BATTLE ZONE MISSION GUIDE!!

NOTE: This guide is useful only to those who have READ and UNDERSTOOD the manual. It is also helpful yet not neccessary to have completed the tutorial. Remeber read all the mission objectives they not only tell you what to do but give you hints on how to play and complete the mission! Now for the greatest hint SAVE EARLY AND SAVE OFTEN!!!

Mission 1

Red Arrival

This is the first and easiest mission. First of all enter one of the vehicles provided at your base (NOTE: For new players the best vehicle to choose is the Grizzly) then take a carefull look at your radar you should see 2 yellow dots both of which are extremely powerful weapons. One the pop gun is not very good as it eats ammo too fast for too little damage ;however the rave gun is the most powerful weapon in the game and it's not that ammo consuming. (NOTE: If you choose to pick up the rave gun be sure to aim it CAREFULLY its explosion could destroy your scavenger) Now that you are equipped build your scavenger and follow it. When you first spot a red dot on the radar immedietly target it and destroy the russian vehicle, soon after another one will attack you destroy it also. When your first scavenger reaches the base you will get a note about a second one that was already in the field. Immedietly check your hud for its location and proceed to help it, by destroying the enemy vehicle.(NOTE: If by this point you have wasted all your ammo you can ram the enemy fighter so that it cannot shoot at the scavenger.) When the scavenger reaches the safety of the base the mission will be over. GOOD JOB!

Mission 2

Eagle's Nest 1

This is the second mission of the game and is not much tougher than the first one, the lack of a rave gun however can make the enemies harder to kill especially for a new player. Sometimes trying to hit fighters with an AT-Stabber is rather tough (early on anyhow) and destroying czars with the minigun takes too long the best combination is too link the two weapons. This provides a constant stream of bullets and a harder punch once ever second or so. The most important thing to rember about this mission is what you have to defend concentrate only on those structures, you can lose anything else if you have to. As soon as the mission starts the command tower will be attacked by two fighters. ASAP order your Recycler to build a turret and procced towards the enemy ships, try to destroy both as this will yield more scrap for you if you are not succesfull DO NOT follow the fighters, not only will you face 4 turrets you will also be low on ammo and the base will be attacked soon.(NOTE: If you want to save ammo you can snipe the enemies this is easy to do because the russian forces come to a stop while attacking your buildings if not fired upon which gives you plenty of time to take out the drivers)Now that you disposed of the enemies you must build as many turrets as possible, place 2 near the command tower, 2 near your recycler, and 1 near the entrance to the base (eastern hole in the crater wall), rember keep the turrets close to whatever they are supposed to be defending. When building more turrets keep adding them to your defenses 1 by 1 (TOWER-RECYCLER-ENTRANCE). With 2 turrets at the tower and 2 at the recycler you can choose to stay in the base helping your defenses kill whatever came in or you can leave the base intercepting enemy forces before they come in. Another thing to do is to use the silos and hangar to bring yourself up to full health and proceed to destroy the russian turrets in the crater to the east of your base, once you start clearing out the crater rember to destroy ALL structures so that your scavengers will not be attacked when they go to pick up scrap there. Clearing this crater gets you more scrap safely and helps out later in the mission. When the crater is clear (try to do this as fast as possible) quickly return to your base as it will be attacked by apcs if you intercept them a little before your base great but if they manage to get inside take out the soldiers your turrets have lots of trouble doing this. Soon after three or so attack waves command, will order you to move out and escort 2 transports to the launch pad by this point the reinforcments they said were coming should be there. Order the scout and tank to follow you and move towards the transports. Wait till they take off and just follow them to the launch pad, if an enemy gets too close kill him (most of them should be coming after the base anyway). If previously you cleared out the crater resitance on the road to the launch pad should be 0 to minimal, if you didn't you'll face around three turrets which you should destroy before the transports travel near them. When the transports get to the launch pad the mission will be over(they take a while to get there because they have to go around the hill till they can climb up it).

