Myfyrdod

Fy Mrenin fy Mhrynwr

(Myfyrdod)
  Fy Mrenin, fy Mhrynwr,
  Gwiw rad, a'm Gwaredwr,
Fy nodded, fy nyddiwr, llywiawdwr pob lles,
  Yn ddiddan dros ddynion
  Tywelltaist, do, helltion
Ddiferion o finion dy fynwes.

  Dy gariad, Oen gwirion,
  At annoeth blant dynion,
Swydd annwyl, sydd union arwyddion o ras;
  I'n dwyn o law angau,
  Ni allodd picellau
Na phoenau, dialeddau, dy luddias.

  Drwy ystyr ei dristyd
  A'i boenau bob ennyd,
Fu'n dirwyn yn ddiwyd ei fywyd i fedd,
  Mi glywaf yn ddilys
  Ei lef yn wylofus
Dan bwysau anghymwys fy nghamwedd.

  Pe byddai fy mhechod
  Cyn amled â'r tywod,
Neu sêr y nef uchod, nid gormod y gwaith
  I ti Hollalluog,
  Er mwyn yr Eneiniog,
Ei faddau, Iôr enwog, ar unwaith.

  Dod imi lawenydd
  A heddwch na dderfydd,
A gafael o'r newydd, ar grefedd y groes;
  A chynnal fi'n effro
  Tra bwyf yn ymdeithio,
Nâd imi drwm huno drwy'm heinioes.

Robert Williams (Robert ap Gwilym Ddu) 1766-1850

(Meditation)
  My King, my Redeemer,
  Worthily gracious, and my Deliverer,
My refuge, my comforter, governor of every benefit,
  Interceding for men
  Thou poured out, yes, salty
Drops from the edges of thy breast.

  Thy love, innocent Lamb,
  To the unwise children of men,
A gentle role, is a direct sign of grace;
  To take us from the hand of death,
  Spears cannot
Nor pains, retributions, hinder thee.

  Through considering his sorrow
  And his pains every moment,
His life was winding diligently to a grave,
  I hear unmistakeably
  His cry woeful
Under the unqualified weight of my transgression.

  If my sin were
  As numerous as the sand,
Or the stars of heaven above, not too much the work
  For thee Almighty,
  For the sake of the Anointed,
To forgive him, renowned Lord, at once.

  May joy come to me
  And peace that will not pass away,
And a grasp anew, on the belief of the cross;
  And keep me alert
  While ever I am travelling,
Do not let me sleep heavily throughout my lifespan.
