Whiteland) Chainbreakers Kart Series. This class would allow any type of kart, be it shifter or direct drive, etc., to be run in the Open Class with basically open weight rules and open "cc" limits. I decided to run the class in my Fabshop Parilla 100cc Direct Drive kart. I won the Open Class Championship with 9 wins and 3 seconds, with the series being sponsored by the IRL and the banquet held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I ran the (Whiteland) Chainbreakers Kart Series again, while also persuing my love of 250 Shifter Kart racing through the World Superkart Organization. I won the Open Class Championship (at Whiteland) for the 2nd consecutive year with 10 wins and also ran 2 of the 3 World Superkart Races (Atlanta and Road America, missing the Laguna Seca race). I even won pole position for the 1st World Superkart race at Atlanta in a Fabshop built Superkart with a 17 year old motor! New Castle Motorsports Park opened (Mark Dismore new track) and I ran only a few races there because of my full racing schedule, but won every race I participated in. In June, the points leaders in all classes at both Indianapolis tracks were invited to attend and display their karts during the Formula One weekend, and we were the only participant to show two karts because of points lead at both tracks. I also was showcased on local TV through the "Real Racing" program.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

As my resume shows, I have raced and driven many kinds of vehicles, some of my own and some owned by others. I have experience in set-up and can give excellent feedback. I have traveled around the world a few times and am quite a "people person". I enjoy trying new things and can adapt quickly in most situations. I have dealt with major and minor sponsors, the general public, and racing most of my life from either the driver's, the owner's, or the fabricator's point of view. I can drive anything and everything, and get it to the front. Licenses held in the U.S. include, but not limited to: WERA, AMA, SCCA Pro, FIA Pro, WKA. Good team player!