Mission 3

The Relic Discovered

This is a fairly standard mission you have to setup a base and defend it from enemy squadrons. First of all it doesn't matter which spot you choose to establish the base on the difference in actual gameplay is minimal. With the Recycler and Factory deployed crank out two scavengers and two turrets set up 1 turret at the recycler and factory each. Soon you will be attacked by a "SQUADRON" of enemies these are two russian fighters which you should promptly dispose of. (NOTE: If your turrets aren't up yet the enemy will once again stand still to attack the buildings. SNIPE!.) With that done build around 2 more turrets and divide them up between the recycler and factory. Now you can wait for some scrap to accumulate, build another scavenger and two tanks. While your base is getting along nicely (with possibly an attack or two which you should have NO trouble with) you'll get a message from Command, they tell you that theirs another "SQUADRON" (ha) trying to flank your position and tell you to investigate build a tug and have two tanks with you.(NOTE: The enemy SQUADRON is only two fighters again.) If you feel up to it go by yourself with the tug; however remeber quick destruction of the fighters helps get back to base faster to happily plan out its defenses. If your base comes under attack while your away the turrets should be enough to hold back the enemies. When you secure the relic and have your tug pick it up tell it to follow you back to base. (NOTE: If the tug gets destroyed before reaching base you can always reload and try to drive it yourself.) When the tug is secure near your recycler build units, tanks, scouts, turrets, what have you spend all your scrap(make sure your stocked up on health and ammo). You'll be getting attack by around 3 more squadrons each one stronger then the last. During base preperations you'll be attacked from the BACK, this just means that the units will come from a diffrent direction and probably be after your factory. When all the attack waves are destroyed you'll get a message from command saying that the russians are standing down. Way to GO!

Mission 4

An Unexpected Connection

You have gotten this far but only to face the real test. This mission is unlike the ones before it because there's more enemies and the objectives deviate from what by now your used to. First you have to set up a base. Tell your recycler and armory to follow you and quickly speed towards the 2 geysers located on your map. DO NOT split up your armory and recycler. When both structers are powered make two scavangers and two turrets ,set up the turrets between them in a line like so R---T---T---A. The big sorta round thing in the middle of the map is the volcano you are supposed to "Investigate" put off that mission objective for a while as defending your base is what you have to concentrate on. Two fighters will attack soon after you setup (pretty standard for the russians) if you do not have your turrets setup by this point then you can always snipe them; however your turrets SHOULD be up one deployed the other moving to its location, if your turrets are not up not all is lost but you will have a much more difficult job. Make more turrets after reppeling the attack and then MORE turrets they are the key to this mission! New turrets do not have to be placed in a line in fact try to place three in a triangle around your recycler so the cover their fields of fire. When the recycler has three turrets take all the remaining ones including the ones from the line (unless you've used those in the triangle)and tell them to follow you. Besides the three near the recycler you should have at least 2 following you with a third one being built. Thusly prepared you can now go on and investigate the volcano. The key to your equipping yourself is SPEED!!!! You gotta do it fast, by the time you get to the volcano there SHOULD NOT be any russian units there! They could be near the volcano on their way, but NOT IN THE VOLCANO.(NOTE:If you failed miserably and the units are in the volcano set up your turrets and attempt to get rid of them if you fail you can still try to regain it, but you will have a harder time getting in then defending the blasted thing.) When your inside and the enemy units are on their way set up your turrets (even the ones on their way, just tell them where to go and leave it up to them to get there) in a line in front of the factory like so:

Factory Stuff

T(more turrets in here as they arive)T

When the turrets are set up (all you really need are four but there is always safety in numbers and rember they don't all have to be there yet) move to the volcano entrance where the Nav beacon is. You should intercept any incoming enemy turrets before they have a chance to setup so they can't fire back (of course when you fire on them they'll try but by then it's TOO LATE HA!) You should in this way destroy most of the attacking force. When you run out of ammo jump down the ledge from the entrance to your turrets and let them dish out justice to the rest of the "Trespassers".Your base will come under attack during all this but mostly by nothing more than two fighters. The big rush will soon be over (believe me youll know when it is) at this point replenish your turrets if any of them need it switch to your map go on making turrets if you so desire and watch for your scavenger (NOTE:In this map the scavengers have a tendency to wander into the mined gullies so when one is under attack just make sure its not a soviet killing it, if it's not and the scavenger has about 2/3 of its health let the scavenger go because it will probably get out all right)When the big rush is over two things may happen. 1 If all the russians got to the volcano then command will say that reinforcments are on their way and you have to hold out for ten minutes (which is BS because I once waited 15 minutes).2 command will not say anything and you may or may not notice russian units just cruisin along the map. No matter if you see units or not, if command hasn't responded that means that there are russians out there who were supposed to get to the volcano yet didn't. This can be a very favorable situation if they aren't attacking you yet and you can't see them build up your forces a couple more turrets maybe a factory (NOTE: A factory is NOT neccesary to complete this mission) Sooner or later the remainders of the russian wave will come out. Destroy them and listen for Command instructions. If Command contacted you when the big rush was stopped at the volcano send yourself some ammo and repairs and also leave some in the volcano equip two of your turrets near the alien factory with ap stabbers. During preparations and after they're complete CHECK THE MAP OFTEN. You will soon see a column of 3-4 red dots coming from the N-E at the same time a couple of tanks will be steadily getting closer to the volcano. Proceed to the column as fast as possible these are BOMBERS try to engage them on un-even ground use strafing and jump jets to avoid the missles (you can also sit in their face and they will damage themselves with their shots trying to get you, this is risky however and leaves you low on health) dispatch as many bombers as possible. How many bombers you dispatch is a measure of how tough the rest of the mission is gonna be 1 YOU SUCK AND BETTER START PRAYING 2 NOT BAD BUT A PRAYER WOULDN'T HURT 3 WAY TO GO YOU SHOULD HAVE LITTLE TROUBLE 4 YOU ARE THE GRAND MASTER I SALUTE YOU. No matter how many you destroy if you start getting low on health or ammo move to the volcano and get your pre-prepared refills, then move to the entrance and attempt to take out the rest of the bombers make the ones IN THE VOLCANO your priority. When you destroy all four bombers you can choose to fight and help your turrets or watch and laugh in your cockpit as the enemy is torn to shreds upon your turrets. Whatever you choose to do make sure no enemy succesfully fires at the factory losing it means GAME OVER! When the enemies die command will tell you that the reinforcements are under your control (WHAT GREAT TIMING THEY HAVE!!!!). Mission Accomplished.

