Yr Awr Olaf

Mudaf o'r byd siomedig - ar fyrder

(Yr Awr Olaf)
Mudaf o'r byd siomedig
      - ar fyrder
  I'r fordaith bellennig
  Drwy angau a'i donnau dig
  I wlad sydd anweledig.

Iesu mawr, pan lesmeiriwyf,
    - ar ben oes,
  Derbyn fi pan hunwyf
  Berwedig mewn braw ydwyf,
  Ofni poenau'r angau 'rwyf.

Disgwyliaf am dês golau,- a buan
  Wawl bywyd yn angau
  A gwên Ion pan fwy'n gwanhau
  Amen, a nef i minau.

Trwy f'einioes, taer ofynaf, - am hyny
  I'm henaid a geisiaf
  Cael myned dan nodded Nâf
  Ar elor i'r awr olaf.
I'r fordaith :: I f'ardal
ar ben oes :: ar ben f'oes
i leddfu 'mhoenau :: a nef i minau
elor :: elawr

Robert Williams (Robert ap Gwilym Ddu) 1766-1850

(The Last Hour)
I will move from the disappointing world
      - rapidly
  To the distant journey
  Through death and its angry waves
  To a land which is invisible.

Great Jesus, when I swoon,
    - at the end of an age,
  Receive me when I sleep
  Boiling in terror I am,
  Fearing the pains of death I am.

I am waiting for the heat of light, - and soon
  The light of life in death
  And the Lord's smile when I am weakening
  Amen, and heaven for me.

Through my lifespan, earnestly I ask, - for this
  For my soul to request
  To get to go under the protection of the Chief
  On a bier to the last hour.
To the ... journey :: To my ... region
at the end of an age :: at the end of my age
to relieve my pains :: and heaven for me
::