Mission 5

Escape from Mars

Alright this one is tough not because of the enemy units but because of your own and commands ever changing mind. When you start of you are supposed to help out the fifth platoon well you never do get to do that, anyways follow the canyon to the south with your recycler and 2 tanks in tow. After a while you should come upon a large white dot on your map,(no it's not a geyser) this new relic is the cargo ship which travelled from the factory you secured to a starport, command tells you to identify it do so. When that's done (NOTE:You can skip the little movies by pressing space) you will be told to proceed through the large scrap field in the canyon, during your attempt to reach the fifth you will come upon two russian turrets and a howitzer, kill them to secure the area and proceed to establish a base near where they were. With your recycler deployed build a scavenger and let it collect scrap,it should come back real fast as theirs more scrap here than you know what to do with. With the new scrap build two to three turrets and another scavanger. During your base building command may contact you and tell you to investigate the alien remains that are littering the canyon floor. Do not ignore the command in order to build up your base if you hold out too long you will automatically lose. When thats done a wave of units will attack you, just kill them then five minutes later command will tell you that the russian transport has left the launch pad this is where the fun begins. You are ordered to penetrate the enemy base and identify the launch pad. Build a scout and exchange your place with it's drive (NOTE:You really don't have to as there is plenty of time to get there and back but it's just so much cooler to speed along the canyon floor in a scout!!!) No matter which vehicle you chose follow the canyon floor to where the russian units came from(do not go back to the start, duh) destroy the one turret thats guarding the entrance to the smaller passage and immedietly tell your turrets to take up position there. Now travel the canyon towards the launch pad in order not to get lost you can use your map (although most of the stuff is too hard to make out) or follow these helpful hints:

1 Follow the largest canyon path.

2 If you see enemy units in a path go that way.

Following those simple steps you should have no trouble getting to the launch pad. Once near the enemy base speed past all the defenses target the launch pad press I and get out of there. (NOTE:An alternate way is to bail out of your vehicle in a dead end path that has a wall blocking you from the launch pad you can then float over the wall and investigate it. Then you can simply climb back from where you came and across all walls to your base. This is because while on foot you can climb ANY surface no matter how steep) Duringthis whole operation cranck out souts and turrets (building a factory wastes too much time). When the launch pad is identified the ever present command will tell you to move your forces to the dust of site where they conveniently placed a beacon tell your recycler to pack up and move to the nav point you should also tell all your units to defend the recycler. This is the trickiest part of the mission because the recycler has to get REAL close to the nav point so it's best to make your way back to base and show it exactly where to go. As soon as it reaches the nav point the mission will be over. If you are coming under attack by a large enemy force and the recycler looks to be on the nav point kill of the russians. One time I just got the recycler to the spot the other I had to kill of the incoming force(maybe they were blocking the nav I don't know). Even in the worst scenario all your turrets and scouts should win the day.

Mission 6

Behind Enemy Lines

OK I'll get to the point this one's tough. You have to start of by destroying the enemy radar array easier done then said. First of set up your armory and tell your units to defend it. Follow commands instructions and move to the nav beacon where some more troops are waiting. When you get there tell the newely acquired units to defend the armory. You should now proceed to the new beacone outside the enemy base. Normally there's no way to get in safely and so you have to climb a hill behind the base and bail out, but you already know this so BAIL OUT and across the walls surrounding the russian base without climbing some stupid hill. (NOTE: You can just hop out of your tank and walk across the wall but there is NO guarantee your tank will be there when your done inside the base.) When you land look around, "Is that a nice new Czar the russians left for you?" "Why yes it is!" anyway climp into the tank or better yet all three vehicles one after another(this is so when you secure the base your pilots can use the vehicle). Then choosing which model you like best destroy the radar array, when that's gone quickly eliminate the constructor and two apcs. Refill on what your good comie friends left in their base and take out the lighting power generator(you should be able to do this without getting hit by the gun towers). Now that that's done order your recylcer armory and factory to move into the canyon and setup on the recyclers. Command will have informed you that you need to take out the enemy recycler in order to complete the mission.Take the turrets that are near the armory and put them in place of the russian gun towers. Once your established (make sure your factory, recycler and armory get there sometimes they have a little trouble and need to be guided by you) you can go for one of two ways the quick stab to the back or the long haul. The quick stab is my favorite technique it's just SOOO devious, first equip your ship with solar flares build two scouts and tell them to follow you make sure you have full ammo. The recycler you need to kill is in the east of the map. Now that you know that go north past the mountain range that is blocking you from it circle around the range and go south. As you approach the enemy target the recycler and tell your scouts to attack meanwhile you should select your flares drive under the recycler overhang and deposit as many as possible. Watch the recyclers health go down if it gets REALLLY close to death but doesnt get there hop out and shoot it for good measure when it GOES KABOOOM you'll have succesfully completed the mission. The longer way of course involves building up a force, to prevent your enemy from expanding place two turrets in a small pass in the eastern mountain range you'll see it on the map as it has yellow spots all over it(NOTE: There is an enemy factory near this pass it would be wise for you to take this out also). Then do the same thing at the northern end of that range place more turrets in the huge A$$ scrap field so the enemies can't gather there. All the time be on the look out for enemies who are attacking your scavengers (this is probably the toughest part of the mission). Once you have established a large enough force attack the russian base again from the north but this time take out the l.power first so the gun towers go offline then procced to destroy the recycler.

Mission 7

A Nasty Surprise

NASTY... HA this one is a joke.I read in all the forums how sooo many people have trouble with it. First of set up your recycler and build a factory and a couple of scavengers. You will be attacked by two soviet squadrons one consisting of two fighters the other of three. Erect an l.power near the recycler and build two gun towers near it so they defend your base. There are three canyons travelling through the mountains. If you haven't figured it out yet the russians are at the southern end of the map. Soon the other landing force will start whinig about how much they suck and are scared of the russians but you know whats up,"You did build 2 bombers? Didn't you?" Well now jump into one cause the AI is only good at blowing themselves up and await the Walker arrival. You'll be periodically attacked by russian tanks and fighters you should have no trouble taking them out with the rockets as they usually travel in a straight line. Make sure you have two tanks to support you when the enemy gets in close. To help scrapping you can build a silo between the three passes or build on seperate silo for each. When command goes something to the extent of "ARGHH ARGHH WHAT IS THAT?" check your map and radar, target enemy units until you find the walkers, drive up to them (not up stay 200 ft away) and blow the CRAP out of them watch them try to reach you at 1 inch per sec. Now that that's done continue securing the passes build a few gun towers at each. When you establish a sizeable force and the russians aren't attacking as often take your bomber and go to the southern end of the map (it REALLY helps to have the sattelite by this point). Move slowly and watch for enemy units keep flipping through the targets and find the l.towers take them out.(NOTE: DO NOT MOVE WHILE SHOOTING, take up a position and target the towers and when your setup start killing. If you see enemy units don't panic 75% of the time they just pass you by,if you're NOT moving.) Call in for ammo whenever you need it and proceed to long distance bomb the enemy. When all the l.towers are gone click CTRL 1 and tell those lazy bums to attack the enemy recycler and then the factory. Mission Accomplished (NOTE: This is by far the coolest mission to mess around in, when the enemy stops attacking you can just wait outside the enemy base and snipe whatever comes out, it's soo cool to have 8 scavengers 5 of which are russian)

Mission 8

Wrangling the Fleeing Herd

This one is a walk in the park after you get past the first part. Your objective is to stop an enemy convoy trying to get to the launch pad at the southern end of the map. You are told not to destroy the launch pad and to meet up with a unit factory and its three scavangers. When command quits yapping immedietly tell your armory to go to a geyser , after setting the armory up proceed to the factory and let them tell you how hard it is to cross the canyon to nav beacon one. When they are done the factory will be under your control and so will the constructor, build an l.power and a gun tower near your deployed armory. (NOTE: If you do not claim the factory you cannot beat the mission you will receive 20 scrap with it which you need to complete the first part of the mission) Now you have to destroy those howitzers that are threatning your precious factory. This is where things get tough finding the right order to jump from howitzer to howitzer took me 6 re-tries. First travel to nav 1, as soon as you get there you will notice two white dots on your radar, one near the beacon and the other to the west. Travel to the one to the west you will find an alien ruin there which you need to identify (the other is the geyser you will later deploy your factory on). Once at the ruin command wil tell you this is a good place to start your climb and they are sorta right. When your done admiring the black strucure proceed north through the wall or around it the first howitzer (marked on homemade map!). You should have no trouble climbing onto the hill its defending once there kill it. Then proceed to howitzer number two you will have to use these spout like structures coming off from the plateaus to jump into the air, then use your jump jets to lower yourself. The second howitzer is to the north and you sould have no trouble finding the "jump point" (there is however another "jump point" to the east which will NEVER land you near a howitzer, you may think you'll make it but out of my 25 tries I NEVER made it). Once howitzer is two is gone go for three this is the on to the east and you should have no trouble finding it, kill it and move on to number 4. To reach it you do not use a "jump point", you just sorta drive over to its plateau crossing a deep crack to get there. Once you've killed 4 back track to number three (if you have trouble getting back to number three you should be aware of the incline near the 4th howitzer which when climbed lets you EASILY jump to where you need to go). Now kill the fith howitzer by jumping to it's platform using a "jump point" and then the 6th.YOu may run out of ammo at one of the howitzers if you do tell your armory to drop you a reload but DO NOT let your scrap fall below 4! For the mentally challanged lazy and people who don't understand me here is a homemade map.

(NOTE:DO NOT SAVE WHILE LOOKING AT A DESTROYED HOWITZER!!!! When you reload you will have to kill it again because it comes back to life with some energy, once I didn't notice and had to jump back and kill a howitzer that respawned. You can also kill the 6th howitzer by climbing its plateau, the south side is pretty easily climbed.) With that done the rest of the mission is a snap just tell your factory to set up on the geyser at nav one, build a silo in the middle of the canyon with all the scrap keep crancking out walkers and use them to block the enemy pass(the pass is the one right near your base heading to the north-east). BEFORE you run out of pilots build a tug and leave it at the factory. When you deplete your pilot count you can always setup a couple of gun towers in the pass just for effect. (I had three walkers and three towers the convoy survived for 10 secs). When the russians drop the relic tell your tug to pick it up and take it to the factory. DONE and DONE, and I mean DONE!(NOTE: Sniping the enemy convoy from a pre-planned position in the canyon is also a nice idea especially if you get the tug and drive it on home!)

Mission 9

The Race Is On

I don't think there could have been a simpler mission then this. Here as most of the times the key is speed. While command is briefing you in "current events" deploy your recycler, build a factory, deploy the factory, build a tug,hop out of your tank and drive the tug to the center of the map. Here you will find the relic pick it up and drive it to your recycler as fast as possible (you can cut through some of the lava). Mission Accomplished. IF you have any trouble build a tank or two before leaving tell them to: follow you and attack the guards, IF the guards are even there yet. While the tanks are engaging the enemy turn tail and run.Mission Accomplished. AGAIN!

Mission 10

Bring It Home

Actually there might be a simpler mission then mission 9, such as mission 10. The objective here is to escort three tugs to a launch pad. Simply follow the way point path, travelling faster than the tugs, and take out anything that registers red on your radar. Stick to the path though because there are some places where killing can lead you off track. During this fateful trip one of your tugs will betray you and run. DO NOT purse it it's useless. Destroying it is nearly impossible and even retrieveing it doesn't change the mission outcome (NOTE:If you don't believe me try this: constantly remind your tugs to follow you; if you do this often enough the traitor will never reveal himself and all tugs will follow you till the end.) Check your radar often; at about waypoint two you should be able to target a walker. The tugs will stop, drop some recharge packs near them, target the walker and tell all your men to attack it. Charge in right after them and finish off the behemoth. Once thats done take out the turret and any other remaining forces in the area. Even though the path looks clear now on your way to the launch pad command will inform you that it's being attacked. If one or more of your teammates still live simply attack the tresspassers and finish them off; however if your possie died simply jump out of your tank while pulling next to the launch pad and SNIPE THE BASTARDS! If you can't you SUCK! When that's done you can follow commands orders and travel to the second launch pad. There's one fighter guarding the path so unless your a wuss you should have no trouble
